Our full day will be 8/17. We arrive SJC on the 16th, leave early on the 18th. The 17th will be an In-n-Out visit, I think Walt Disney Family Museum and then DH found a bar or something he wants to visit, supposed to be kid friendly. Something about a pool turned into a tiki bar. I didn't write it down yet.

ETA: There are 6 of us, kids are 13-23.

Lain's got you covered but I wanted to say that we love the Disney Family Museum and on a clear day you get the most amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge from there. There are In-n-Out options right off the highway between SCJ and San Francisco if that interests you (I can be more specific if you want). Oh, and I don't live in the city and I hate driving there. If I drive in I try to park my car ASAP and walk most places. DD and her friends will use Uber there (even the ones who actually live in the city) because it's so hard to park/drive there. I hope you have a fantastic visit. Sept is usually nice there!

ETA- If you have an Amex Gold card, you can get your $10 discount at the one in Union Square (not local cuisine, though, but a fabulous view since it's at the top of the Macy's store there and has a nice outdoor patio).

CIPpy cup experts, I need some advice please.
I'm ready to apply for CIP#2 next week. Only P1 mode so I was wondering what I need to apply for it. How do I go about self referring?
Thank you in advance!

Fort Point that’s right at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge

I think this is where I used to go in college when the weather was nice. It was the end of the 28(?) that went from in front of campus on 19th. Good place to wander, people watch or just sit and read and escape the gloom of campus/annoyance of the dorms my 1st two years. Wasn't bad but being in our own little fog belt sucked because 2 miles away would be blue sky and sun.

You can create a link from the app and send it to yourself in some way (email, texts, etc) and then click on it from there to apply. I've never self-referred on any card and with the latest Amex clawbacks for self-referrals, I'd be a little nervous to do so. In the end, all you can do is try and hope Chase doesn't follow Amex's lead.

Good luck!

Okay stupid question but just want to check- I am assuming the staples offer everyone is just buying a $40 GC? VGC or a store brand?

When I get around to getting to staples I'll buy 50 because I think mine only has reloadable visa/mc and I'd rather have disney, amazon or starbucks and those are in 25 or 50. Plus 10 back on 50 is still really good imo and the store cards won't have a fee. Could be good to save til they do a no fee thing again but I think that's generally on $200.

It's so quiet here today that I'm all caught up. Is Prime Day a bust? Asking since I never and DH rarely finds anything we want on this day.
I finished my purchases and nothing too exciting. I wanted a knife set I saw earlier that I added to my cart and came back about 1/2 hr later and it was sold out. I did manage to buy a cabin air filter and engine air filter for DWs car and I purchased myself some skivvies. Amex MR point promo didn't work for me :(

When I was in 3rd or 4th grade we got such a bad blizzard/ice storm the city actually postponed Halloween. They had it like a week later. Then they encouraged people to take their kids to the newer neighborhoods like ours because the power lines were underground, and older parts of town were still having issues with power/downed lines and trees.

We had 500 trick or treaters before we had to give up and shut the lights off since we were out fo candy.

ETA: I apologize, I misremembered as a 7 year old. Halloween was not postponed, the storm was a week before but they city was completely shut down so they recommended people take their kids to the new neighborhoods.

Wow I don’t think our ice storm was even close to looking like that.

Besides our terrible flight from O’Hare closing and diverting to Milwaukee for a couple of hours for gas and to wait it out, Chicago is fabulous! We tried to go to the Shedd Aquarium after training but $40 for less than an hour no thanks. So we took the water taxi over to Navy Pier and did the Architecture river boat tour and it was fabulous! Worth every $. What a terrific view of the city. We took an Uber back to the Hilton and I finally got the Plat credit to work. (Turns out I forgot my Plat had been replaced due to possible fraud and I never updated my Uber acct. Oops!) Tomorrow afternoon/evening, I am hunting down the Flamingo sculpture at federal plaza and searching for pizza. And Wed we’ll head to Millennium Plaza to see the Bean and look for a good steakhouse. Our Uber driver recommended Cindy’s???? (Just in general and for pizza or steak.) Any thoughts on it? Lovely city so far!View attachment 417791
Love that architecture tour! My favorite pizza is Giordano’s.
I don’t recall owning a steakhouse :scratchin (Seriously I have never heard of any place named Cindy’s). For steak: RPM Steak, Gibson’s, Gene & Georgetti’s, Eddie V’s, Ditka’s. Disclaimer, I’m not a big steak eater but all I listed are highly regarded in Chicago

ETA: must be referring to this
http://www.cindysrooftop.com/I’ve never been, or heard of it (or it changed names because the views look familiar). But it says it’s hip and stylish and I’m neither.

So my mom and I talked on the phone for an hour and 45 minutes tonight. It was mainly just to catch up but she mentioned she started looking at flights so her and my dad can come visit us in August! She was like “I saw a cheap Monday to Monday flight but you don’t need us to stay for a week”. I had to tell her multiple times it was okay for them to stay for a week lol. I’d actually prefer it since we probably won’t see them again until Christmas.

I mentioned food and wine and she was like “oh that sounds fun when does that start?”. This is coming from a lady that has zero interest in Disney but I’m slowly making some leeway with her. She has always thought Disney was just for rides and that’s because when they took my brother and I as kids we literally only did MK for one day (not even staying on site). I’ve told her many times that Epcot would be something she would love. I’m thinking food and wine won’t work for when they wanna come but I’m optimistic I’ll get her there for flower and garden lol
