Your post brought back some fond memories. DD devoured the books you mentioned (and so many more I can't even remember). She was an avid reader until she was in HS and had so much assigned reading that she barely had time to read for enjoyment. There's something wrong with that...

Mine, too. Now it's work work work for her and she cannot remember the last "fun" book she read, which is sad. Even worse, all the books I've bought for her for school amazon thinks I have interest in and keeps recommending crazy stuff I'd never read. No thanks, I want an escape from reality, not a treatise on Central America/politics/other boring stuff. Keep it light and fluffy amazon

Which appt are you using? I am able to return right away with Overdrive.

I use Overdrive and I also can't seem to return ebooks early. My hold on the last Crazy Rich Asians book came through a couple weeks ago and I realized I wasn't going to have time to read it so I returned it through the app. It didn't come off my Kindle and my loan didn't end until just the other day. I can't see any other way to return it other than through the app

DH took off his label when a waitress commented on it and it embarrassed him. Haha. But now he gets mad when he has to ask which card to use. It’s easier when meeting MSR. I just say use this unless I tell you otherwise.

I think we made it through the intro phase of labels with no outside comments or that might have happened to us! He used to say things like, what must people think of that... now if someone does comment, hes just like my wife is awesome and books all of travel for free with credit card points, so this is how I use the right card I would be sad if I couldn't get him to maximize his spend because he does way more solo spending than me usually. I can't go out for lunch from work (but the vending machine codes as dining ) plus dont typically stop for snackseither. DH will also have random reimbursable work expenses for jobs that can run a couple hundred bucks. Most of my eating out we are together. He also spends more on gas (and is even more likely to do the fill up now that we've carpoolling). I limit it to 4 cards, basically so he can see each one in his wallet without digging. Right now its CSR, Discover, Freedom, and Arrival as a catch all.

I use overdrive to download books on my iPad....once I mistakenly hit the kindle option and it stayed borrowed the entire time....
.I hit ...download EPUB ebook....and the books are downloaded to the app...where I can return them early....don’t know if that’s an option on your kindle

Hmmm I don't see that option... I'll have to dig around more. We have Libby now too which I've heard is better, but I haven't switched over yet. I use Overdrive for audiobooks more than anything since that's how I "read" most of my books now.

Did some looking. Cant find anything in my kindle app on my cheap android tablet to return early, I tried some in my account and they aren't listed as checked out anymore. Looks like Hoopla let's me do 10 books a month and I can return early. Will have to try overdrive next... I think I downloaded it but almost everything has had a kindle download. I might have to switch just because I feel bad when I finish in a day or two but have it for 2-3 weeks. I'm never gonna get those other two cat mysteries! I need to know what happened to my cat detectives

Was feeling bad about my (still pending) in limbo citi biz app so applied DH (with my gold biz 20k referral) for the BBP. We needed it before I plan to cancel his Green biz in August to hold his MRs. He only has the Green biz which we never use and SPG biz. I purposely put quite a bit of spend on the spg biz and a purchase or two on the green biz. Instant approval and no pop up!! so hopefully he gets the bonus. If not we needed the card anyways and the referral bonus is good.

I was a hugeeeeee reader growing up but when I hit college just didn't have much time. I was so happy to start again after I graduated. Actually after graduation and Dh and I went long distance, hed be like oh I called/texted a couple times over the last 6 hours, where have you been? Uh, on the couch reading a book from cover to cover..

This year is history and the classics. I need to pick up the pace some though. I've been binge watching The Wire for the third time and doing a puzzle instead

My parents also received precheck free most times they flew in the past few years. They looked into it and apparently a lot of people their age get it. Apparently they hated not having it the few times they didn't receive it (they fly out of MCO several times a year) that they paid to have it for real awhile back. I didn't realize they had done that until my mom talked about driving to the airport for their appointment. Could have coached them on how to get it for free!

I went to the Aerosmith website and they've got me confused.

National Harbor is just south of DC in Maryland and there is an MGM casino there.

Inner Harbor is in Baltimore - the National Aquarium, Maryland Science Center et al.

Yet Aerosmith's website says National Harbor - Baltimore, Md.

Is Aerosmith confused or is it just me?

@GlamMistress - is your husband doing business in DC or Baltimore - because if it's Baltimore you will have an hour's drive to National Harbor's MGM casino.

It's at the MGM National Habor. DH is working at the Gaylord National Harbor. It looks like they are 1 mile apart. At least I think...

I found my cat mystery series I used to read and reread all the old ones plus read the new ones i hadn't read yet but now the two newest are checked out. One on the only one and I think will come up tomorrow. But the other I'm 4th and I'm like, but that's two months....

I'm not a big fan of Hoopla. I don't like that you only get 3 checkouts per month. One of the other libraries I use has a program called Bridges and when you return an item you get that back. So you can have 3 at a time, but there isn't a limit for each month how many you can take.

Maybe I need to switch. Most I've downloaded the kindle version since my ereading started with kindle unlimited. I haven't used overdrive yet. I've done Hoopla for a few, not sure or didnt notice there was a limit

I can return ebooks early through Libby. I can not return ebooks early through Overdrive. To return Kindle books early without Libby, I need to go to my amazon account, to Your Content and Devices, and then select the book I want to return. There is an option in the small menu to "return library book." You do not see the book as returned on your kindle until you turn wifi on. Sometimes I deliberately do not turn on my kindle's wifi when I haven't yet finished a book that was automatically returned I'll read my other library ebooks on Libby until I finish it

My state-wide library system (lol, small state) allows 7 ebook checkouts and 10 holds at a time. I can request a book be added to the system every 14 days. Once the book has 2 requests they will purchase it and those 2 people get to read the book first I have my account set-up to automatically borrow an ebook when it becomes available to me, so no more remembering to go into Libby/the library website to snag the book.

Now I just label cards and if I notice he is habitually using the wrong card I mention it. But I still have these thoughts about the one off purchases

My dh is actually getting to be so well-trained. He knows when the CF quarters end and comes to me with his wallet all dumped out and asks me to re-label for any changes. I love that! He either loves me and what this hobby provides OR he's scared to death of my wrath for using the wrong card

I'm going to buy label maker for other purposes, but I can see labeling dh's cards might work well. He's always asking me which card he should use

I was pretty pumped to catch the Sherlock Holmes collection, Jane Austen collection, and Sleepy Hollow for free on Kindle last week. I need to mix in more classics. I used to do a lot of the little Barnes and Noble paperback line, that were like buy 2 get 1 free? I haven't been in Barnes and Noble in a long time. Also I want to reread some things - like I read Animal Farm in middle school, but I think a lot went over my head... lol. I like to mix in my modern fluffy stories or rereads with the classics. I mainly binge-read/reread tons of my collection after college, no classics (even though all I read in college was science textbooks).

Another free precheck story. My 13 year old step-daughter got it on her return flight after our cruise last month. She was so mad that DH made her go through the regular line so he could accompany her to the gate! All the more reason to get him GE I guess haha.
