I also ordered @calypso726 ’s straws on her recommendation. They look compact enough that I can take them around with me, and maybe I’ll even be able to convince my wife to try out the other one. And $4.99 shipped is not bad! I have Prime, so shipping was free.

My shipping was free also - they just kept moving my shipping option! You will get yours in two days. Mine will probably take a trip to San Francisco and back to keep yours company, since I don't have Prime. I have time so no biggie.

Random Plastiq question:

I am not advocating for abusing their "support" program BUT... has anybody signed up their kids? Has anybody done anything else crazy to bump up their Plastiq FFDs?

I was thinking of that 2 player strategy we've discussed (for those that haven't seen that):
  • P1 uses a DISchurner link gets $500 FFDs after spending $500)
  • P2 signs up using P1s link and they get $500 FFDs (after spending $500)
  • P1 gets $1,000 FFDs from the support click
It's just so lucrative that you can get $2,000 in FFDs for only spending $1,000 while paying the fee... Like I said, I don't want to abuse this but I'm looking for other potential ways to bump that up.

EDIT: I'm still going to post this BUT I did just review their Terms of Service and I see you have to be 18 to signup and that you authorize them to verify your identity so perhaps I'm just grasping at straws here... I guess the only legit way to do this is to ask your parents and relatives and such if you can sign them up, haha!

I opted for no rush shipping. Really not in a rush!

Nothing wrong with your parents helping you out! Ask @calypso726 - remember SPG points and all the relatives that kept moving in and out? Plus, daughter was very busy on the same premise as @calypso726 .

I definitely want to do it one day, just $3800 is basically what it would cost for four nights and tickets at the Grand Californian in September. So is it really worth that? My MRs right now are going towards wedding expenses. I need about 6k more. And then next year my ABD. Need about $4000 worth.
I hear you, that same money can be used for something else. One day!!

So the Amex airline fee credit is every calendar year, right? I get $200 on the personal plat until 12/31/19 and then it resets 1/1/20 and I get another $200?

My coworker is just all about being dramatic about it. Although I can’t imagine doing it at home. I just pull a Disney coffee cup out of the cabinet, pour, drink.

I’ve never gotten coffee stains on my teeth:confused3
Some people are more prone to teeth staining. Unfortunately it’s genetic and
I think I got that gene. Drinking coffee by straw is one of the top recs for preventing staining.

Have fun! We have yet to make it there this summer. The crowds have been ridiculous. If you are going to ride Reese Cornfusion do it mid to later in the day. At the beginning of the day, the line/wait is ridiculous! If you get there at opening, I would first thing go grab a spot at the wave pool or the waterworks area. It becomes quite difficult later in the day. We have never had our stuff disturbed. We just put our towels out and leave everything else we don’t need. Love, love, love Hersheypark Happy :)
Is hersheypark good with young kids (2 and 5) or is better for older kids?

We did a Walmart grocery pick up today. I ordered a whistle for our hurricane kit and they substituted it for tweezers....what?

Also, did anyone see my previous question about dh’s CSR?
Did the AF post on 7/31 last year? You will have 30ish days to close the card from then, or 40ish to PC. So you will need to use the $300 between statement close date in Aug and 8/30, if the AF is posting 7/31

The AF posted on 8/1 so does that change things? I’m not sure when our statement close date is. I think it’ll be August 21 because this current one closes July 21. So would we have between August 21 and August 30 to use the credit?

Also, should we get the freedom or the freedom unlimited?
As for this, obviously the 5% categories aren't a for sure thing, but the Freedom has ended up being better for me because of them. Part of that is also because we keep slowly opening a new card anyways (always be MSRing lol) so I all non category spend was going to those.

Let's say, you can average hitting $4k of the total $6k in 5x categories... you would need something like $13,333 on the CFU to match the number of URs. Just as an example. Basically for every $1k you could spend in the 5x categories, you would need to put $3333 on a CFU for the same number of points.

That will give you a few more days. That should be your closing date, Aug 21. The credit will reset Aug 22 then, so you'll have from then until about 9/1 or so to use it. Technically 30 days from Aug 1 is Aug 31... I missed my ILs cards by a few days so they were almost 35 days past the AF posting and was able to close them and have it refunded. If you are going to PC, I think 40 days is the typical number, after that is a partial refund. So if you don't get it done in time you may lose $37.50. I did that with mine because I needed the GE credit but was waiting on my new passport to come.

I did sign our DD up to pay for her rent, but she is over 18. On a different note, I did finally get the full $20K in FFD from the earlier promotion. The extra 10K just showed up in my account after they told me I wouldn't get it.

Also, should we get the freedom or the freedom unlimited?

I'm going to recommend a Freedom as well. We have both Freedom and Freedom Unlimited, and we hardly ever touch the CFU. Since we stay in a state of new cards with new MSR's to meet, I only use a different card if the category for that spend is 3% or more. So, we do use our Freedoms for category bonuses, gas on my Costco since that earns 4% (except this Q), travel on the CIP, and phone, internet, streaming on CIC, etc. Since the CFU only earns 1.5%, it never gets used.

I think I might like BW better than yacht and beach. Who would’ve thought!?
My room is immaculate. Hands down the cleanest room I’ve stayed in. I thoughtstained carpet had become the norm at wdw, but this BW room is very well kept...not a stain in sight. I wish I had more resort time this trip. Should have skipped poly in may and stayed here.5E7EB140-49B9-4F1D-99A8-8833E19F91EB.jpegA672110C-F159-4AD8-867D-15C424CA06E1.jpeg

That is indeed how it works, but note they recently killed GCs crediting back for this (although I'm sure you saw this).
Thank you, and thank you for the reminder about gift cards!

I have mine currently set to JetBlue and will use the remainder of my $200 on baggage fees between October and December trips.

I want to book March/April flights through the UR portal on JetBlue and am undecided if I should chose the upgraded fare which will include a checked bag or not. I am on the fence if I will keep the personal Plat past a year so getting the most out of it before cancelling or downgrading would make sense. Decisions.

I have those teeth. I drink iced tea all day every day. I use a straw and still have staining issues but with the straw the bad stains stay on the back of the teeth.
