I guess I got lucky disputing w/ Chase. IHG got me to book a "vacation package" this summer. When they sold it to me, they told me I'd be staying on property. I googled the package and from what I read, (much like the Sheratons I had stayed at) people stayed on property. When I went to book the Myrtle Beach location, they told me I'd be staying at a Staybridge suites like 20 min from the beach. I called IHG first to dispute it. They claimed they would review the tape (from the call). I called Chase to start the process, and they managed to get the $249 back from IHG on my IHG Chase. The weird thing is IHG keeps calling me to book the package.
That's interesting, I bit on the IHG offer also but mostly because the guy kept saying I could cancel at any time. No worries your a plat member yada yada. I tried to book one resv and it didn't work out so I asked to cancel and they were like "Oh no you can't cancel". Sounds like maybe I should try to dispute it.

@wendow look into the Hyatt Grand Cypress. It’s close to DS and a great deal on points if available. Paid parking but they don’t seem to charge for the resort fee on points. Large rooms, many with a view of DS and even some parks in the distance. Awesome pools too.
Not available on points. Thanks for the thought though! I’m gonna keep that one in mind for other trips down.

My DD is eyeing my Jeep also. I don't love it, feels too big for me but do love all the safety features it has which is why I bought it. I called around until I found a dealer that would let me pay the down payment with a cc. This dealer said I could put as much as I wanted on the cc so I put 10k down :) I would probably consider trading in if I found a 0 to low finance option. I would like to take the VW Atlas for a test drive. I'm going to try to rent one during my January trip.
My daughter got the Atlas a few months ago and really really likes it......it’s too big for me but I’m a small car person...love my Hyundai Elantra

I have a 2019 Kia Niro Plug-in hybrid and I love it! I still haven't figured out all the bells and whistles on it (apparently I can do remote start but I haven't tried). I loved the heated steering wheel and seat heaters yesterday when it was in the teens outside. I've gone over 4100 miles on 21 gals of gas so far, so I've gotten close to 195 mpg because of the plug in feature and my driving around is mostly on the battery. On hybrid alone it's around 60 mpg. We have solar panels, and surprisingly, I haven't really noticed any notable increase in our electricity usage. It will be interesting to see what happens to the mpg as we head into winter and it gets colder, I expect it will get worse. I thought I would miss my Odyssey more than I do haha.

Sounds like you got a great deal on yours! Our dealer let us put down 5K on a cc too, and I'll be getting almost 10K back as a tax credit from federal and state combined.
Ok you got my attention. How far can you go on a charge? I have a 2017 Grand Cherokee that I have put 60k miles on already, my mpg is probably 10% of yours. My DD is 270 away is that within the range. I wonder if that cc limit is a Kia thing or if it's up to the dealer?

It’s a dealer thing. If you are financing, there are more strict rules about it but cash buyers have more flexibility. It’s something you can negotiate too. We were recently told we could put 1k on a cc but we’ve bought several cars from this dealer and I asked if we could Do more and they allowed the entire $5.5k.

Thanks!

We bought the 2019 Kia Niro (non-touring) hybrid in April. Dh is getting 55-60 mpg and fills up once a month now, instead of once a week.

I'm planning on a plug-in to replace my 2002 Grand Caravan, but I need to wait a year or two. I've mentioned before that I'd love to get VW's reimagined-to-electric Bus whenever it becomes available. I really want something that with a long range so we can roadtrip in it!

@Judique we'll be driving our Niro down to WDW in March :car:
I will be watching for Kia Niro road trip reports from you and @Judique!

Well, since mine is a plug-in hybrid, it has a smaller battery than a full electric vehicle so it only goes about 24 miles on battery only. I plug it in overnight in my garage into a regular 110V outlet. Most of my day-to-day driving is under 30 miles running errands and whatnot. But since it's also a hybrid, once the battery is depleted, it can go into hybrid mode and in that mode it will go over 600 miles on a tank of gas. I've gone 1000 miles since my last fill-up and still have 1/2 tank left!

This year the Kia Niro EV came out, and it is supposed to go 239 miles on a full battery. Looks like that's not enough to get to your DD though. That's kind of an issue with the EVs - "range anxiety" - and I don't have the concern about range since mine still runs on gas when needed. I see the plug-in hybrid as the best of both worlds.

I get that completely, my DD was my favorite travel partner but I don't expect she'll have much time for traveling with me anymore (😥), my DM was pretty good when she was younger but now I can't sleep in the same room with her-her sleep apnea keeps me on my toes-am I going to have to resuscitate her-which isn't good for sleep-no sleep equals bad mood. Now my favorite travel partner is...me, which sounds horrible but is true.:o

You never know. Mine is busy, but tries her best to free up her schedule so she can travel with us. Don't underestimate the lure of a free trip to an interesting, far off location to young adults who are still in school. :goodvibes
