Ok, what is going with the Chase travel portal. Now Thrifty and Dollar aren’t showing up when I search for a rental car for Aug at MCO. I tried other dates and no show then either. Grrr...

Oh and while on the subject of showers and bathrooms. Take comfort in the fact that we don’t come across these types of signs at hotels in the US.

This was taken before having had coffee, while concerned about using the right converter so I don’t blow out all the electricity in the hotel. Now I gotta worry about this.

I can verify this from home. lol My DS takes the longest freaking showers and has set off our fire alarm multiple times.

THE TOOTH FAIRY ISNT REAL??????
:rotfl:

Of course they are! PP was just afraid since they were out of town the tooth fairy would have to make such a long journey that it would interrupt their schedule and she wouldn't get to all the kids that night and someone would wake up dissapointed. PP was just helping out. By the time you have kids you will have this all sorted out ;).

I’m kind of in a state of shock at the no shower curtain or door thing. I mean I’ve showered in some strange places, lol boarding on TMI, but in a US hotel I apparently have a 100% expectation of a shower door or curtain.

Does she mean no door on the bathroom or no door on the shower? Aloft hotels and several other hotels I've stayed at have had that part glass thing on the shower sort of like what is pictured. I've not had the drainage problem, although I do remember one that if there was any kind of blockage, it would have gotten every floor wet. The last Aloft (the new one in Ocean City) was fully enclosed but older ones in Jacksonville, Fl for instance, no.

Prepping this weekend for our trip that leaves on Tuesday. Washing clothes, making a packing list, checking the weather - is it really going to rain everyday on our trip?!? I know Seattle is known for rain but I thought it would realize this is my vacation and be sunny.:rotfl2:Well that is what the rain jackets are for.

Starting to see a similar type of shower more on hgtv in US homes. I don't get it, I want to keep all the heat in the shower and that requires a door or curtain. Nevermind that it just seems messy and no privacy, not that a clear door would provide that but at least it's a buffer and if someone was seeing you in the shower I'm sure of other things so I guess you don't need privacy. It just seems impractical.

It works fine in my home. I have a partial glass 'door' that swings out on an upstairs shower that is in an alcove with a sloped roof line. Had to figure out a way to fit the bath in efficiently so as not to waste all the bedroom and closet space so we went with the half open design. So far after 7 years, no problems. And, gasp! there is no bathroom door! This bath is constructed inside the bedroom so the bedroom door would presumably be closed if someone is showering. Plus when inside the bedroom you cannot see into the shower area without physically walking into the bathroom. Also use a high power exhaust fan that vents directly outside. The bath area is 10 by 8 but height was an issue so the 'open' part is the sloped part with full height at the shower head - the reason we used a custom hinged door.

might want to check road conditions though, In Trona, theres a few places where the road crack and separated...
https://roads.dot.ca.gov/Double check your highways here before you start your driving. Biggest issue with earthquakes is rockslides.

Thank you both! Right now it looks like only 178 out of Ridgecrest is closed. We’ll be heading East on 190 through Death Valley so won’t get as far south as Ridgecrest. I’m plotting an alternate route from Yosemite to Vegas as a back-up that would avoid the Death Valley stretch and take 95 over to Vegas. Luckily we only have 1 hotel booked on the original route and I believe it has a cancellation policy until 4pm the day before. We leave Yosemite on the 14th so that’s when we need to make the final decision on route.

I assume California locals would see no issues continuing with our plans as long as we have a back-up route?

No issues that I see.

I had a minor meltdown last night. I had gotten an email from DCL that there was a delay processing my OBB Placeholder and I would need to call and provide payment info again as they didn't have it now that the cruise had ended... This completely slipped my mind. And when I first read it it sounded like just one of the two placeholders we had done was an issue, and I would swear there was a charge for the other on DHs Plat. I remembered it at random last night and pulled up the email... Said I would lose my booking at midnight on July 4th! Noooooooo! So I called right away and... they were both cancelled!!!! Nooooooooo!

Luckily they were able to reinstate the offers for me. I just had to sit on hold for a bit because they had to reach out to the onshore guest services or something like that. On the cruise we had swapped out whatever card was on there to DHs new Plat for these charges and whatever we went over on during the trip. Last night he was on the phone with his family so I just grabbed his newest CIP. Ah well, $500 towards MSR there and should be 3x points.

Hopefully they'll start going away like shiplap and subway tile. I'd rather buy a fixer upper or build from scratch than move into something someone else has done to what they think people will like because I guarantee I won't like most of it. Have some imagination people, you don't have to just do white subway tile.
Hey I like subway tile. It fits perfectly in my 1920s bungalow. You can keep the shiplap.

Amazing the things we do for kiddos 😊 Mickey himself snuck into our hotel room and left gifts a few times, including tickets to MNSSHP. The tooth fairy left DS extra $$ for his first tooth as he never had 2 bottom teeth, so was behind the other kids. Santa and the Easter Bunny have tricks up their sleeve too. And DS age 3 asked why we donate gifts for kids at Christmas when they could just ask Santa for everything they want, so Santa only brings one gift per kid, Mom & Dad bring the rest, and we donate lots of gifts as well.

Finally got my Amazon account targeted for the Amex promo! Promptly used it to order my b-day gift. An Apple Watch!!! I never spend that much on myself nor buy myself anything techy but I'm super excited!

Same for me! Well, actually I was trying to get targeted for the 30 off 60 but the 20% showed this morning. Ordered a screen house for use on my deck and a fire bowl for my patio. My other screen house has some rips and the tape I used looks a little not so nice. My previous fire bowl is still okay but it is not as pretty as the new one I ordered. Okay - I just love outdoor stuff!!! The other day at Costco I bought two of the white leisure line Adirondack chairs cause they were marked to $89 - online they are $149. I have two perfectly good LL Bean chairs from a few years back that are in mint condition because they fold and I rarely take them out of the shed.

The new ones are the poly ones and I hope to just leave them out in a spot I choose as they won't rot - 40 year guarantee.

No door on shower.

Note to self: look at bathroom pics before booking hotels.

CIP referral questions... self-referral is okay? And if I have multiple CIPs just in my name, can I theoretically get 5 referrals on each?
