I felt that it did and am glad there’s a series that continues their story. I listened while driving around for work so I wasn’t compelled to do anything but listen. That may be a factor. Then again, I’m one of those people who enjoys the character development unfolding and the layers and connections from one book to the next. I think what I most appreciated was the feeling of being there and knowing these people. That takes time and I like how the author took the time to invoke that feeling. But we all have different preferences. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series coming out.
I didn't realize there are still more books coming out. My own misconceptions probably hindered it. I didn't realize it was a planned out series. So when I say I thought it would stand on it's own I mean I thought most things would be explained in the first book. I guess I just wanted more time travel haha. Plus the ads for the show didn't help because they made it sound like the story takes place in 2 different times and that was only minimally true so far. I might try the second one and see if I can get through it faster. Maybe I'll try the audio book while I train for Wine & Dine.
