Hey all, too many pages behind to catch up. So I woke yesterday to my water heater of 19 years finally leaking. Luckily it wasn't too much water. I went to HD for a quote....$1200! The water heater was $530 of that. Yeah, so I'm attempting this fix myself and w/ my ex-husband's help. So far it's not going too smoothly, LOL. The new water heater is taller and causing some issues. Hopefully we can finish it tonight. I was bummed I didn't have any cards that needed the spend though! I threw it on an amex for an extended warranty.

I'm VERY bummed to read about the 10% leaving the Barclay card. It was why I was keeping that vs the citi business. I liked getting the extra 1875 back on the flights that I took to the ex-bf. How often can you churn Barclay?

Also anyone know, if I just did a balance transfer to that Barclay card, do you think they'd be more likely to approve the biz now? I got denied in the fall for too many cards. But I opened more since then.

Also how risky is it ditching my Delta gold (personal) and trying for the biz. I want to have a card for the free luggage (which I might need for spring break). But I've wanted to switch to the biz version of the card for awhile.

What's the impact of getting denied a biz card. Anything?

I went out at 5pm to do a run to load my Serve (first time! success!) then to Krogers to get the fixed value vgcs. It's a little slippery but there's not much traffic out there so that's a bonus. Oh, and check your digital coupons for the gift cards that give you 200 fuel points - I got a $25 Red Robin gc and got 200 points, so now we're set for $1/gal off our next fill up. And now I have USB vgcs to try loading onto Serve (the ones from Safeway were Metas).

I was bummed I didn't have any useful 200 FP GC coupons. I would have gotten Bass Pro to sell but we were maxing FPs on Disney this weekend.

I kept having vacation souvenirs so I told DH: no more vacays until he got a vasectomy. I can't afford all these AUers.

Possible to fly to Hawaii in a day, impossible coming back since SW does not fly overnight. Have to stop in Cali and then fly back to east the next day.

Edit: Possible to book in a single day, cannot book from ATL, MCO, FLL, etc direct to Hawaii as it comes back with an error. Was able to find from DEN with a stop in OAK so could fly to DEN early morning and then on to HNL.

If you want to make use of it from the East Coast, you're going to need a positioning flight or be ok with spending a day or two in the Bay Area - which could be a fun trip nonetheless... it just depends on how much time you have.

Having difficulty getting online access to my AAviator Biz - keeps telling me the details don't match their records.....

Questions:
1. I do have to set up a separate login for this right? Can't link to my personal.

2. I set up the new login at barclaycardus.com or is there another website I should use? There is nothing that came with the card that tells me.

Did you get an email? I think it was in one of my emails after approval. But it's the http://aviatorbusinesscard.com/ mentioned. It's totally weird how Barclays doesn't brand anything on that site - not the URL, not any logos or names, the only way you know to trust it is the EV cert shows "Barclays PLC" in green in the address bar. Otherwise they hide it very well for some reason.

Is it just the properties changing categories that people are seeing this on? I just made an award booking at a Westin, and the cancellation policy is the same now-standard 48 hour policy it's been for a while.

Get an Amex Plat, get in earlier, and enjoy a massage at the Centurion Lounge in IAH. Then enjoy the Escape Lounge at OAK.

I’d want PHX because what if you miss the connection? I hate missing connections, and if I lost a day in the islands due to that I would be a VERY unhappy camper!

Accidentally posted this in the gift card thread last night. I swear I’d only had 1 glass of wine!

Putting my Amex and Chase 1099 MISCs into TurboTax and watching that refund number drop was physically painful. And I had a realization after: the government shutdown ended Jan 25. Who wants to bet after all that time to ponder their job some IRS agent decided 1/26 was the best day ever to throw “where are the 1099 MISCs for these referrals again?” at some unsuspecting Big Bank Accountant?

It's Hobby. I will have 2 Priority Passes (6 of us). There are PP lounges in PHX, but that's a long layover. Long enough for me to start feeling horrible just before taking off again.

My plan is to get to Cali and spend the afternoon/evening and overnight there. Then fly out the next morning to Hawaii.
Then I need to decide my return.

Dumb question...hubby hit his 150,000 Hilton bonus on the AMEX Ascend. It says it should be hitting his account soon. I don’t remember providing my Hilton rewards # during the application but I don’t see any emails in his account stating they opened a new one. Nothing showing online when I login either. Ideas on how to find out what account is linked (other than calling?)

Wait 2-3 days and check your HH accounts. Amex is usually pretty quick with posting SUBs.

You’ve been busy!! Getting denied a biz card the impact is just the hard hit on your personal credit, which might not even happen with Amex. Barclays tightened up and aren’t very churnable now. I’d apply for the DL biz while the personal was still open if possible in an attempt to avoid the dreaded pop up.

I can't keep the personal when I do it as I have 5 Amex
