Did you pay the 35k at the time of reservation or was it a points advance? If you paid it already then I didn't think it'd even show the higher fee so there must be a glitch going on (shocking) If it was a points advance you'd have to call in to have the eCert issued at the previous rate. They are supposed to be honoring the previous rates for point advance bookings but it takes extra legwork to make it happen it seems.

It is a point advance reservation. We plan on using DH’s 4 CC certificates (only have 1). I’ll call when I have all the certificates.

Our theater is only $5.95 every day for matinees, $2 more for evening, in leather reserved recliners.

Haven't seen those prices in ages. I know other regions have it worse, but our kids tickets are higher than your evening prices, even for matinees. $5 Tuesdays is huge for us. We use it to see the big movies in the Dolby theater with the nice leather reserved recliners, makes it only $11/ticket on Tuesdays. Otherwise we sit in the "reserved" 20 year old seats (with millions of butt hours, with the hardware store number stickers on the arm rests for the "reserved" part) or if we're not going on a Tuesday then we use the discounted vouchers; but last time we bought those they were up to $9 I think. If it weren't for the Marvel type movies, we'd probably never go to the theater anymore. But some movies just need a big screen, for all the rest there's Netflix.

Looks like a group of Toronto travelers this year. I'll be following along on the conversations. I am tentatively planning a trip in October. There is a work conference at the end of Oct and might go and tack on a few days of vacation. Was planning to drive down to Niagara Falls as I have never been. Looking for any other solo type activities.

What is the weather like at the end of October?

In a word: GORGEOUS! It is usually high 60 to low 70s mid-late October. If the leaves are changing it's really pretty. Fall is my favorite season hands down!

Our theater offers $5 tuesdays and $6 student Thursdays. The student discount covers basically everyone because it says students and faculty and they never check that you actually are one of those two things. We also have cheap movies if you go before noon I think

We have the $5 Tuesdays but Tuesday is one of our busiest days so we never make that. However, our first showing everyday is only $5.09 so that is the show we hit if all 6 of us are going. If just my teens are going, they are buying their own tix, and they can go to whichever show they like. But if I am paying, we are there for the 'early bird' special lol!

But now they are saying I can't apply my 35,000 point certificate which I will get soon (just had my SPG biz anniversary) because then it's basically a new reservation so the 25,000 point certificate won't cover a night. I hate Marriott right now. I'm sure I'll recover in an hour.

You would not believe how many people don't do this. It's my pet peeve. People are taking the time to help you - you can't take two seconds to thank them? "Thanks all!" works too, if you got multiple replies. It's beyond rude. If I notice that someone consistently does this & I remember their username, I will never answer their questions again.

I think its time to put DW on the train (biz only). Whats the best Biz offer out there right now? 40k/2k spend and 200 credit? I checked a dummy booking and its 50k/4k spend with no statement credit.

It was an awesome experience! It’s a set price and set menu. The only thing you choose was fish or meat for the main course. Prior to going down into the restaurant everyone is given a glass of champagne to toast. We arrived early and I asked politely if I could go in and takes some pictures while the restaurant was empty and they obliged my request. It is smaller than it appears in the travel magazine pictures. It’s still pretty amazing. After dinner, the chef comes to each table to ask what was the favorite course and if there was any course we didn’t care for too much. The attire for dinner is smart casual but you leave your shoes on the rack at the front door. Everyone dines barefoot which cuts down on the sand getting everywhere.

Last week I mentioned that I was denied the Barclay biz as per the website link provided here (but my husband was approved). I got a letter yesterday asking for DL, SS card, and bank or utility statement. Sent it in and let’s see. Is that what is often referred to as recon?

The AU discussion got me thinking so I checked and it turns out I’m an AU in my Citi AA platinum select card. I don’t know why I thought otherwise but that puts me at 0/24 - woo hoo! Plus, I believe I can apply for my own card and get my first Citi AA bonus, right? After I’m done with Chase, of course. And if my husband got this card over 2 years ago, does he have to close it to apply for the card and get the bonus again?

I’ll probably hit pappciata’s and pay oop (didn’t bring my CSP).

I was up very late (11:30) with my ex who had a health scare and up early(4:30) to get DD to her bus to Orlando so it’s sleep deprivation making me dumb.

I was able to call and get my number. It worked in the lounge where we were, but I know some places require the actual card. Enjoy your trip!

$40,000 MSR back when the AA Executive card was at $10,000 MSR per card and we got 4 of them the same month. MS was also easier back then.

I think my highest MSR juggle was only $23k, all organic, between the Hilton Biz, Biz Plat, Marriott Premier Plus, and SPG Lux.

I didn't post yesterday since I remembered a MSR greater than our max. Mine was 22k, also all organic (and now we have no money left LOL) between Biz Plat, AMEX Gold, CIP, and the Lux card. We wouldn't have taken that on if we didn't already need to spend that much.

Nope, that's verification. They just want to make sure you're who you say you are. Recon is when they deny you based on velocity, inquiries, balance, credit history, etc, etc and you try to talk them into overturning their initial decision.

I detest car shopping! I am horrible at making decisions. I research so much that I just confuse myself. I was just telling friends that it took me over a year to pick out my last vacuum, how can I pick out a car? Lol My last 2 cars were Honda Odysseys. I did buy the 2nd one quickly because the first got totaled so didn’t have a choice. My DH’s last 2 cars were both Honda Accords. We are pretty boring. Lol But this time I want different.

2 years ago, someone recommended an auto broker to us when we needed a car. We gave him what we needed, what we wanted to spend, put down, and it had to have room for 6. Within a day he came back with a better price than what we wanted PLUS he brought the paperwork and the car to our house! Maybe see if you can find someone in your area. My understanding is the dealerships pay him so no OOP for you and he is independent so he doesn’t exclusively work with one car brand.

Me too! I always say you can take the girl out of Texas...of course I’m craving steak fajitas but it’s Friday so it will be a no meat quesadilla and guac. Which is also delicious!

My ex is older than I am by quite a bit and all alone so I suspect I’ll be more involved with his care in the future than I want to be so I can spare my DD the stress. Parenting can be hard.

The way I understood it was that you had to pay with points at the time of reservation to lock in the rate. Good luck with your call and hope they are accommodating.

LOL!! I have this card too, haha! I only use it at Old Navy/Gap and like how I get free shipping no mins. They are offering 10x points this month on grocery stores though!
