:offtopic: I know many of you have much more experience with Southern California, looking for some guidance. Trip is in May will be flying into LAX and then head to anaheim for DL, staying 5 nights at the 4pts by sheraton on points. After that stay I will need to get to San diego for a work convention, not sure if I'll drive or take the train. 3 nights for the work convention in San diego. So my travel partner will be free throughout the day to explore but my time will need to be spent mostly at the work convention. Would you stay another night or two in San diego? Right now my ultimate plan is to drive to palm springs stay a couple nights, go to Joshua tree and fly home probably from palm springs airport to save on some of the driving. Any other recommendations of things to do in this general area? I was hoping to see Sequoia National park but looking at it, 5.5 hrs of driving from palm springs and then from there I can't find good options for flights... Thanks for any advice!

Sorry, I don't have any advice but wondering when you are going to DL? We are also staying at the Four Points Sheraton for the second weekend in May. Would love to hear any tips if you happen to be going earlier than us!

r/churningmarketplace had 2 new CitiBiz AA Mailers posted today. Just an update that these are out there but I'd imagine you have to strike fast if you were hoping to score one.
I noticed neither one posted a price despite the instructions saying to post the price of what they are selling. I think moving away from fixed price is not a good idea, but what do I know.

Thanks for the reply! The trip already will be pretty driving intensive so I'm thinking I'm going to need to make another trip for Yosemite and Sequoia and probably a whole other trip for northern California.
We did 5 days in San Diego last year with the kids so our activities were kid heavy. It was a great time. The zoo is amazing - could easily have spent 2 full days there. We didn’t make it to the Safari Zoo (which is 45 min away from regular zoo) but I’ve heard great things. We did a tour of Petco Park and drove to La Jolla to see the seals/sea lions. That was amazing and there are some great restaurants right on the water. Sea world was great and I really liked Mission Beach. There’s an old school amusement park right on the water it was really neat.

If you want to continue the fight and can spare 10-20 minutes here's what to do:
  • Call the number on the back of your Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve Card (preferably one of these 2)
  • Tell the rep that you want to speak to an ACCOUNT SUPERVISOR who handles ULTIMATE REWARDS. Make sure they're aware you are voicing a complaint about using your Ultimate Rewards for travel.
  • Politely explain how sad you are about losing URs for Disney World
Guys, I know we're grasping at straws here but perhaps if we bombard them with phone calls over the next week they'll realize that this is a significant issue. If you don't have time or really don't care (or think this is dumb), no worries, LOL!
Do you think its worth a call per card number? Or it doesn't matter since I am one person with one UR account? Definitely doing this over the weekend! Work has really been demanding the past week and a half so I haven't had much free time, but I still try to read each and every post here. I am waiting to use the news thread for my Disney trip.

It does make it hard to know what they're going for. I'd be shocked if people aren't paying $50-$75 for these right now though. They are just too valuable and the supply vs. demand makes it a seller's market.

Oh I probably wouldn't advise calling more than once...they'll probably log your name so it could undermine the value of the second call. If you have a spouse with a UR card and they're willing to make some feedback that could have value.

Weird side note: It actually made me feel better to vocalize my frustration. I know it may not deliver ANY results, but it just felt good to have them know that they upset me as a customer with that change. (Maybe I'm just weird, lol...)

Gotcha, I will only make one call as myself. I should be able to get another relative with a UR card to make a call. The more the merrier.

I completely understand what you are saying. Sometimes you just need to be heard. Chase did something that affected a bunch of people and it needs to know how its customers feel!

I'm planning to call too. Life's crazy right now with lots other things occupying my mind but should settle in next few days.

So excited to see in my SW account that I now have a companion pass! Thanks for all the advice to get me here!

Also found out by the time we go to Ireland in April, DS7 will be out of the big cast (broke his leg skiing last week) and will just have a removable boot. What a relief!

CIP. Is it showing Venmo coding as 3 times up until this week? Last Thursday I used it for $96 worth of Girl Scout cookies. I really hopes it coded 3 times. Helps justify the 24 boxes we somehow had to have. :)

The coding change to 1x for Venmo and GCM appears to have happened on 2/26. Transactions from 2/25 and before still posted as 3x. RIP.

If your charge is from as far back as last Thursday, you should be fine, but you can check by going into your CIP’s UR portal and looking at recent activity under your points balance.

Decided I didn't want to miss out on the credit, and DW came home from a 2 week business trip this afternoon, so I ventured out solo for some quiet time. Got there at 10:45p before their 11p close time. First time being ID'd in a restaurant and my ID was in the car in my coat. Trek back to the parking garage to go it it. I guess I don't fit the profile of someone carrying a Rose Gold metal card as she was clearly checking it out and giving me the eye. I am curious if the charge will use the February credit or if it will take away from March.

Tempted for a second to just have a slice while there...but way to heavy at this time of night.

I hope it credits to February! You might have to fight Amex for it.

This is me! Still likely going to book something for Hawaii even though I don't have any clear plans for any trip yet, probably why I haven't booked something yet...

There are quite a few that I would like to book but none that would feasibly work for just a long weekend. Hawaii would be one of those.

Yes major FOMO. Looking at the Ritz in Aruba. Easy trip and totally relaxing.

Oh now that's an idea. I haven't been to Aruba. I was looking at the St. Regis in Aspen, Las Alcobas in Napa Valley and Scrub Island. Decisions, decisions.

I have no dog in this fight so to speak. However, in support of my DISchurning friends here who do, I will make the call this weekend. Of course, I can't find the post with the phone number but if you PM me a copy and paste of the post, I will call them tomorrow. :D

Is she old enough for a drivers license? If not, did they need anything besides passport?
Our interviews (all 3 of us) are tomorrow.
No she gets her permit this month so no license yet. The only thing he asked for was passport then he asked her her address.

I did not know about this resort, and in my backyard too! The property is beautiful, and you have me imagining a relaxing weekend, sipping wine, and enjoying views of the vineyard vines changing colors in the Fall. It looks like it’s in Saint Helena too, which is one of my favorite stretches of Napa Valley for food and wine. Now I’m very tempted to book it before it jumps up to Cat 8 next week!

ETA: And just like that, reality hits :headache: that this is an “adults only” resort and children under 18 are strongly discouraged.

Brief mention of the increased sign up in IHG card. I am actually considering it for DH. I got mine last April before the changes. There are a ton of IHG properties out west here and I like cards when you get something for the annual fee. A free night would be good. Since it is a MasterCard just so easy to use it and easily make the spend with mortgage and plastiq. (Even if I do hate paying the fees I have got spoiled with paying the mortgage and having something to show for it pointwise rather than just transfer of money).

Just to add a personal perspective to this, I’ve thought about getting the IHG Premier for my wife, and I’m playing with the idea again now that the SUB has increased to 120k points. It'd be a nice way to boost the stash of points she's already got going. The corresponding increased, tiered MSR isn’t really a problem in our household except where it fits in with other MSRs.

When my wife travels to Japan for work, several times a year, she likes to stay at the Intercontinental Strings despite my efforts to have her build points and status with Marriott or Hilton. Her stays and expenses are paid for by her company on a corporate card, so the bonus earn rate on the card wouldn't see very much use, but I figure Platinum status (she’s Gold, currently) is probably worth the $89 AF, and the current best offer comes with a $50 statement credit, and apparently 5,000 bonus points for adding an AU (looks like DD5 might get another credit card) and making a purchase.

I don’t know how long the 120k offer will last. My roadmap is a bit congested right now with the United Biz planned for each of us this month (hey, I’m back under 5/24 as of today!), and another CIP for each of us in the coming months.

This is not a card I’d necessarily recommend is for everyone, but it’d work for my wife’s situation.

I'm not in the sub, but given I just took the plunge on the public biz offer, how much are mailers going for now with the new restriction?
