It was a no go on the retention offer. I could offset the AF with 55k MRs or change to the Green for a $95 AF. No thanks.

She did say I had some time to decide since the AF won't be posting until Oct :) I'll call back in a couple of weeks.

DH called, they said there was no offer, but on advice here he called again a couple of weeks later and got 50K IIRC. So don't give up hope just yet. :)

I'm a recovering overpacker (but the shoes!) but I'd love to go carryon only for our 7 day trip to Rome. Two weeks in India might be pushing it. Hey, I could also get a new backpack/personal item for India though

You can do it. We travel with carryons only, no matter how long the trip. The longest was 30 days, and yeah, we did do some hand laundry every now and then and a few loads one day. One week should be easy. I'm packed for an 8 night trip next week in just an international carryon. If you add one of those serious travel backpacks as your personal item, that makes it even easier (I don't do that but I've seen how much DD's backpack can hold and it's a lot). :)

I've never redeemed a free night cert with Marriott. Is there anything special I need to do on my end? I used my FN and points to book a room downtown for 2 nights for my DD's wedding night tomorrow. (My family grows tomorrow!) I did call and add her, but I also just checked in via app. Credit card is already on file. I think we're good?

Not that anybody cares but it is in my name...

South Fayette 55-6 tonight. Good to get back in the flow in our first conference game. I’m a happy camper tonight. :D
I care! I mean I care about the BAND ;) (Ours did better, IMO).

The football team won 48-20. I am glad we won because my son's school was playing my step-son's school so there was a bit of rivalry there!

Thinking of you @Haley R and @*WDW*Groupie* - hope you are safe it must be so hard deciding what to do

@disneymagicgirl im bummed for you hope you can rebook your trio soon and @amalone hope you figure it all out!!

OK tell me if I’m crazy. What if I was considering a way to get WDW tix.

1. Book at cheap Delta vacation - thinking ATL-MCO and 2 nights in cheapest hotel
Cost is $681

2. Add on WDW flex park hopper tix to package (must have 4 people on reservation to get 4 tix) can get up to 10 days cost $3092, package total is $3924 with insurance

3. Pay the travel insurance $232

5. Cancel said package for a travel voucher to use in one year

4. WDW tix are non refundable so you’d have to keep those right??

5. Pay with miles so for 4 flex Disney park tickets 10 day hoppers it would cost $3092 plus eat the $232 fee so and cost me 166KMRs. So I’d essentially be getting a value of 4 10 day hopper tickets for $1660? I could then upgrade to APs? Not sure the cost on that?
Plus I’d have a $681 delta and paid 196K MRs for the total equivalant of $1960

Am I missing something??

Congrats on your growing family!!

I think I would feel more comfortable with an interior lobby just in case so we aren't completely confined to our room. That way we could at least walk in the lobby to stretch our legs some and get away from the cats lol. They most likely will be howling like crazy. The bad part about staying longer would be making sure the cats have enough litter and food.
Thinking about you!!! And everyone in Florida. I have family in parkland and Coral Springs.

Your home owners insurance might cover the spoiled food. Personally, for right now, I’d chalk that up to First Year FL Homeowner mistake. (I would have done the same thing had I been in your shoes, don’t beat yourself up too much over it.)

Yeah, even if your homeowners would cover it and you meet the deductible, you might not want to put in a claim for a relatively small amount, particularly being a new policyholder. It stinks, but it may save you more in the long run. Cost of food vs insurance premium increases.

Here on CT a few years ago we had one storm where I lost everything, and shortly after I’d replaced everything, we had another. 😕 basically just one of the costs of home ownership. And then recently we had a storm where the electric company was offering several hundred dollars to customers who were without power for seven days or more. Wouldn’t you know I got power back after 6.5 days. Was kind of weird to be disappointed to get my power back. At that point, another half a day was would have been merely an inconvenience, and all my food was already gone anyhow.

Bonvoy Brilliant DP. My 1 year anniversary was 8/25. 8/27 I purchased a $300 Marriott gift card. Got the amex offers email immediately. Today I see the $300 credit. Amex offer credit hasn't posted yet.

Using my two $300 gift cards for Courtyard Seattle Pioneer Square two nights pre-DCL Alaska next August. I'm thinking I'll use my certificate toward my Marriott stay post-Thanksgiving (DD's 16th birthday trip) but that's only a 35,000 point hotel. Trying to optimize using points/gift cards/certificates is a bit of a headache. Trying to hoard my points for DD's graduation trip to London/Paris in 2021.

Thinking about everyone in Dorian's way.

Great advice to wait a while and try again-50k MRs is worth it!

LOL, oh that’s just for half the trip where we can only have carry ons... for the other I’ll still have my checked! I did CYO once and it was not something I want to repeat😱

Ohhhh, that sounds like a lovely gift to save for. Thinking of a similar trip for my son when he graduates. Might be just the idea I need to start accumulate MRs!

@DisneyMandC @calypso726 or anyone else- For the Marriott Vacation Club packages, do you the nights on the package count towards your Marriott status? I attempted to do one if the nights will count. It looks like you can only do one a year.

Can anyone help an east coaster get to Hawaii using SW CP and or Chase UR'S? The options are endless. Thinking of using URs to fly Hawaiin Airlines direct at 22,000 pts. We will use DVC points to stay at Aulani. Returning home we are thinking of using SW points and the CP to spend 2 nights/ 1 full day in northern California to ease the jet lag. I hate not using SW points and CP to get there though but no direct flights with SW. We are open to an overnight on the way there as well. How do you guys do it? We can take 10 days for this trip.
