Not churning, but International travel related (and I am merely curious; obviously it's not important)

Was anyone here overseas when this Emergency Alert came out last fall? I thought it was funny that it came out in the language of the country I was in... instead of something I could actually read. Oh, and this was in the middle of the night in Japan!

November is our next trip.
My husband and I have gone over Veteran's Day weekend for the last several years (originally to do the Avengers 5K and since then to buy our Christmas ornament and see the Christmas decorations) and this is the first time in 5 years we aren't going. I am sad.

Looks like an earthquake warning. I can only read the kanji characters. Think Japan has a system to push it out to cell phones?

So did you feel an earthquake after the message?

Gosh, that didn't even occur to me. No, we didn't feel an earthquake. I have been assuming that was the test of the emergency alert system in the states! Pretty sure the date/time matches up but I could be wrong!

Thanks funny that you can "only" read the kanji characters. I can pick out the three syllables of my name in hiragana... sometimes :)

I know all of the hiragana and katakana but no kanji

We just got back from an excellent food tour of the Mile High Neighborhood in Montreal. So many yummy eats. Highly recommend! Excellent end to our vacation. We fly out early tomorrow morning 😢

Montréal is now totally on my visit soon list. I’ve been once before when we did a road trip up the St. Lawrence Seaway but it’s been over 10 years.

I'm trying to find DPs of people who maxed out the Amex addAU 5000MR offer and what happened with their MRs if they didn't provide a SSN by Day 60. I feel like someone here has done it but I can't find it on the search here either.

I did this for DD 8 (so obviously couldn’t put her SSN and DOB). I received the bonus points and then just a few days ago received a letter saying they had to cancel the card but I could request again at anytime. So far points are still there.

I love the embroidered laundry bag and shoe bag from the hyatt vendome I took. I think the laundry bag has the hotel on it but the shoe bag doesn't. So fun.

We totally took everything that housekeeping replenished including about 3 loofahs they sent us home with because our DD loved them.

LOL. It’s because I can read Chinese. It was helpful in Japan for recognizing street and station names. Minimally helpful for menus. Leads to some funny guessing.
