We are currently thinking of driving and staying at Art of Animation.

Thanks! I am a little uncomfortable with the Sapphire Reserve at the moment because I don't think I will use the travel credit this year. I do wish the Chase UR points were worth something at Disney! Such a bummer. I'll think about the Sapphire Preferred.

Wow that is fantastic!! How long did that take to build up?

I'll look into the reddit group. I joined the boards here before my last trip to Disney, but mostly read other posts and didn't reply much. I'm very into the idea of using points to travel, though, so I think I will enjoy this thread! I'm hoping to learn a lot.

Hi..not sure where your located but would you consider flying if you were able to build up airline miles and fly for free ...if so let us know what airports and airlines are around you since different airlines have credit card rewards as well

If you are okay with not staying in a Disney hotel, there are many places you can book with URs....we just stayed at Wyndham Bonnet Creek....it was really nice and convenient to WDW

Either the CSR or CSP would work with your travel plans....since your trip would be in 2020...you could open the CSP now...the annual free is waived the first year....the next Year when your ready to redeem URs you could upgrade to the CSR

Aw, thank you! Happy to know you, too :) This thread is really the best!

had been skimming that thread, but haven’t posted there...since back when we bought in 2001...my understanding was points could be reallocated between all room types/seasons etc...and we’ve been members through a few adjustments to the point charts....also booking a studio and one bedroom separately did use more points that booked a 2 br...from the start
was not going to post my experiences there since some of the responses to others seemed borderline rude...if someone didn’t agree with them...
I just thought it was sort of funny that people had been saying on there for years That DVC should increase the number of points needed for a studio and decrease points for a 1 br....but were now arguing DVC couldn’t move points between room types
Glad it worked out for thoses that that bought just enough points for a particular room type/season....since we book all different seasons and room types I just roll with any changes as we’ve done in the past

I've got all my stuff in a carry on.

Yay! We really enjoy DCL, and always take just a carry on (even overseas). It's just so nice to not have to deal with a ton of luggage. Have a great cruise!

Do, or will, you do laundry or are you guys tiny and just have smaller clothes. I know DW has tiny clothes compared to me. Not sure how you do it. :confused3

I want to close some of DH’s Southwest Chase cards in hopes of being able to eventually reopen one the next time there is a good companion pass deal. He has the Plus, Premier, and Business.
I’m also having him apply for the CIP. Is it better to close the cards first before applying? (He’s at 3/24.) Or should he apply and then close?
Also, does it matter which SW cards he closes? (The Premier was opened 3+ years ago, and Business and Plus last year.) I was thinking of closing all of them...

To all my DIS friends at WDW right now...STAY DRY...today is “that day”. The day it rains all day - seems to happen one day each January trip for us. Weather shows a 100% chance of rain from 8am - 11pm. WOW. LOL
Oh Wow..stay dry.....what park are you going to with the rain...

I’m another one who went to see Harry Potter in concert last night! My niece and I saw Chamber of Secrets. We loved it! She went to Sorcerer’s Stone last year, but this was my first time going. She dressed up as a Ravenclaw and I went as a Slytherin, even though I’m actually a Gryffindor. We carried our wands and had a great time.

Usually

I pack one large checked piece for the three of us for most vacations. Each of us has one carryon. Mine is a messenger bag, DHs is a backpack. We have a change of clothes in carryon but the rest is snacks, electronics, camera, etc. Our carryons aren’t big enough for a weeks clothes. I will admit to multiple pairs of shoes but I do wear them all. If my knees or feet are bothering me I change which shoes I wear the next day or later in the day. Clothes tend to be mix and match, pants are all gray or black. Toiletries are in refillable little bottles, so they are small.

What type of carryons do you have?
Travelpro roller, like the crew uses. Soft side.

LOL, I've done carry on only once and said never again. That was in the summer and I'm sure not tiny but summer weight clothes are easier to squish, at least in my experience. During that trip I sent clothes to the laundry at the hotel twice.

I do like to travel in the winter and DH and I have gotten to the point of having a "boots and shoes and outerwear" suitcase, even. I definitely respect hand luggage only peeps @GlamMistress @mmmears but with my bursitis, general flakiness, and tendency to often fly alone (i'd leave my bag in a restroom, I know it), checked bags work best for me.

Chase does not seem to care about accounts being closed as long as you’ve had the card a year....they do look at the credit limits on your existing cards..so you could either call Chase or SM them to reduce CLs
For the SW cards I’d wait until the yearly RR bonus points post to your account then close the cards after that

With Southwest, its been easy as they offer free checked luggage. I tried last year on our trip to DC, just DW and I, to use checked baggage but she didn't want to go to target to get the 3oz bottles to move her shampoo into so we paid $50 RT for checked baggage. I have gone to the airport in the middle of winter in shorts and a light coat because I didn't want to deal with the bulk once in Florida. Plus, I like to bring extra shoes because parks and soaked sneakers are terrible.

ETA: DC trip was on AA

Good morning! I am not in WDW, nor doing anything cool... But I do have money questions!
I know someone here is using Heritage Bank because that's how I looked into it. I think I made my 10 debit transactions, am registered in estatements, had a DD. But my interest rate is still showing at .05%. The DD went through on Friday, do I have to be patient for it to change or should I be spazzing out (because currently I'm spazzing out).

I don’t have any Marriott/SPG cards, I’m 3/24. What card(s) should I go for? Should I try to get the 2 that are being discounted?

Tips appreciated for carry on only. I can’t fathom being able to do it for Alaskan cruise but I’m open to suggestions and tips.
I did it...fam of 4, we just packed layers to add/subtract to outfits needed, and reused as needed(we didn't need to have laundry done after all) we didn't need much anyway- we do carryon all the time everywhere. I can't imagine packing bigger now.
