I want Dh to apply for his CIC because my CIP is almost done but we’ll be on the cruise until the 9th so I’m not sure if we should wait until we get back or not. We’re holding our mail if that makes a difference?

Honestly, if DH applies for a CIC today he’ll most likely not get auto-approved. He may get approved tomorrow; if not, then Monday. And by then it’ll take about a week from approval for the card to arrive by snail mail. So you’re likely looking at delivery around the 9th or later anyway.

Yes EWR is an easy airport IMO! But hey I also don’t mund ATL so take that as you may haha

Churningwin-

My husband got a new job and he has to book his own flight and hotel and rental car for training and then will be reimbursed. Okay no problem!
I also have to book a $700 CEU and will get reimbursed.
Easy $1400ish MSR help there!

That's the night we have booked for the MVMCP Party. We are just taking quick trip down as never been at Christmas and I have points... So just doing the party on that Sunday and then I bought the 2 day Afternoon Tickets. So as of right now will do Hollywood Studios on the 16th. And Epcot on the 17th. (they are open until 11:30 that night). Having breakfast at Ale & Compass at Yacht Club that gets us seating for the Candlelight Processional that evening. Can't wait!! Now I hope the weather cooperates.
We're running into HS before we fly out on the 16th :) I hope the weather cooperates too! We've been once at this same time of year and we almost froze. Thankfully, we were prepared so we stayed warm but I was disappointed. When I leave CO in the winter, I want WARMTH lol!

Trying to find a place to stay from Feb 1-5. I'm very willing to stay offsite since this trip won't be about the parks (though we will go in some) and more about getting my dd set up for her DCP. It appears to be a busy time because prices are high and many resorts are sold out. Wasn't expecting that for early Feb!

Anyways, I'd love some recs for offsite resorts. Something in the DS area would be great. Something that provides breakfast would be nice. I looked at the Doubletree in DS. That's a definite maybe. WBC is sold out for 1-bed. It's just 4 of us so I don't need anything too big. So, any places you've stayed that you'd stay at again?

I noticed the recent Marriott Bonvoy Amex Offer (spend $300+/get $60) is gone from the Amex Connect site and it disappeared probably over a week ago from my MR-earning cards that had been targeted. I know some of us were waiting for this Offer to show up on our Bonvoy cards or to be able to add it to our Bonvoy cards manually. I’m guessing the Offer reached full enrollment.

anything has to be better than what we have here!!!
I'm looking at it from the perspective of someone who lives in CO. Our winters are surprisingly warm, even when temps are low, it can feel pretty nice. FL was having a cold snap when we were there so it was 40's at night and in their damp climate, it was pretty darn chilly! I think normal Dec isn't too bad and I'm hoping we get that this time.

So I failed at going to Lowe’s for the $15/100 Amex offer. It ends today, am I too late?
I saw it this morning and sent my husband but they didn’t let him buy it with my card. They asked him if I would text a picture of my ID but since I never changed my last name, they said they couldn’t accept it. Neither of us had been asked for ID for a ($100) card purchase before.

In other annoying news, got a call from Chase fraud that my new Ink had been compromised. I’ve been using it for all of two weeks. :(. They did do a great job of catching it immediately (a $1 charge at a gas station) but I need the card in hand to keep working on the MSR.

The mac & cheese at Homecomin' is so good, way more cheese than I expected and plenty for lunch. However I was very disappointed in the hushpuppies. Glad I was able to get a half order but they didn't taste like corn (if you've had them you know what I mean) at all and the peppers the waitress said you couldn't taste you could some and they had a kick to them. So one craving satisfied without having to make it myself but the hunt for hush puppies is still on. I don't want to make them myself.

@jhoannam I have done them on the last day before and have had them credit with no issues, I just try to avoid it for ease of mind. If you really want it I'd just go ASAP today, I think you would have a good argument if it doesn't credit (take screenshots!) but just keep in the back of your mind there'd be a chance you miss the $15. Have to decide if it's worth the risk for you :)

Oh crud, I forgot to stop at Lowe's earlier this week! And now it's pouring argh

I will be keeping a close eye on the weather before we leave. I don't mind having to wear a sweatshirt and Jeans but I would prefer not having to wear a winter coat and stuff. I get enough of that in MN too!!

Awesome I think we’ll probably go ahead and have him apply. I wanna take advantage of the staples visas when we get back from the cruise!

We've stayed at both the Hilton and Waldorf in BC and loved both of them. The Hilton is probably more family friendly and depending on your Hilton status you can get quite the perks. Of course, I haven't looked at your dates for either of these, they could be crazy high too.

Both sound amazing to me, thanks for the review! Homecomin' will be on my list if I ever get to MCO and leave the airport :)

INCREASED AMEX OFFER FOR BLUE BUSINESS PREFERRED
Old links will NOT update automatically BUT if you generate a new link for the BBP it will show 15k MRs for $5k MSR. (This is an increased offer vs. the standard 10,000 MRs for $3k MSR). It says the offer expires in 1/29/20.

I guess it's hard to say whether 5,000 more MRs is worth $2k MSR BUT it's always nice to apply for the highest offer anytime you get an Amex card.

Additionally, if you have a BBP you will RECEIVED 15k MRs if you generate a link from that card. AND you can generate a link to ANY other Amex card including the increased personal Delta offers.

I know there's lots to unpack here but a quick summary:
  • For those looking to APPLY for a BBP, check out the increased offers some risers are sharing on The DISchurners Amex Page
  • For those with support links on DISchurners, update your BBP link (you can also leave the old link if you want to show both offers)
  • For those holding a BBP currently, regenerate your Amex support links FROM that card to earn 15k MRs for ANY support click to any other Amex card.

@wendow look into the Hyatt Grand Cypress. It’s close to DS and a great deal on points if available. Paid parking but they don’t seem to charge for the resort fee on points. Large rooms, many with a view of DS and even some parks in the distance. Awesome pools too.

I was very casually looking at new GMC Acadia's to possibly replace my Jeep which older daughter has been driving. Just starting a search and my searches are usually pretty detailed. I've looked at hybrids in the past but although Toyota is a great vehicle, our family has only owned one in all my life and that was a free one a neighbor was sending for scrap (a family member fixed it up and used it for 3 years). The Prius just never appealed.

The dealer had this one sitting up front and I asked 'what's that' casually. Took a look inside and left it be. Later on took DD up to look with me and we both liked all the features. Took it for a test drive and got a good price well below blue book, nada, etc and then just paid cash. Easier than messing with financing and I would have wanted to pay it off right away anyway. I didn't tell him how I was going to pay until he committed to a price, but I did ask how much on a credit card. I put the first $5K on a 2 % cash back card to get the cash back. Would have put the whole car on the card but they would only go 5K.

But, dealers lie. The salesman said the car had been on the lot 17 days. I saw it on the internet and it had '18 views in 7 days'. So he says to me, 'we just got this in. Only had it three days. These fly off the lot.' I guess he wanted me to feel like I was hopping on a deal. I think I got a deal, but the real deal is to pay a fair price and get a good product that performs. This was a corporate fleet car according to Carfax. Since it's rather small and small mileage, I can see it sitting in a corner while the corporate people drove the bigger offerings - just my imagination, but I'll take what they cast off. It was never a lease and only had the one corporate owner.

Haven't decided if I'll drive it to Florida. One of my friends had to drop off the trip, so there are just two of us. I am kind of liking the idea of 40+ MPG and cutting my fuel costs to a third.
And I've looked at all the options on the Kia website and haven't found remote start yet on the new ones. (I could have missed it.) Next will be to get out the manual. The key fob doesn't say start and the car has push button so I don't know what's going on. This was an option on my 'want' list so I'm really curious.
My DD is eyeing my Jeep also. I don't love it, feels too big for me but do love all the safety features it has which is why I bought it. I called around until I found a dealer that would let me pay the down payment with a cc. This dealer said I could put as much as I wanted on the cc so I put 10k down :) I would probably consider trading in if I found a 0 to low finance option. I would like to take the VW Atlas for a test drive. I'm going to try to rent one during my January trip.
