CSR rooms are nicer than AKL. AKL is in desperate need of a refurb. CSR has rainforest shower heads with glass doors and a changing area. AKL has showerheads that spray all over the bathroom and cheap curtains. CSR has wood floors, granite and a Keurig. AKL does have balcony’s which is great if you have a Savanah view.
Money not being an object Yacht club all the way.
I saw them working on some akl rooms when we at at Boma in July. Wonder how that refurb is coming along. Aside from location, I always loved that resort. Maybe I will remove it from consideration until the refurb is complete. I last stayed there in a brand new room after the last refurb...so it has been awhile.

I took a minivan once it was 37.00 plus tip. I'd go with a regular lyft.

I always do minnie vans when it is just me and DD3. I have an irrational fear of ubering alone. Well really, I fear ubering at all, but at least if I have another adult with me I stand a chance of surviving the serial killer uber driver.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I'd totally do the LM room. That price is so great andi actually really enjoy AOA. I'd probably use the savings to do more stuff in the parks. Guess my obsession with the LM might make me a little biased though. I've never stayed in those rooms, but I've been inside and loved the theming. I know they are the farthest away at AOA, but the extra walking generally doesn't bother me much. I'd walk it to pay half the price of the mod options. 😂 Heck, that's almost half the price of the value option too!

I was thinking also that all 4 nights at AofA is the same cost as 1 night at YC approximately. Yikes! When you put it that way....I'm still an epcot resort girl. :rotfl:I really need to stop booking deluxe for these "last minute cheap trips" I go on though. Of course I got an amazing rate at BW in July so that shouldn't count against me.

I appreciate you mentioning you like AofA. I am going to go look at the thread for it and see whats up. I also want to see how the pool and bus situation is at CSR since the added amount of people for the tower came about.

I feel the same way. I had some pretty questionable Lyft rides around WDW prior to Minnie Vans rolling out. The most memorable was one night when my family thought we were all going to die riding from BC back to GF because our driver had no idea where he was going. This was before the MK resort ramp was separated from the park and he was making some questionable turns  It was a HUGE relief once it was released. I miss the old pricing structure, but the safety and comfort are worth it to me. I really only use it to transfer resorts for split stays, home from DS, and home from AK.

You are not in the minority. I'd choose this option as well. I cannot believe $76 a night. I'm ready to book a trip!

I'll lyft/uber on Disney even if *just* me lol. Why I feel so comfy there is probably silly but I do lol. We've done it a lot, even just me and 1 kid. But Minnie Vans were only $11 more for the same trip, as I posted, so not budget bursting at all to just do that.

Anyone have an AA citi personal card mailer that you aren't using? Can you PM if you have one I can buy? I've been going back and forth on what card to get next. After chatting with my wonderful dh, thank God for that man who just listens as I chat his ears off, I think a personal AA for him is the way to go!

Yes you have until midnight of the day you check out to use up all entitlements.

Thank you all!

So I think I’m going to have to move me and DH’s January Orlando trip, which is fine. He’s probably going to a horse show in Venice, FL in January now and it’ll be too hard for him to take off for both back to back. Of course, I’ve already booked a Marriott stay with our free night cert and the free night is supposed to expire on 1/31. I can’t wait to see how many different ways Marriott screws this up if I ask them to extend the expiration and move it back by a month...

Maybe Fort Wilderness will let him board the horse(s), then you can combine trips :D

I have $1411 in annual fees. I need @calypso726 to come by and give her numbers so I'll feel better. Seriously, most of the fee cards give free nights so I just consider them discount cards.

If you take out the ones I’m cancelling I’m still over $2600 in AFs.

Gulp. Oh my. I just looked at we quite a bit over that this year. There are quite a few cards that will be canceled in the next few months though... And the 2 extra Platinum cards both came with 100K MRs each, so that helps, as does the $1K in AA gift cards.

The idea is a pop up on a card will lock you out of that card and the same family of cards (at least temporarily). For example, if you apply for a Hilton Biz and get the pop up, you’re locked out of the Hilton family of cards, i.e., you’ll get the pop up if you try to apply for the Surpass, Aspire, or Hilton Honors card. At least, until one of whatever criteria Amex uses to weigh your “history” (e.g., spend, age of cards, opening/closing cards) changes.

If you get a pop up, the theory is to immediately apply for a card in another family of cards, like a Marriott Bonvoy, Delta, or Amex-branded card, and the pop up shouldn’t carry over to the different family. If you wait to apply, say until the next day, Amex will probably re-run the pop up algorithm and the pop up might reappear, even on a card from a different family, if nothing material has changed in your “history.”

When people do this (pop up/new card applied for immediately and no pop up) are the bonuses posting without problem? Any delay? (Yes, I have trust issues with Amex).

Last minute trip advice....myself and DD3

AofA LM room (assumed) thru a PLE deal for $76/night...total $343.40. Never stayed here.

OR

Any other value around $120/night AP rate, Moderate $160-190 AP rate, AKL $256, YC $296/night.

My head always says save money (points) and my heart always says walk to the parks. :ssst: I am so awful at making these decisions.

Since it is just you two and a value will work do the LM rooms. I have never stayed there but kids apparently love Art of Animation. I know for our October trip I had only one night booked on cash but changed it to two when the girls saw me looking at the Art of Animation rooms. I love BLT and staying on points but they were so excited at the thought of a Lion King themed room! She is only 3 once. You have a lifetime of staying at Yacht Club. (And this is besides the so much cheaper factor).

For what it is worth I really like CBR. I hesitated to try it because of all the bad press but I have tried all the moderates and the theme of CBR appeals to me much more than the others. Last stayed there October 2018. I think it is also a lot more conveniently located than the other moderates.

I guess I should post my list...

Uhhhh
Ummm
Well...
On yeah!
SW Plus (so that I retain the best gift card redemption rate)
CSR (which I did via PC and will double dip the TC so that’s like a -$150 AF 😝 )

And uhhh that’s it other than the occasional first year AF on a new card 😇

Nothing but love for you @calypso726! Your list of AFs is amazing.

Are the Cippy cup and AA train annual fees waived first year, or did you have to pay them with your first or second statements?

I was just thinking that if you (not you individually but you collectively) keep on getting cards and all the good ones with nice sign up bonuses usually have annual fees, then you and others are also almost continuously paying annual fees even though they are not keeper cards. Just the cost of doing business. Keeping a card that continues to give back the value of the annual fee and then some so long as you can use the value seems like a win, especially with hotel cards. Getting rid of cards that don't easily generate significant value after getting the SUB makes sense.

@SouthFayetteFan how did your football game go? I left ours at halftime (like any good band parent) and at the time we were up 35-0. I felt bad for the other school (especially because our football team isn't particularly good).

Lots of new faces on the field tonight after graduating 18 seniors from last years WPIAL Championship team. The good news is, this was “week 0” - essentially a “preseason” non-conference game (and we lost to this same team last year week 0 too 🤣). Hopefully they can learn from tonight and improve for next week.

You may not realize this since you haven’t been around the thread for a long time but I was in the marching band in HS and a music major in college. BUT these days I’m in it on Fridays for the football action haha.

Well that's a bummer for your team but it seems they are a younger team so there is time to rebuild!

And a music major! That's something! What was your primary instrument? I did marching band all three years of high school (9th graders were in junior high where I went) and 5 seasons of marching band at ASU. Many, many years ago. :)

One of my DDs was a music major in college too!! Are you still playing? All 3 of my kids are involved with music. My other DD plays sax and clarinet in local theatre groups and my DS sings with his colleges chorus.
