FINAL PAPER IS DONE! Now I can goof off with impunity.

For the folks planning a first trip to DL, can I just say how excited I am for you! For the first time in several years I have let me AP expire and I am so sad and having withdrawals right now! Thankful to be going in October with my younger son (almost 13) who appreciates it, unlike his older brother (15).

I just moved flights from 9/2 and 9/4 to 9/23 and 9/20 respectively. I am fairly certain the hurricane window was only supposed to be 14 days...

What dates are the loophole for now?
I’m not sure - this may have been due to the hurricane and not related to Max. @amalone1013 - can you share any insight? I haven’t been tracking it since it won’t matter to me again until it affects our Jan flights.

I had heard during one of the previous storms, maybe on the Dis podcast I forget, that they have a bunker that these employees go down to and that they can stay in for like 24 hours. Apparently its the equivalent to a bomb shelter and has food & water in it. I think there is another group of employees whose job it is to go make sure they are out of the bunker after to storm in case there is debris or something making it where they can't get out.

There are apparently cats that live on CC and they also take them into the bunker.

That sounds great to make the best of a bad situation. You can store and use the food from home and save money that way. I’m a little jealous, never stayed at AKL or a studio. Stay safe!
We ate lean cuisines and some frozen Chinese for lunch lol. It’s really nice having the kitchenette. Normally we probably wouldn’t use it though. I could see how it would save money as a family if you wanted to make stuff in the room. We stayed here two years ago in a standard room and thought it was just okay. It’s much different with cats haha. It’s actually really fun to come back to the room and see them waiting for us

Sounds frightening. Especially since this isn't a normal hurricane.

I just booked our October flights to Disney. I actually hadn't made any kind of plan to get on the grAAvy train but here I am. After finishing my Barclay Arrival this spring and then CIP2 I found myself without a MSR. I was dealing with a little FOMO, applied for the Barclay Aviator, got the we need more information, sent in info and found myself on the train. I recently finished up a Citi AA business card and there I was with 140,000 points. We had a 13 day trip to Orlando planned starting Oct 11th. I had found $59 flights home on Frontier which I was able to cover with my Arrival card ( I've never flown Frontier). The trouble I was running in to was pretty awful flight prices going into Orlando over Columbus Day weekend. There has been some movement in price recently but I'm pretty frugal and I just don't like paying much for flights. Today I found some flights from a closer airport, and I can fly 6 of our group down pretty reasonably with those AA points. It will shorten our stay by one day but we are only planning 8 park days.

We had a really fun time at Epcot tonight. Dh’s comment while we were there: “I haven’t stopped smiling since we got here” lol. He’s still upset about spending the money and I don’t blame him. We ate a ton of stuff at food and wine. The best two for me were the braised beef at France and the cheese soup at Canada.

I do think we may be stuck at the hotel Tuesday and maybe Wednesday. Tomorrow morning we’re going to mk and seeing how long we can stay. We talked about doing mnsshp but decided against it

Haha - if he’s “upset” about spending the money - deciding against MNSSHP was probably the right call 😉 🤣

Try to think of it as a spontaneous vacation, not an evacuation. Whatever happens, it's much better than sitting in your house watching it rain. Enjoy.

Pretty nice view from my hotel bed for the night LOL! Looking forward to a fun day tomorrow.

I know this coaster! Kingda Ka at Six Flags is basically an updated version of it. Don't Google what happens if the cars don't make it over the top 😳
