Any of my American Airlines experts know whether an umbrella will be a problem in carry on? Their website has no results for "umbrella." I rarely fly, but at the moment the Anaheim forecast shows rain for next weekend (December 6-7) and I want to be prepared.

I would take the collapsible sort.

I got DD1 the IPad Pro 10.5 512 GB for $599 on the WM Black Friday deal. I was hoping to stream Disney+. I think our internet is just really slow because we are getting kicked out regularly on the Disney+ site. I have been able to download movies for her, which might be easier for her in the end. I would definitely consider her a creature of habit. She has watched the same 2 movies on her iPad mini daily for the last 3 years and won’t let me change them:rolleyes1. I’m hoping to expand her “box”.
DH and DM both need new iPads, their VERY old ones aren’t compatible with some of the Apps they want. I’m looking at the 11in iPad Pro because of the A12X chip but I’m really open to opinions and ideas. DH might like the smart keyboard, mom not so much. DH mostly downloads and reads books but does some web surfing. Is the Pro more than he needs?? I think Mom might do some streaming, so I was wondering if it is better to get her the wifi + cellular. Mom is on my ATT plan and I’m wondering if she streams to much how will that affect the slowing of my unlimited data? I’m seeing something at ATT with unlimited streaming for $99/month, which might be better for her than a regular internet plan. I’m a little overwhelmed as I study the options and reviews.

I don’t know if I’ve taken an umbrella on American specifically, but I’ve taken one on SW many times. Since everyone goes through the same TSA screening, should be fine on American too.

Streaming does suck up bandwidth, and if others are online at the same time, you'd need a good speed - 40Mbps min IMO, probably more. But, Disney servers could be getting hit hard also and having issues.

For the iPads, it really depends on whether you're buying for 'want' or 'need' a lot of the time :-) . I have the 11" pro and love it; upgraded last year from the 10.5". I wanted the largest screen I could get, and the pencil, but the biggest reason was because the smart keyboard has no protection for the back of the iPad. I don't know what they were thinking with that design. It works fine, but I didn't want to scratch up the back. I suppose I might have been able to get some sort of cover for the back that would work with the keyboard, but I didn't try. The other difference is the 1st gen vs 2nd gen pencil. The 1st gen has a lightning plug that you need to use to charge the pencil, so while charging you have the pencil sticking out of the iPad ????? The 2nd gen sticks to the side of the iPad magnetically and charges there as well. Much better. Oh - and starting with the 11" Pro, the connector is USB-C, so no more using whatever cable is handy to charge.....

As far as the specs go, I would say the iPad Air 10.5" would be a great fit, or even the least expensive basic iPad for the uses you describe. The Air is slightly better and will likely work for a longer period as iOS upgrades each year. Cellular adds $130. I'm not familiar with the ATT plan, so I can't speak to that, but I think a better use of your $$ would be to upgrade your home Internet speed for better streaming. If your mom needs streaming capabilities outside the home, can't download first and can't get wifi, then maybe consider the cellular plan.

We watched Kitbull last night which was cute but sad. DS wasn’t really paying attention but I noticed the sad details. Ironically we just had a discussion about dog fighting/abuse yesterday because DS was watching football “best of” vids on YouTube and Michael Vick was included.

Do you list each store or offer separately in your app? I use AnyList grocery app but I’d have to manually add each so not sure it’s worth it.
I created a 'Shopping List' called CC Offers and enter the offers as an individual item. So instead of steak, eggs and cheese it's 12/7 $100 Happy online Gold, 12/31 $350 Staples online Delta Plat, 12/2 Krogers DGC 4xFuel Gold, ect. I modify the item with the date I bought it before crossing it off my list when I purchase it so I have a record of the that date also. I started a spreadsheet too that tracks whether I used other CB sites, if they actually paid out, and what the overall % saved was, but I'm not sure I'm going to keep it up.

I want to refer DH for a Hilton Surpass from my Hilton Aspire. I thought you could refer to any personal Amex, but I only have the option to refer to another Aspire. How would I refer him to another Amex? Or am I mistaken? (I believe you can't refer a business card from a personal card).

You can refer from biz to personal and back. When you send the referral the person should be able to click in and hit “see all personal cards” or “looking for a business card”. It will send the referral for the card you have, and then they can change before they apply. (Its worked this way on the 2 I have done at least).

Cobrands can only support to the same cobrand. Non-cobrand can support to all. Do you have a Hilton Biz? If the goal is Hilton points, that's at 20k instead of Aspire's 15k. Otherwise, for MRs, gold biz is the highest currently at 25k. As @orangecuse already said, personal or biz doesn't matter. You'll have to click see more cards for the other options.

That is BRILLIANT! I will be copying you for sure. Just last week I "reused" a Lowe's offer that I know the bonus won't show up a second time. 😩

I am able to refer from my Aspire for the Surpass. You should have View All Cards with a Referral Offer button and on the next screen, you should see the Surpass.

Was originally planning a 2 night pre-cruise stay in Seattle. But then came across the Boeing factory tour. Thought that'd be cool to see, DS especially should be interested. Well, if I add a night, we would be leaving on a Tuesday, but that means if we just take one more day off we have the whole week. And so...that's how 2 nights became 7. Which seems to be a common theme with me!

Decided to book the Charter Hotel, Curio Collection with Hilton 5th night free. 2 rooms (taking parents), so will completely wipe out my HH points and will need like 5000 MRs to top off (lucky I have the transfer bonus on my account). DH is Diamond with the Aspire and I'm Gold (with a whole bunch of cards). Thinking I should have one room under each of us so we get free breakfast for at least 4 (if both rooms under DH, maybe we'd only get it for 2? not too sure). From TA reviews looks like it's $18 credit/person in their restaurant. Put my parents room under DH's account and hoping they get upgraded to the 1 bedroom, which only fits 2. Getting 0.55 cpp, which I guess is acceptable for HH points.

Since HH points balance will be wiped out and we need 2 more nights, booked the Hyatt House right near the Space Needle. They have coin laundry, which will be sorely needed before getting on the cruise. Had an interesting experience booking that with the Hyatt Concierge Twitter account. Online, it's only possible to book a King with a sofa bed for 4. Didn't really want anyone sleeping on a sofa bed, so thought I'd ask if other rooms are bookable on points. She ends up accidentally booking the Hyatt PLACE (not House) for me. But then quickly fixes it after I tell her. However, both my confirmations say 1 adult/1 child for the King without sofa bed. She tells me that there are notes in my reservation for an upgrade to connecting rooms and that's not actually the room types I'll get. So then I call the hotel directly to verify. There are indeed notes and sounds like I'll get a King connected to a Queen. Which will be great. But it makes me nervous not having the 4 occupancy listed in the confirmation that I can see (I can't see any of the notes online). Think I'll call the hotel again when it gets closer. If it all works out, I'll be singing the praises of the Twitter team, lol.

Thanks for this heads up! I don't have the Hilton Biz (or any Amex Biz). But if I referred him and he got the Hilton Biz then down the road he could refer me for the Hilton Biz. I am not sure if I am going to keep my Aspire when it comes up for renewal (although we have gotten great value of of it in year 1).

Thanks @orangecuse for the tip of being able to refer personal-bus if we go that route, and @Alexle2007 for the screen shots. I will log back in after dinner and bedtime and try again! :)

I love your math, LOL! We are also cruising from Seattle this summer (Alaska on NCL), but I haven;t looked for hotels yet. I will check these out. What were your criteria for location?

There are so many cool things to do in WA state! We will have a week before the cruise to explore, so I have to decide where we are going to go. It will be hard to narrow it down. Planning 2 nights before and 1 night after the cruise in Seattle. I will definitely need coin laundry before we sail.

I booked two rooms under my name for a conference and my co-worker also received free breakfast on his room. My other co-worker was upset that she was stuck eating the yucky conference food.

I am thinking about applying for a WF Propel. I have a WDW trip in Feb, and so I need to buy DW tickets soon. As I always do when I have a decent chunk of spend, I am considering which card to use, or apply for, and which SUB to hit. Given the Propel's 3x "travel" category, does anyone here know if WDW tickets purchased from Undercover Tourist code as 3x bonus category on the WF Propel?

Thanks!
