@happ Southwest just cancelled our flight to Florida on Apr 13. They rebooked us but stupidly put my son on a different flight 3 days after ours. That should never have happened as he was on a companion ticket.

I was in panic mode as we have a cruise, but I was able to reschedule the flight for all of us for 2 days earlier. Not ideal as will have to pull kids out of school, but at least we don’t have to drive from MA.

I thought we were safe as our flight was not on a 737 max but it seems they are reworking the schedule and redeploying aircraft so anyone could be impacted. So keep a close watch on your reservations if you have SW flights in the near future.

I just hope we don’t suffer any problems with the return flights.
I'm glad you got it worked out. I had thought my flight was safe too since it wasn't a max plane. It really stinks that it took them so long to rework the schedule. I would be looking for alternate return flights now if I were you just in case.

I tried via twitter with no success, but I will probably try again. It stings even more because I pc'd my freedom card back to csp, and paid the fee, just to transfer the miles to SW to get these tickets. Now I can't even use the SW miles for this trip and I had to use a ton of Delta miles for our tickets. I am thankful though that I had those Delta miles and some other back up options. It got me thinking about how good it is to have a "diversified churning portfolio" when things go awry.

I don’t know how much joy you will get with compensation. This is Boeing’s fault and I can’t see SW paying compensation. It totally sucks to have your plans ruined at short notice, but glad you found a solution.

Bridge: In 15 mins, please proceed to your emergency station for an announcement... sorry for the inconvenience...

Me: I don't mind my emergency station... :P

Hi, I wanted to see if anyone on here is familiar with Albuquerque, NM? We are planning a trip out west for 2 weeks in August. We were going to do San Diego/Grand Canyon/Vegas but now are considering doing Albuquerque/Petrified Forest/Grand Canyon/Vegas. We really want to do "out west" things, so that is the reason for forgetting about California (plus the super high prices for everything). Albuquerque looks like there is so much to do there. Any suggestions on researching what to see and where to visit on our way to Grand Canyon and then our final destination of Las Vegas? Thank you for any suggestions
I live in Las Vegas. If you have any specific questions you can PM me. Show wise DW and I think Absinthe is the best in town. Cirque du Soleil Beatles Love is also one of her favorites. I prefer Mystère to Love.

I recommend checking out some of the old Vegas steakhouses on Fremont Street for a nice dinner. Andiamo’s @ the D is our favorite. Hugo’s Cellar @ the 4 Queens is a unique experience also.

Wow, I already got the 20K bonus on my bonvoy business amex card from my referral to my husband. I filled out an application for him on 3/27, the last day and he got approved. He didn't even get the card yet and I got the 20K bonus today on my account. Surprised it came so soon. Also, my husband did have a Marriott rewards cc less than 2 years ago (probably around 21 months ago) and got a bonus and the account is now closed. Does this disqualify him for the 100K bonus points on the bonvoy??? I just don't want him to spend $5K and then not get the bonus. Thanks as always for the help!

Welcome offer not available to applicants who

(i) have or have had the Marriott Bonvoy™ Premier Business from Chase, the Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Business Credit Card from Chase, or the Marriott Bonvoy Business™ from Chase, or the Marriott Rewards Business Credit Card from Chase in the last 30 days,

(ii) have acquired the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ from Chase, the Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy™ Premier from Chase or the Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card from Chase in the last 90 days, or

(iii) received a new cardmember bonus in the last 24 months on the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ from Chase, the Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy™ Premier Plus from Chase or the Marriott Rewards® Premier Credit Card from Chase.

I think I've almost gotten spouse on board to the scheme. How come I've never seen the Bank of America Travel Rewards credit card recommended? Is it because of the low sign on rewards? It has a zero annual fee which is the easier sell to spouse. There is also the fact that
  • Get an additional 10% customer points bonus on every purchase when you have an active Bank of America® checking or savings account
  • If you're a Preferred Rewards client, you can increase that bonus to 25% - 75%
We are the first and I'm not sure how to do the second but we would probably qualify as we have a large account with them and a current 5% cash back card with them. Would this be a good card for us to start with or should we still go with the normal Chase Sapphire?

I have it but I am also LOL/24. You probably don't see it recommended due to the fact that the points are not as valuable as variable points that can transfer to an airline in addition to not having a great sign up bonus.

I wouldn't let annual fees scare you or the spouse away. 99% of the time the sign up bonus will far outweigh the fee for the first year at least. You can always cancel after the first year is out if the on going benefits do not outweigh the fee for you.

CSP is a $95 AF but you get $750 worth of bonus points at a minimum. Transferred to an airline. I can make those points worth thousands and have done that several times. Is there any reason to not hand Chase $95 and get $750 in return?

That's just one example but I can go on and on for most cards and the AFs.

Personally, I would still go the normal Chase route to start and then see what path you want to take after you are past 5/24. Having a stable of Chase UR cards that allow you to maximize bonus categories will almost always be far more lucrative than a straight cash back travel card. You will earn at a faster rate and be able to redeem for a greater value.

Wow, according to iii, he might not be eligible. I "think" it was the summer of 2017 he got the card but I will have him call since it may have been summer of 2016 and in that case, he would be eligible. The link I sent him which advised of the 100K bonus points, let him apply and get approved but maybe after he used it, they would deny the bonus which would really suck. We will follow up. Thanks.

Sign up for Credit Karma for him. You will be able to see all accounts on there opened or closed. With dates of opening and closing.

Just do a search on Chase refer-a-friend - enter the details of DH CIP on there and it will generate a link for you to send to your sister. Copy the link yourself - do not choose the send email option as that can take several days.

Or closer to 2 weeks in our case! I sent an email to DH to refer him, then was told here to just copy the link, and even with a delay he was approved before that email showed up!

Sooo what does everyone do with old expired passports that have had holes punched in them because you got your new one? Like luckily for me I had mine from when I was 15 when I got a new one in 2015 at 24, so I could use it as my identity documentation. Now this time I had to send in the current passport plus my marriage license. So now I have 3 total in my file lol
Keep it in case you need the documentation for any reason. My wife lost her SS card but her old expired passport still works to fill out an I9 for work purposes.

Current drama on r/churning is a fight between people that want folks to use discretion on discussing multiple CIPs (ie don’t plaster it everywhere, have TPG write a blog post and get it shutdown) vs. those that think it’s funny to plaster it everywhere and make people angry...

I share this here because this loophole may not last forever. If you’re thinking about a 2nd CIP and you’re in a safe application window you might want to pull that trigger soon.

Our Japan ABD date is 9/29-10/9 with the ABD TDL/TDS post stay 10/9-10/11 and we are adding 2 extra nights to that on our own. I went to the TDR site to see what attractions will be closed while we are there. Journey to the Center of the Earth will be closed AGAIN. This is the second time we are going to TDL/TDS after an ABD and the second time that the ride will be closed for refurb. Aaarrrghh! Looks like we will have to plan another trip after the expansions are complete. I can officially state that I have begun travel hacking plans for another Tokyo Disney trip in 2022.

Plan A musings include either using Virgin Atlantic for ANA flights in business or JAL via AA miles in business.
I am hoping that we will have worked our way towards that second Aspire card each and no devaluations on the card benefits. This should give us 4 weekend free night certs, $1,000 in resort credits and more than enough points to cover anything else. I will definitely make sure to plan this trip after I know when the refurbs will be taking place.

Why would anyone want to hand TPG anything at all? So he can make more money off of this stuff and shut it down? :sad2:

So it’s a crazy world over there - my understanding of the progression is:
  • People under 5/24 are the only ones that can go for this and if you’re under 5/24 on r/churning you’re a “dumb noob”
  • But the “dumb noobs” like to prove they are dumb and noobs by repeatedly posting DPs of successful CIP#2 (seriously...we get it...even my patience can be tested)
  • So then the more experienced folks start shaming people for repeatedly posting this - mostly because we all get it now, and it means nothing to 90% of the people there (as they’re over 5/24 anyways)
  • Then another group of experienced folks think this shaming is “censorship” and start to spam it everywhere as a “joke” which annoys the rest of the experienced folks and the “non-dumb noobs” (not all noobs are dumb)
  • At some point then the mods have to weigh in with some “state of the issue” post or stickier comment that causes even more drama
  • Eventually it’s discussed so frequently that one blog will pick it up and write about it
  • Then every other blog has to get in on the action too
  • Once this happens cue loophole shutdown in 3...2...1...

This is typical for pottery barn kids. My mom ordered my daughter a pbk suitcase for Christmas on Black Friday. It arrived January 29th.

Luckily she’s 1 and didn’t really know the difference. It’s not like she knew she was missing a present
Good god. I ordered the HP backpack for back to school in the fall. Hope
it comes in time!!!!

We will be there in 3 weeks. We have Bacchanal, Mon Ami Gabi and Yardbird booked. Any other food recommendations?

Well Dosh is efficient! I emailed them yesterday for my missing Sam’s Club new membership offer and I just got a cha’ing email from them for my missing $20. Now have doubled my $45 membership fee.

I also emailed Marriott about my missing 35k cert. It is ridiculous that is over 10 weeks since my anniversary date. I am going to apply it to our Clearwater Sheraton stay in June so we’ll only need to use points for 2 nights instead.

Just booked the Fairfield in Hershey since it is opening weekend next weekend and the weather will be in the 60s so bareable to go to the park for a bit. Plus I get double the night credit for some offer I received. Looking forward to our weekend getaway.

We are having no luck finding anything of interest for DS to read that matches his lexcile score. He basically needs 12th grade-college level books. Pretty sure most of it is far too mature for my 12 year old, no matter how terrific his reading ability is.

BFF finally got around to finalizing her wedding date - set for end of May (this is a second marriage). So I just booked the Hyatt Place in Champaign, IL for that weekend. Costs way more than I wanted to spend but you get what you pay for. It's a nice hotel and I've stayed there before.

We are so close to being under 5/24 I swear. Actually I can drop DH as an AU on a couple of my cards and have them removed from the credit bureaus and he would be 3/24. These accounts are old and just on the edge and will drop by July so not sure it is worth the hassle. That's how the game changes. By the time July of 2 years ago rolled around, having authorized users was a big no go. Before that it didn't really matter as much or at all.

Looking at my spreadsheet, DH is eligible for a new CSP/CSR signup bonus too because he will have surpassed the 48 month waiting period.

They sound like an unpleasant bunch to me. I guess I won't be venturing to reddit any time soon.
