Thanks for the advice. The reason I cancelled one Chase card was because they were both Disney rewards cards. I also cancelled a Chase Freedom card around a month ago as well because I wasn't using it and had it for a while. I just don't want a lot of cards open that I don't use but maybe that isn't the best thing for my score. Thanks for the advice. I am assuming that business cards don't count in your 24 mos period?

Most business cards don’t count... But some do so definitely research before applying

If you have cards that don't have an annual fee, like the CF, there's no reason to cancel it, especially if you've had it for awhile. You want your AAOA (average age of cards to be longer and you need those older cards) to be older not younger. There's no reason not to keep them. Just toss a charge on them once a year or so to keep the bank from closing it themselves then put it back in the sock drawer.

ETA, the only reason to cancel a no AF card would be if you need the slot for another card, like with Amex. You should also reduce the CL if you have a high limit and won't be using it.

Is anyone else going through FOMO decisions on the upcoming Marriott category changes on March 5th? Part of me really wants to snag more reservations at an aspirational property for 60k per night with 5th night free before cat 8 comes into play and they go up to 85k per night. The timing that I would need to book it the furthest out that I can won't work realistically for 5 nights and I can't even decide where I'd want to try and book anyhow. I'm still thinking I can make a long weekend work, but where? Ugh.

This is me! Still likely going to book something for Hawaii even though I don't have any clear plans for any trip yet, probably why I haven't booked something yet...

Thank you for helping! We do usually fly Southwest, I’m interested to hear more about the companion pass. I have a husband but he is NOT interested in opening any cc’s .
We’re in the middle of a home remodel right now so we’re just throwing money out the window

@palhockeymomof2 has you covered above on how to get the companion pass. It would be good for the rest of this year and all of next year. It will only be a good deal for you IF you plan to fly SW several times in that period. Another option for you, if you are open to Biz cards, is to open the CIP, with 80,000 point UR bonus then about a month later hit another Chase card, either the CIC, the CIU, CSP or CSR. They all have 50,000 point UR bonuses. This would give you 138-9,000 URs with the spend added in. These points could be transferred straight to your SW account. So it would be more points, but not free companion. Also could be more flexible if you decide not to fly SW. Lots to think about!

113 does seem like a big jump. Did you have any high balances on any cards recently? My score dropped about 30 points one week because I was meeting MSR and hitting a new card fast, and I wasn't thinking and also dropped my credit limit on the card. So for a few weeks I had a $3000 balance on a $5000 card. I did pay the card in full at the due date, but they can see the balance at any time so I had super high utilization for a few weeks. It went right back up after I paid the card. Do you have Credit Karma account or Credit Journey through Chase? You can check other scores through them to see if they are closer to the 700 or 800 score. I think you said you also cancelled a card that was less than a year old? I am not sure what that would do to your credit score. But it probably ticked Chase off, hope they are still willing to give you other cards. Always keep cards open at least a full year.

No high balances and we pay off our balances right away, usually around $1K monthly. Credit Karma had my score at 797 and 813 but someone told me on here to check Experian since is was the credit bureau the credit card companies use.

Exciting news! I have a Citi biz mailer! :banana:My mom and step dad have had several Citi AA cards and since they have a legit biz I thought she might get mailers so I asked her about it last week. She said yeah, she gets them and would let me know next time she got one. Well yesterday she got one and sent it to me!!! I do feel kind of bad because she said she had thought about going for the offer (she has a personal but was denied for the biz for some reason last time), but I told her if she used it then the mailers would likely stop being sent, and I offered to pay her for it, which she refused. I'm actually trying to talk her into a CIP but so far she's not ready for that.

Anyways, the Citi AA biz is 65k pts after spending $4k in the first 4 months, and it expires 4/30. I SM'd Citi Tues night to close my current account, so not sure how long until that actually happens. Also, not sure if I should wait a certain amount of time to apply for the new card? I don't have my ss handy but it's been probably 6 months since I received that card.
I think I waited 2 days after closing my account.

Or Walmart grocery delivery. And Chase gives me Postmates. :confused3 No, we don’t have Postmates here.

I had wondered if the Chase offers were regional. We just used an offer for Pies and Pints. I had it on probably 5 cards. It is a very small chain with only 15 locations. Thought it was a weird thing for a Chase offer. I have never heard of Postmates.

Can you use Overdrive/Libby?
That was actually in the email I got, libby is new for them. Now I have to figure out another app...
Dh and I just saw how to train your dragon 3 and I LOVED it!!! Such a good ending to the series
Last night I took one of my mysterious visas and bought digital copies of the first two because I'd never seen them. We might go to the third this weekend.

Yes. I'm torn on Europe, bc part of me wants to go while I'm still platinum. But then dh has his theme park requests and a lot aren't open til summer, which cant be booked now anyways.
I gotta use my $300 Resort credit and Uber credit on that Lux.
Ok, see I need to upgrade my personal to lux and then go to use the resort credit plus DHs uber credit

But Greece . . .

My idea of a good cruise to Greece starts in Venice and spends more than one day in Croatia, Montenegro, etc. Sadly, DCL didn't come through for me. We will likely do something like this on another line, during the off season (July in the Med is pretty unbearable for some of us). Yet another thing on my "aspirational travel" list. I'm glad they are going to Greece in any event.

Pretty sure we still have some glaciers in the Sierra Nevada, and up Mt Shasta's way.

Speaking of the Sierra Nevadas, we did not win a lottery slot for the Yosemite loop hike. Gonna try to login in the morning and see what's left - am hoping we can still cobble something together.

As lovely as a cruise sounds, I think I'd like to experience Greece via land. Its on our insanely long travel bucket list.

Good luck!

Just no plural.
