I meant to post this yesterday but things got crazy with the power outages around the Bay Area. Anyway, for any Plane Princesses out there who like First Class transatlantic, I was able to find great 1st class fares from SFO to LHR next Sept. using the AARP link and the Chase BA 10% code. I was booking late Sept. so I had to go this route as those dates still aren't up on the Amex and Chase calendars (super annoying!), but early Sept. dates might be able to find the same fares and pay with MRs or Chase URs. They might all be gone though as Spencer Howard just sent out an email about even cheaper 1st Class RT fares from Newark and JFK for Dec to Feb. Those were sub $2000. Mine was about $2400 a person from SFO, which is pretty amazing for 1st class direct. It's a sickness!

I know, I wish we had something bigger nearby. DCA and IAD are two hours from us, so it can be worth it sometimes, like our nonstop flight to LAX last year for 12.5k United miles one way. But United offers one stop flights to HNL from RIC for not much more than the flights from DC (or sometimes even cheaper). With the Hawaii flight market kind of expanding and flights opening up all over the place, I'm trying to keep my points currency really fluid right now since I'm not sure what airline I'll want to book on for next year when we go.

I think you're smart as the airlines figure out how low HI will dip with SW entering the market.

I'm not sure the drive to IAD or DCA would be worth it for me...I guess it would depend on how cheaply I could fly F/J to Europe or Africa. Right now I'm sort of the positioning flight princess (don't want to take away any titles from @calypso726 or her DH 😝 ).

And a side note, I've flown in and out of ORF since the early 80s...it's so scary that is really hasn't changed much in all that time. It's weird.

Am I forgetting that you're in the Hampton Roads area? I feel like someone here told me they were a long time ago, and maybe I just forgot it was you haha

I was back and forth--high school in Chesapeake, internship/residency in Portsmouth, another stint in Portsmouth. One of my bffs lives in VA Beach so I see her occasionally. I haven't lived there since here (so 18 years) but back enough to realize that other than turning the farmlands in suburbia, nothing has really changed.

I have the revere ware with the copper bottoms also and Farberware that is about 40 years old, but my daughter has grabbed a few pieces from me although she bought a full set of All Clad from Williams Sonoma using thank you points. (credit card related). And confession time - I not only have stainless All Clad, I have a 10 piece copper set which I don't use and I can't stand cleaning them.
My husband wants the copper All Clad, but I said no, a little too rich for my blood!
All-Clad runs "factory seconds" sales periodically to sell wares that may have minor cosmetic damage but nothing that would impair its performance. You can find some pretty significant savings off retail during these sales. However, all sales are final. I’ve bought a few pieces from these sales and have been satisfied with the discounted price vs. quality/condition. The next one is scheduled for November 4-6.

It also seems there’s a sale on packaging damaged items, where the product is flawless but the box is damaged:

This is dangerous information! My DH is a cookware addict and we are phasing out the last of his calphalon (the old professional line, but still never my favorite) to All Clad. He also has a couple beloved cast iron pieces.

I had the old revereware copper bottom growing up, and my dad got me a newer version when I got my first apartment. I left it with my roommate when I got married, but I always preferred it to the Calphalon. I'm much happier with the stainless All Clad.

Just received an email for the Hilton Honors card (personal card) for 80k points after 1k in spend, plus 0% interest for the first 12 months. Not the best SUB out there, but maybe good for someone who wants to grab some points while also parking a big purchase on a 0% card for a few.

Increased Delta offers end tomorrow :(
Was hoping to apply in Dec and DH in Jan
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/increased-american-express-delta-offers-starts-10-1/

I’m super confused by this - perhaps just the “public links”?? All the support link offers go through 1/29/20.

EDIT: This is NOT directed at OP but anybody going for any card here should always consider a DISchurner support link unless a better public link is available. Please give back to our awesome community. :D

Thoughts on the Citi Double Cash card? We are looking for some 0% balance transfer cards to move some of our HELOC onto a card to save on interest. We are currently doing this with some other cards and have saved thousands so far, so at this point, it is as good to us as getting a SUB for us.

The current cards will be expiring in the next 6 months. The Citi offer is 0% for 18 months on balance transfers with no fees. The offer expires on Dec. 15th. It says that the 18 month period starts from the date of first transfer and that a balance transfer must be completed within the first 4 months. So I am thinking, we could wait until close to the deadline for DH to apply and then wait another few months to make a transfer, which would get us close to using the full 15 months on the previous card offer and then be able to take advantage of another 18 months interest-free.

Anything specific that I should know about Citi? Neither I nor DH have any Citi cards yet. Here is DH's card history:

Bank of America BankAmericard - 01/2018
Chase Ink Cash - 03/2018
Chase IHG - 03/2018
Chase Ink Unlimited - 2/2019
American Express Bonvoy Business - 10/19

While @SouthFayetteFan is still sick, he may not get around to this before tomorrow, so...

Here's your friendly reminder that Southwest Airlines' next schedule release is expected to occur TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 30, 2019.
  • Currently SW is offering flights through 4/13/20, and this next release will take their schedule out to 6/6/20 (covering the remainder of spring break season as well as Memorial day but narrowly missing the beginning of "summer break" trips). For those that care about "release timing" it's been all over the board recently (all times eastern).
  • Flights typically go “live” between 7 am and 9 am Eastern. HOWEVER, two of the last three releases did not go live until 10:41 am and 9:20 am Eastern respectively.
    • The release on 9/26/19 went live at 7:30 am.
    • The release on 8/15/19 went live at 10:41 am.
    • The release on 5/30/19 went live at 9:20 am.
Good Luck tomorrow :)
Thank you, I wasn't sure if this was still the date. I've been gone a week at WDW and over 80 pages behind!

In case anyone is interested, I'll share some thoughts from my trip last week.

RESORTS
This was my first time at AKV(home), CCV and SSR.
We stayed 5 nights at AKV Jambo. Beautiful resort, loved, loved, loved the animals outside the balcony. Boma was excellent as expected. Pool was also very nice...DD3 enjoyed the slide.
The one thing that I disliked was the room location. This was the first time my faxed room request on touring plans did not come through. I requested a room close to pool, Zebra trail. I was on the opposite side, Kudu trail, as far as you could get. That walk was horrible and made us not even want to go to the room to change for the pool after walking the parks all day, just to walk all the way back to the pool. It also wasn't convenient to fill our drink mugs at the quick service restaurant. They had nice Halloween mugs though and a great spiked coffee.

We stayed 1 night at CCV. I did not put in a room request and we had the best room! Right near the elevator that led to the pool, and we could see the fireworks at MK! That was a nice surprise. Room was great with the wood floor, and we enjoyed the boat transportation to MK early in the morning. We attended the Snow White Dinner at Artist Point which was very cool. The Evil Queen was so in character and had everyone laughing. I'd definitely stay here again.

SSR was our least favorite. It didn't feel Disney to me and it was just so large. I requested Grandstand and got Main Entrance?? Looking on the resort map it had no food or pool and you needed to bus to both by the looks of it. I'm not familiar with the resort so I could be wrong. Anyway, I decided to ask for a new room location after having a terrible location at AKV. I asked to be put in any section that had a pool so DD could swim without getting on a bus. They happily obliged and put us in Paddock section. It had a nice pool and DD really enjoyed the kiddie splash area there. I had an excellent drink at the pool bar as well, Poolside Iced Tea. Room seemed a little dated. I did not try any of the restaurants in the main section.

FOOD
I loved my meal at Homecomin the most. I had the Fried chicken, doughnuts, and mac and cheese. That mac and cheese is soooo good! DH said his meal was just ok, but he isn't a big southern food person.
Tusker House was very good, I especially liked the salmon. I found Tusker similar to Boma. I enjoyed both buffets.
The Snow White dinner was good for the character interaction but not my favorite food.
Akershus breakfast was actually pretty good, of course DD loved it with all the princesses. I had some sort of spiked coffee here too (on the dining plan if you can't tell, lol)
San Angel Inn dinner- I wanted to love this one but odds were working against me. DD was so tired and not behaving or eating. I ordered the red snapper, which I've never had before, and didn't really love it. The chocolate mousse was very good, though. Not in a rush to go back.
Quick service worth mentioning- the jerk chicken lettuce wraps at Pecos Bills! I was very surprised how good these were. DD really liked the breakfast waffle sandwich at Sleepy Hollow. Corn dog nuggets at Casey's are always a good go-to.

We tried a few things at Food and Wine. DH and I both loved the scallops from the Wine and Dine Studio, definitely our favorite. A close second was the butternut squash ravioli from the same booth. YUM!
Other things we tried worth mentioning- Passion fruit slushy from France, Frozen Rose from Alps, Filet from Canada, Lamp Chop from Australia, and liquid nitro chocolate truffle from Chocolate Studio..mmmm.
DH had the spam from Hawaii and liked it. I had the tuna and it was just ok.

I was able to get my Remi passholder magnet and Minnie coasters! The lines for these were the longest I've ever seen them. They had a line in the breezeway. Last time I got a magnet I just walked into the store and got one easily so wasn't expecting that. The weather was hotter than I had expected and the MNSSHP I attended was crazy busy, not sure I'd do it again. We went dressed as Gabby Gabby (me) Bo Peep (DD) and Woody (DH). We got tons of candy which we carried on to the plane.

All in all though, we had a great 8 day trip. DD3 was tall enough to ride some new rides including her new favorite..Hi Ho ride (SDMT). We rode 5 times throughout the trip. Her second new favorite was Kali River Rapids. She thought it was hilarious to get squirt by the elephant, and then squirt other people with water, haha. She met 26 characters in total, and although I was completely exhausted by the end, she was happy and it was worth it :)
