We typically fly out on the early morning flight, which is like 5:40 here, and honestly, it's brutal. We live almost an hour from the airport and between the drive and having to get there and park and be in almost 2 hours before, I do not sleep the night before. I've done this year after year (and for more trips than wdw), I'm kind of getting over it. I suggested to dh that we take the last flight out the night before our trip, which doesn't land until 1:30am

, but not sure that is gonna work either. I'd just rather fly, land and then sleep than fly, land and then try to keep myself awake for hours and trying to do fun stuff while I'm dying inside from lack of sleep.
Me too... plus if I fly in the morning I always feel like I'm wasting vacation time since I have the day off work anyways. It's also why most of the time we push to get to Disney that night (except the last crazy land at 1:30am flight where we did the airport hyatt) because I'd rather sleep a hair longer in the morning and be there already (even tho I'm cheating myself on the front end of the night, staying up to get there... it all evens out lol)
I hate trying to push through a park day after an early flight. We usually have 3 non-stop s day from MSY to MCO - super early like 6 am, mid-day or late like 9 to 11ish. With those choices I will usually opt for the late flight if it's late enough for me to make with working until 5 pm that day. I'm a night owl anyway, so I can function pretty well on just a few hours sleep. However, I sleep like crap the night before an early flight always feeling nervous about it.
We've never done this but thinking we will for this next trip. We are all night owls. Why not push through a few extra night hours vs. all of us getting us super early (me and dd19 not sleeping at all)??? Just makes more sense. If it doesn't work and is a royal failure, we won't do again.
We usually take the first or second flight of the morning on SW (there are 80 bazillion nonstops from BWI to MCO). My
night owl kids are the ones insisting on the 6:30a flights

That means we have to get up at 3a to drive the 65-75 minutes to the airport

Last trip I suggested that we stay overnight at a park-sleep-fly hotel so that we wouldn't have to get up quite as early. It was, let's just say, not the nicest place we have ever stayed. We had a complete flight crew on our little shuttle bus to the airport in the morning

so it must be decent enough. The weather was horrible in the evening when we drove down, monsoon-like, and was still pretty awful until right before our flight took off.
We are dvc and usually in the borrowing position, so we don't want to use points to stay after a very late flight. One trip we did stay at the Hyatt in MCO because younger dd's friend was joining us and her flight didn't come in until the morning. We couldn't get our flights from home and younger dd's flights from where she was finishing a summer program to sync up with Friend's flights, so we just came in the afternoon/evening before.
This next trip in March some people will be flying from PHL, dh and I may be flying from BWI, and younger dd will be flying from IND. It will be interesting to book everything...once SW finally opens up the schedule
I used to.. growing up we always got 1% and my parents got skim for themselves. Eventually we switched to skim. Then my roommate and I in college would buy 1% usually... that was a compromise as I was used to skim and she was 2% lol. And now we do all 2% because that's what ILs always buy. I cant tell much of a difference between skim, 1, 2% now and will drink them all/whatever is available.
ETA I also bounced around a lot between the different kinds.. like my great grandma would give me 2% then I'd go home and have 1%, or skim if we were out of 1%. Drink mostly skim, have 2% at school, 1% at grandparents all in same day. So it's pretty much the same to me.
I am the only person in the family not lactose intolerant nor daily allergic. I get a quart of 2% and a quart of half&half (for my coffee!) delivered from a local farm every week. It is THE BEST milk I have ever tasted

Now when I travel I get americanos to drink black because I can't stand the taste of commercial half&half!
Yes! Even with the paper straws, you may have to ask because they don't always just give them out. I had that happen at Sci-Fi. The CM apologized profusely saying he couldn't just hand me one and that I had to ask. He was so nice and I told him not to worry at all! (Writing this as I take a sip of Coke Zero from my nice plastic bendy straw)
I'm a weirdo who doesn't like straws at all
I have metal, glass and reusable polycarbonate straws. Metal are my fav for retaining the temp of the drink and you can boil to clean. Glass can be boiled but doesn't retain heat/coolness of drink. Poly ones cannot be boiled but are usually the cutest. I even bought Disney ones with mickey heads all over them years ago at wdw.
Good to know! Dd19 would like to venture into reusable straws.
Ugh I guess I didn't multi quote the comment about using a toothbrush holder--that is genius and I will suggest that to dd19! (editing to add: thanks
