I apologize as I am sure this has been asked many times but I couldn't locate the answer with a quick search.

I have Cap One Venture miles and am looking at a DVC booking. Cap One will let me redeem the miles on the DVC rentals as long as the charge is coded travel. There are two agencies - David's Disney and DVC Rental Store. I found some posts from 2017 on other forums that stated that DVC Rental Store is a travel agency and the charges come through as travel expenses for redemption. I found some comments in another thread that David's Disney Rentals also comes through as a travel charge (although under a parent name).

Anyone recently used Cap One Venture reward points for this?
Don’t have an answer regarding cap
One but last I knew David’s is out of Canada so be careful if you have a foreign transaction fee.

Anyone called the DRU department to get a hold on their accounts lifted? Hoping it's just a simple address verification...and of course they only work 9-4:30 M-F. Tips? I'm feeling stressed about this :(

I know this is for cc but I know you are all so knowledgeable about finances. We are planning a trip out west for 2 weeks. From JFK to San Diego and Vegas to JFK. My husband would rather fly out on a Saturday and we always fly JetBlue (have their cc). I also have a $75 credit for each of us (family of 5) because I complained about 2 delays the last time we flew. I see a flight for $171 direct, morning flight on a Friday. We would rather fly on the weekend but I think this is a good price (I check every day). I never know when to bite the bullet and book. Does this seem like a good price? We get free checked bags with my JetBlue CC. and will apply our $75 travel bank. Does that seem like a good price? It's nonstop.

Leaving from PHL so the only "lounge" here is the MinuteSuites, so not really a lounge. You get like an hour in a cubicle for those. So no lounge at departure or arrival either. :headache::headache::headache:

This will learn me to chase cheap point flights rather than verifying the layovers.
I did luck out and our flight to Seattle in Sept we get close to an hour in DEN so we might be able to try Timberline :)

I don't have Lain's spreadsheet, so I can't remember everything, but do you have any of the AMEX cards that would let you into the Centurion lounge? The one at PHL is quite nice.

Well since it’s been a week with no word I finally just called the status line about my CIP and it said I was approved and should be expecting my card in 7-10! I’m glad but also why no email notification?

Also, I guess I need a game plan now!
Wait...when you said a week with no word...you weren't checking the automated status line daily...or hourly?? I'm so sorry we didn't mention this to you but you may never get an email notification. When we go pending most of us check that status line every hour (I'm guilty of doing it in the middle of the night if I wake up!). Well CONGRATS!!!! A new CIP is one of the most exciting stories on this thread anyday :) :)

If you used a DISchurners link, please make sure to let that person know. I'm sure they'll want to thank you :thumbsup2

If you didn't use DISchurners...well ask @amalone1013 how that turns out...(KIDDING!!!!!!)

Is that round trip? If so, I'd jump on it if I was looking to pay cash.

I had to call once when trying to transfer money, and I must have answered the verification questions wrong. I had to give them amounts of debits so have your account pulled up. It wasn't too difficult but still took 10-15 minutes, which is why I won't be keeping my account when six months is up. Or at the very least will pull from another account.

I'm not even gonna go back and try to read the 200+ pages I'm likely behind. I've been MIA dealing w/ the Ex who dumped me (the long distance one that got me more intro running CCs). Anywho, despite him dumping me and starting to date someone local RIGHT AWAY, he called me last week (on Valentine's Day nonetheless) saying he was second guessing this and regretting this. It's been a lovely month for me, I've lost 18lbs (my ex-husband told me I need a burger, LOL). But I think I'm getting back on my path. So I think I'll try to be back in the group.

I'm trying to figure out a Spring Break for my kids. All the airfare is still $$$. Last year I scored some great flights last minute. So maybe I'll get lucky again this year. It feels weird to not be meeting a spend right now. But I think I'm going to try and hold out if I can and get under 5/24.

I'm hoping to meet my 30 transactions sooner than later and get my $750 bonus w/ Huntington. How fast do they normally post it?

Ohhh...the app. No I don’t have that. I only use the website on my laptop. Do most people use the app? I guess I will download that since it would be nice to see my offers when I’m out.
The offers are ONLY on the app. But once you add them, they will be there no matter how you use the card.

I am a little biased since I work for an insurance company, so I don't give them the entire blame. Our entire health care funding system is screwed up. I got a little insight from a 60 Minutes story a few months ago. The drug companies give consumers a break through these programs and then bill the insurance company a large amount.

So in my case, I only paid $120 OOP but my insurance company paid $35K and the drug company ate the rest. Who knows what the cost really is or if my insurance company is subsidizing others without insurance. Like I said, the entire funding system seems screwed up. Right now I am benefiting and sorry to say, I am ok with that. Given this stuff is keeping my DH from going blind, I'd pay the $57K if I had to but it is nice not to have to worry about needing to.
I’m not just blaming insurance companies and I think your husband should get everything he needs. Without bankrupting your family.
It’s interesting that in same cases the insurance company is paying a large amount because when you’re hospitalized, the hospital eats a lot of the costs. For instance everybody complains about the $120 (or $1200, depending on the story) aspirin someone was billed for. But in reality most hospitals get paid a certain amount depending on diagnosis If your diagnosed with pneumonia, the insurance co pays 20k (totally made up number) when your stay could have cost the hospital 20k or 50k. The system is so messed up.

He doesn’t take meds but I can warn him ahead. Really I had no idea it was that intense. I’m hoping they let kids stay with a parent.
I took my 12 year old a couple months ago and they definitely let me stay with him. It was really easy and everyone was really nice. Hoping you have a good experience! I have kids with anxiety also and I know how tricky that can be.

This is not the answer you want. I have no idea about this DRU department but I do know most tales of when PNC puts people into verification tend to be a big pain if you don’t have a physical branch nearby to complete the process.

I deal with stress by having a plan for my worst case scenario. Imho the worst case scenario here is your money will be locked up with PNC for a few weeks, you’ve been in this long enough I’m sure you have a financial plan in case that happens so you’re ok. It could suck getting it sorted out but at the end of the day you’re going to be ok.

Several nice things to report from the churning world today:

The 150k Hilton points from the SUB on DH's Ascend hit his account today. I was very happy to see them because they took a while longer to show up than I am used to with Amex SUBs (altho I realize this was DH's account and it's only his second Amex), so I was starting to wonder if he might be in a no pop up, no bonus situation. I've already put in a request to transfer those points into my Hilton account since I am Diamond. I love how easy Hilton makes it to pool and transfer points!!

Airline fee reimbursements posted for both my personal Plat and my Aspire (I started with $100 there). So I went ahead and bought another $150 SW gc with my Aspire today to finish that credit out before there are any changes with SW gcs working for the credit.

I had placed an order last weekend for some stuff at Dell with my Biz Plat. I saw one reimbursement this week for 10% off part of the order. But Dell charged the items individually and is shipping them in three batches, so I was a little worried about the $100 statement credit working correctly. But today there were a number of credits in my Biz Plat account that add up to the full 10% off for the whole order plus about 3/4 of the $100 statement credit which ties to the items that have shipped. I was very happy to see those reimbursements given the way Dell processed the order! I'm assuming the remainder of the $100 credit will post after the remaining items ship.

I've got a Chase Tax Document in my informed delivery email today. Hopefully that's the correction!

Do let us know! Nothing for me yet.

And they let you stay with the kids, right?

We were in a room that was probably 10x10 with just 2 or 3 cubes. They interviewed me in one cube and my oldest daughter in another at the same time. Then they interviewed my youngest daughter. For us, it really wasn't that big of a deal. I think they just asked my oldest basic questions like where are you traveling, etc. I hope you have a good experience.

Well, it looks like it’s time for me to get back in the bonus hunting game!

I am looking at trying to get a whole lot of miles as the alternative is about $12k pp in cash >.<

I have to get from somewhere in the US to Bergen then London to Amsterdam then Reykjavik to somewhere in the US

I haven’t even started and it’s overwhelming!!

I believe you are the OP from the orginal thread. Bumping this for you as I don't have advice for you, but others might. It would help others who are knowledgeable about international travel with rewards if you listed all the cards you opened in the last two years - and the dates you opened them. There are people here who can help you, but they most likely need more information.
