So my first reservation I canceled at just under 24 hours. I waited until I got my Disney tix and then canceled. Since your not waiting on anything it shouldn’t matter. I bought the insurance too. I cant say for sure it was processed to a voucher since I haven’t received it yet, but that’s my assumption. When I canceled and the points were refunded they were back in a few hours. I may call to see if they’ll refund the insurance since I cancelled in the window. What does it say when you click on cancel? If the cancellation fee is what you paid for insurance I think you’re good to go. If it says $0 under cancellation fee they’ll probably refund your points. It still is unknown for sure so I’d hate to steer you wrong. If they do refund the points it would probably be today so you would know to rebook and try again -but again don’t know for sure. I’m sorry!

What i would probably do too is go ahead and place a hold on the reservation you want. You would have to put some down on your credit card though by tomorrow but if your afraid you’ll lose the rooms you want might be worth it. I think you’d have to shell out around $500

I cancelled this morning and I still don't have my miles back so I am thinking I will get the voucher. I did buy the travel insurance and it showed as the fee for cancelling. Everything I read definitely sounded like a travel voucher is what I should expect so just waiting on that I guess.

I can't decide if I want to go ahead and book something or just wait. I am ok with booking and putting some down on the cc but then I think I'll have more than I want left over on a Delta travel voucher that may not be terribly usable.

Has anyone received the Amex Offer for $75 spend on Amazon, 1500 MRs back?

So far mom's plat had it, none of my 10 do. Off to check DH's and DD's now...

ETA-added it to DH's biz green and DD's plat so it appears that they are on both biz and personal cards. Whoo hoo.

Finally complete the BOA DD requirements so now I can put my check back to the way it belongs. Hopefully it takes for the next pay because only transferring $2000 a day and waiting 5 days for the funds to be deposited is ridiculous.

Where are you running into the $200/day limit? I’ve been successful pulling over $6K from my Amex savings account twice about a week apart.

I have an additional 2 MR points for purchases on Amazon. Would be great if this one showed up.

WHY am I even surprised???
Usually the call involves getting hung up on too!!

Yeah I think you should be fine and get the voucher. I was under 24 hours and canceled on Tuesday and still no miles. There is chatter the voucher could potentially be 1/2 the value but I’d be surprised if that happens. So many what ifs I just want to know!!
What does availability look like on the Disney site for your dates? Such s hard call. I actually put a deposit down for April since I was going to pay that portion OOP anyways but if you’re not I see the hesitation. Will you be just as a happy at a different resort if it came down to it??

I just a did completely frivolous and not-great-value redemption that I'm quite pleased with myself about, lol. For our 2020 Japan trip, our award tix on JAL for the return from Japan have us flying into LAX. So I needed a flight from LAX to BOI to get us home. There are only a handful of nonstops between LAX and BOI, and most are in the evening (our flight arrives from Tokyo at 11:35 a.m.). Delta has an afternoon nonstop, and each member of my family just happened to have 20k+ SkyPesos in our accounts, largely as a result of the miles we earned from our Air France business class flights back from Africa. We are rare Delta flyers and aren't likely to accumulate a lot more Delta miles that we can do something significant with, so I redeemed 19,500 Delta miles for each of us to fly First Class from LAX to BOI. First Class was 4k more miles per person than coach, but will get us free bags, which will come in handy since I plan to cancel my Delta Amex as soon as the AF fee hits, and will just be more comfortable and let us continue the good vibes we will hopefully have from our First/Business JAL flights for the final leg home. Like I said, probably a horrible redemption value, but I'm quite pleased to have found a good use for the *orphan* Delta miles in each of our accounts :)

I know it's different card but would this be the same for the IHG card? AF posted to my account. But thinking of closing this card. Free night posted on account as well as is booked for future use along with the rest of my IHG points. It's only $49 but rather skip this fee if possible.

I haven't had recent experience since I cancelled mine last year but at the time, the night posted right away and I cancelled before the AF hit. I have a little bit of remorse about closing it but what's done is done.

If it works well for you then it's a GREAT redemption, regardless of the cents/mile calculation. I firmly believe in keeping your good spirits up AFTER a trip, especially a long trip, and first will assist in that (I love the chocolate caramel shortbreads that are sometimes in the Delta F snack basket-hopefully you'll be able to try them).

The same guy was at Staples again so I grabbed five cards and had five credit cards all in my name ready to do separate transactions, but the line was getting long and a manger called me over. He said I could get one. I even asked to do them in separate transactions. That was a no go. Anyway, there was a nice lady at the staples a bit further away from me and she let me get $2,000 worth. She said “a lot of people have been coming in and getting these giftcards and using them at Walmart to pay their credit card so they get free airline miles, or something like that.” My response, “ oh, that’s weird”

That's closer than my husband got the other night trying to describe how I paid for our WDW trip to my MIL. He was like "yeah she uses her Target debit card and gets 5% off on gift cards so she saves a bunch of money that way."

Close...👌

I mean she maybe 100% right. The people in my area could be doing Walmart bill pay and paying their credit card with a bunch of $200 cards. I think doing that often will get you shutdown though by the bank.

I have it on my Gold.

I'd be kind of surprised if it was half the value too especially since the cancellation screen showed the 'refund' as the full amount. But yes, lots of what ifs! I haven't even checked Disney's site. This trip came up very suddenly and I've been so busy since it did, that I've not really done much. We will be happy *almost* anywhere lol. The way I am looking at it though, if the voucher isn't something we use in Dec, we will use it next year sometime. I think I'm gonna wait for the voucher. Once I know what value we are looking at, I may decide to put down a deposit. Let me know if you hear what people are getting. There should be some DP's rolling in soon from the people who booked and cancelled when the promo first started.

Yes I agree since it said the full value on my cancellation too. I will keep you posted for sure when mine comes or if I hear anything!!
