I think someone had put a recommendation here before, but I can't find it. Who should I look at for travel insurance for our Disney trip in September? Obviously want something that will provide coverage in case a hurricane comes through. Also, flights are booked on points (not sure if that matters). I booked a magical rate so I don't know if getting insurance through Disney is still an option or not.

This is interesting. I never would think to get ins for Disney. My daughter has begged me to take her next late Sept/Oct for the Halloween
stuff and Universal. I'm hesitating because isn't it still hurricane season?

Yes, that's basically the only reason I'm getting it! This is a big trip for 6 people and the last thing I need is a hurricane coming through!

I'm sorry for the long post, but there is a bunch of churning stuff in here, so it's not all off topic...

It's been a difficult day, with everything seeming too complicated. DCL prices are a bit steep for us, plus I can't book for 2 more days as the prices rise. And stupid Disney won't even let me see the prices, so a big shout out to @tink1970 for being super helpful in looking them up for me (and for lots of other people on the cruise board). Then the Chase thing. I called. We used DH's laptop and I think somehow one of the SS# reverted to his, so I had 2 different ones listed (they won't tell me what they were). Guy says he can't fix it, and now I have to mail in a copy of my card, or go to a bank and they can fax it for me. And if I cancel the app and apply again it would be another hard pull. So I pushed back. Hard. His supervisor ended up being able to fix it and then I was instantly approved for my CIP. It's on its way. Then DD called and told me she was accepted for her year abroad in Norway (not study abroad, but a post grad research fellowship). She is super excited. And with that, all my travel plans are changing. I'll need some help figuring out flight (because of course we will want to visit her), but right now my head is spinning and I'm just happy she knows what she will be doing next year. :goodvibes

Congrats party: on the approval....so glad a supervisor could fix everything for you..party:for your daughter too

The news was very widespread, saw it mentioned multiple times just on cnbc this morning, trending on Twitter. Every other time I've looked at Twitter this morning I've seen SW advertise their new HI flights. That said, fingers crossed for you it's just their systems being overwhelmed but I wouldn't bet on it. But there could be a bunch of people booking "just in case" so they might cancel after they've had time to think about it/tell their SO what they did

Here is a link the various FlyerTalk threads on the topic. When you hit "click here to display full wiki" in the bottom right of that message you'll see links to each of the airlines. Some people have had success getting <$99 tickets reimbursed on various airlines (although it's pretty ymmv). I would look at the last 10 or so pages of each post reading backwards so you start with the most up to date info to see if anything there catches your eye.

You could sell the SW gift card on Raise, take the like 20% hit but it's better than losing the money all together (but Raise can come back at you for 1 year after you sell if they think you sold a card and then drained it).
I'm actually just trying to figure out what amex expects you to use this credit for other than luggage fees without any finagling. It seems pretty useless.

It was perfect! Equal parts rice and water, hit rice and wait for it to beep, beep, beep. Too easy! I think I have converted and will no longer be cooking my rice on the stove.

Rice in the instant pot is great!! The ratios are different though, depending on the kind of rice, so make sure to check the charts.

DCL priced me out years ago. Our last was 2011 and we won't be back. I just can't justify it. Plus, unless we go with a big group, we actually get bored LOL.

So I was watching the Disunplugged show on Youtube about the new DCL 2020 cruise release. Steve Porter was quoting some people’s posts from Disboards and he mentioned @GlamMistress and quoted what she said. I was so excited to recognize someone from the boards that I did not listen to the rest of what he said and came here to post. :dogdance:

I went back about 10 pages but did not see this mentioned. Just a shoutout to Glam Mistress for her 15 sec. of fame!

I've been reading the boards sporadically today, and the discussion about a dischurner baby had me cracking up. Haven't had a chance to post anything myself (until now), so instead, I've been giving out "likes" like they're candy, ha. And of course, I gave this a "like":
I so appreciate this group which has been a huge part of my churning journey for the past 2 years. :grouphug: You guys are AWESOME and I'm so lucky to have this group to share successes with!!

but at the same time, I was thinking...man, you're really trying to make sure @Lain never catches up to you in likes, huh? ;)

And I know I'm late to the game, but finally got around to checking Amex offers and DH got both the Walmart and Sam's club ones! Score!

Oh, and I received a Citi AA Biz mailer (and this was after I already received two personal mailers in just the last few weeks)! 65k AA pts for $4k MSR in 4 months. I'm surprised I got it as I've barely done anything with AA in a long time and never signed up as a business or anything with them. I have no use for it though as we didn't jump on the grAAvy train and aren't planning on it. Maybe this means the biz mailers are getting sent out more easily to people?

Looks like those of us in New England don't have an easy option to get to HNL on southwest (yet). 3 stops with two kids is a no go for us at this point in time. May consider the new direct flight from BOS on Hawaiian in a year or two...

3 stops with even no kids would be a no go for me at any time! That's why I didn't get to join in on the SW Hawaii fun today. Nothing from PIT yet, unless I wanted to piece together my own crazy layovers.

I still need to catch up on the 14 new pages since last night (!), but I wanted to give a shout out and a huge thanks to whomever of you awesome people used my CIP support link. I usually check my Chase accounts more frequently but hadn't checked in a bit given my recent travel, so it was a super nice surprise to see 20k UR that I wasn't expecting in my Chase account this morning!!

there might have been a note on your profile posts. i couldn't figure out how to use the mail feature. hopeless with technology.

I used most of mine last year on my Gold card for EBCI on SW. It will also cover drinks and snacks on board. If my plan doesn't come together to get a Delta Gold AMEX before my WDW trip in Nov. I will be using it to at least partially cover my baggage fees.

So DH’s credit card came today from the implement dealer. He’s okay with me calling tomorrow to see if we have to use this card. (Can places really do that?!)

It would be ideal for me to put the charges on my CIP. One trip to the dealer should exceed my MSR.

Question though- if we don’t HAVE to keep this credit card from the implement dealer, can my husband reject the card and not have it go on his credit report? Yes, he did apply for it, but it was under the impression that he must (by the implement dealer).

You can try, but I wouldn't think so. I suppose if it never gets activated you might have a case. I had a card I never used, never generated a statement, but I did activate that shows up on mine.

Actually I easily used up my credit with United for: taxes and fees on award flights (x2) and seat selection and early boarding (which I wouldn't have done if I hadn't had the credit). Not only that, but Amex emailed me in January and said based on my history changing from Delta to United might be a better use of my credits...and it was. If I were gaming then I might have a problem using it but between taxes/fees on award tickets, baggage fees and seat selection I think it can be quite helpful.
