Kroger will have 4x fuel points on gift cards next weekend, July 19-21. This time on the ad it actually has a pic of a $25 vgc.

Perfect, thanks! A couple of my Chase statements closed yesterday so I just cashed out another $50 towards paying off our Disney trip. Too bad I didn't pay more attention to this when CF was 5x at grocery stores last quarter, but I'm still doing this to meet MSR so it works out.

So I hopped on the grAAvy train in March and picked up the Citi biz and the Barclays Biz a few months ago. I actually got to use some AA miles the other day for flights.

Had originally booked Amtrak train from Montreal to Philly last year for our trip next month. Totally forgot it was a 12 hour journey lol.

Was able to find sAAver fares of 8.5k YUL (Montreal) to Philly for the 4 of us for 34k AA miles. Saved 11 hours of travel time since it’s a one hour flight!
I did pay taxes of $50 pp on the award flights because it’s Canada where everything is taxed!

So it seems your missing $500 (lost by fed ex) showed up and they ad packed the other missing cards in that envelope but marked them in the other envelope. Then thisnone is the resend to cover the missing fed ex $500 one that already showed up. Did I get that right?
Yep, you got it right. Now...what do I do about it LOL?

AA awards flights...looking at flights in Feb 2020. There are some for 7.5k that we could make work, but not optimal times. What are the chances they release more. I'm thinking they won't, but i really don't have a clue how their awards work.

Ugh anyone with Verizon Unlimited?'m actually going to

I have auto-pay enabled to save on the monthly charges, but I have been paying a majority of the bill on a cc to either meet MSR or get 3x points for almost a whole year now and only let about $1.50 get taken from my checking account. It had been working great!

This month, I get a disclaimer when I go to process the cc payment:

The line access discount is more than what I would get in points so it looks like that is no longer an option 😞
I went into Verizon a couple of weeks ago to talk to them about switching to unlimited. He was very shady about the whole checking account/debit card discount. No thanks. I think I might actually have my DS(the data hog) get his own plan instead of dealing with that. I hate giving them anymore money than I already do.

I’m generally of the mindset that you should grab sAAver fares when you see them. No guarantee they will add more or go down in points.

IME, getting AA Saver awards at optimal times is nigh on impossible. They will route you on 3 flights all over the country, but will usually charge more miles for a single direct flight. Depends on the route of course, but if you can get awards that you can make work for 7.5k miles then I say grab them.

Also.......and you will need to verify this..... I believe you can change an AA award free of charge if something better comes up - i think the origin and destination must be the same. I did this last year when traveling to LAS.....a more direct flight came available about 3 weeks before travel and I changed my booking at no cost.

Last Chicago questions since I fly out tomorrow but will the low 70-80s that are showing for the weather feel cool since it is on the lake? Trying to make sure I bring appropriate clothing without overpacking since I need business casual also for the seminar and I am trying to avoid checking my bag.
We're supposed to have pretty high humidity coming up from Barry. It's 77 this morning and it feels hot...I'm inland about 10 miles. We're going down to the city tonight . I might bring a long sleeve tshirt for our boat trip.
If it was me, I'd bring one of your cardigans for the a/c at the seminar. Dual purpose that if you feel cool outside at night.

I used to fly out of Montreal as a kid. Back then it was cheaper sometimes than flying from an airport closer to home. I live in NY a couple hours away from Montreal - love the city!
Any tips for me? So far we are doing a day trip to Quebec City but have three days in Montreal.

Thanks! I think I am set with 2 packed and one along with jeans to wear on the plane along with 2 pair of pants, 3 dresses, 2 pair of shorts, several tops.

That's good to know. I booked an 'economy web special' only 5000 pts from PIT to MCO in Feb. Has a longish layover in Charlotte but being winter I'm OK with that. It does say no changes, can cancel and get pts back but there may be a fee. This may be different since it was even less than the AA Saver rate. I have such a hard time using my AA points for flights that I jumped on it, fairly certain I won't need to change.

Anyone ever stay at the Marco Island (fl) Hilton beach resort? Thinking about it for a beach trip with dd in Jan/Feb sometime. Would fly SW to Ft Myers and rent a car.

I considered transferring all of P2’s MRs out of his plat account to Hilton, but I don’t think we’ll need that many more Hilton points for this winter and we’re not done with Amex MR cards yet (hopefully). We’re only possibly going to lose 15k MR in the clawback (hasn’t happened yet!) so I guess we’ll just sit tight and see what happens.

We typically fly out on the early morning flight, which is like 5:40 here, and honestly, it's brutal. We live almost an hour from the airport and between the drive and having to get there and park and be in almost 2 hours before, I do not sleep the night before. I've done this year after year (and for more trips than wdw), I'm kind of getting over it. I suggested to dh that we take the last flight out the night before our trip, which doesn't land until 1:30am :scared:, but not sure that is gonna work either. I'd just rather fly, land and then sleep than fly, land and then try to keep myself awake for hours and trying to do fun stuff while I'm dying inside from lack of sleep.
Me too... plus if I fly in the morning I always feel like I'm wasting vacation time since I have the day off work anyways. It's also why most of the time we push to get to Disney that night (except the last crazy land at 1:30am flight where we did the airport hyatt) because I'd rather sleep a hair longer in the morning and be there already (even tho I'm cheating myself on the front end of the night, staying up to get there... it all evens out lol)
I hate trying to push through a park day after an early flight. We usually have 3 non-stop s day from MSY to MCO - super early like 6 am, mid-day or late like 9 to 11ish. With those choices I will usually opt for the late flight if it's late enough for me to make with working until 5 pm that day. I'm a night owl anyway, so I can function pretty well on just a few hours sleep. However, I sleep like crap the night before an early flight always feeling nervous about it.
We've never done this but thinking we will for this next trip. We are all night owls. Why not push through a few extra night hours vs. all of us getting us super early (me and dd19 not sleeping at all)??? Just makes more sense. If it doesn't work and is a royal failure, we won't do again.
We usually take the first or second flight of the morning on SW (there are 80 bazillion nonstops from BWI to MCO). My night owl kids are the ones insisting on the 6:30a flights  That means we have to get up at 3a to drive the 65-75 minutes to the airport:eek: Last trip I suggested that we stay overnight at a park-sleep-fly hotel so that we wouldn't have to get up quite as early. It was, let's just say, not the nicest place we have ever stayed. We had a complete flight crew on our little shuttle bus to the airport in the morning :rotfl:so it must be decent enough. The weather was horrible in the evening when we drove down, monsoon-like, and was still pretty awful until right before our flight took off.

We are dvc and usually in the borrowing position, so we don't want to use points to stay after a very late flight. One trip we did stay at the Hyatt in MCO because younger dd's friend was joining us and her flight didn't come in until the morning. We couldn't get our flights from home and younger dd's flights from where she was finishing a summer program to sync up with Friend's flights, so we just came in the afternoon/evening before.

This next trip in March some people will be flying from PHL, dh and I may be flying from BWI, and younger dd will be flying from IND. It will be interesting to book everything...once SW finally opens up the schedule :badpc:

I used to.. growing up we always got 1% and my parents got skim for themselves. Eventually we switched to skim. Then my roommate and I in college would buy 1% usually... that was a compromise as I was used to skim and she was 2% lol. And now we do all 2% because that's what ILs always buy. I cant tell much of a difference between skim, 1, 2% now and will drink them all/whatever is available.

ETA I also bounced around a lot between the different kinds.. like my great grandma would give me 2% then I'd go home and have 1%, or skim if we were out of 1%. Drink mostly skim, have 2% at school, 1% at grandparents all in same day. So it's pretty much the same to me.
I am the only person in the family not lactose intolerant nor daily allergic. I get a quart of 2% and a quart of half&half (for my coffee!) delivered from a local farm every week. It is THE BEST milk I have ever tasted  Now when I travel I get americanos to drink black because I can't stand the taste of commercial half&half!
Yes! Even with the paper straws, you may have to ask because they don't always just give them out. I had that happen at Sci-Fi. The CM apologized profusely saying he couldn't just hand me one and that I had to ask. He was so nice and I told him not to worry at all! (Writing this as I take a sip of Coke Zero from my nice plastic bendy straw) 😂 🥤
I'm a weirdo who doesn't like straws at all
I have metal, glass and reusable polycarbonate straws. Metal are my fav for retaining the temp of the drink and you can boil to clean. Glass can be boiled but doesn't retain heat/coolness of drink. Poly ones cannot be boiled but are usually the cutest. I even bought Disney ones with mickey heads all over them years ago at wdw.
Good to know! Dd19 would like to venture into reusable straws.

Ugh I guess I didn't multi quote the comment about using a toothbrush holder--that is genius and I will suggest that to dd19! (editing to add: thanks @disneymagicgirl )
