I don't know how you all do it with adding cards! I just applied for BoA Alaska Air card and was declined after submitting the application online. Interesting, I hardly have any cards and my credit score is somewhere 790-815 depending on which site I use. Do they do reconsiderations once I get the declination letter in the mail, and can call?

BoA is a pain. They like deposit accounts these days. If you call recon, I bet they will list "Lack of deposit accounts" as one of the reasons. They are also significantly more sensitive on inquiries and new accounts than they ever were before. If you're willing to offer to open a checking account on the phone, that might help. But you've already got the hard pull, call them and see what they say.

We had a truck loan with them but it was paid, so I suppose we aren't good enough customers unless I get on board with a deposit account. Yes, I'll call them once I get this letter that it said will be in the mail with the reason. Not a huge deal, I just have some airline tickets to get with Alaska Air for maybe two trips and could have used the companion pass along with it so the sign up bonus would have worked out pretty nicely.

further PNC questions..... looks like the bonus is for performance spend or select. If I chose a simple basic checking acct and a savings I can still fund with the 2k cc right? I'm still confused, does this initial cc deposit count as a DD?
oh...yes one other question...... if P2 is main acct cc holder for our CIP, I have an employee card, can I open the PNC acct in my name, using my employee card?(just to simplify things in case I have to call them)

Sooooo it wouldn't be crazy to book a 1am flight out of Denver (so technically Sat morning at 1am) that lands at 7am Saturday, and then back at 8pm Sunday night to do the Arts Festival, right? Right??

Not at all.

And I see 2 envelopes from Amex labeled Important Tax Return Document in my Informed Delivery today.

Nothing for me and I would have thought we'd get them the same day because it's both west coast.

What was wrong with the Hilton?
Was doing a site visit for a work conference. After seeing Marriott grande lakes and Wyndham grand Bonnet creek it was a big let down. Room was okay. Hotel looks like a hospital/jail! View of the highway. It’s a convention center hotel. Not very resorty! But I loved wyndham grand so after I saw it I was sold:)

At MCO—had to leave Hilton Orlando (depressing) and my flight isn’t until almost 5. Thought I’d hang out in club mco but apparently I can’t go through security until 3. Oh well.
what hilton? do tell-did you like it?

Not familiar with the basic checking, but I would think there would still be a minimum balance or fees? If you're not going after the bonus and just want the cc funding, the easiest should be the high yield savings - no minimum, no fees, no DD requirements.

I've seen DPs that said the cc funding counted as DD. Maybe old info or maybe highly YMMV. It didn't for DH's account. I had my account requirements fulfilled for the bonus without counting the cc funding. His I counted it to test it out. They process in batch, so my bonus posted, but his didn't. Then I pushed $2000 from Chase and his posted at the next batch.

it's posts like this that make me say what I did the other night to my DH (when I was gonna fly to DL for one day just to eat the cool snacks) and then he gets all freaked out....:rotfl2:

Ok...someone upthread said I had to do a checking in order to get a savings ..... so I was gonna try for both, and fund each separately with my same (employee) cc..... is that going to work? I don't see a rule about keeping basic acct open...(yes a bonus would be nice, but I'm too tired to chase one right now.I just want to get the current MSR done) ETA- basic checking has a $500 rule to avoid a fee

Mine is all, lets go this weekend! Um... first of all, that 1am flight is usually $60pp but since this would be in 14hrs, it's $150pp. Then $90pp back. And it's Frontier, so if you want to sit together (DH cares way more than I do about this) that's another $19pp each way. So we're at $556 for flights. Then we need a hotel for one night, and the only thing I see on property really is the Dolphin for $200. Even the DS hotels are just shy of $200 for one night. I even checked Priceline, best there was Hilton Bonnet Creek as a blind deal for $140. Anything left with Disney is over $300

And after I explain all of this to DH, he goes, that's not too bad. I have to draw the line at $700+ for 36 hours. :rotfl2:

They might have different rules for different regions like they have different interest rates. If there is an early closure fee, this is what it would look like under the Service Charges and Fees sheet:

Early Closure Fee............................................................................................................................. $25.00
Fee assessed if the account is closed within 180 days of opening

Not too sure about needing a checking account. I already had the Virtual Wallet when I did the savings. Though I didn't see anywhere that said you needed it. But again, maybe different rules for different regions.

It’s the one by sea world. I hated it from the moment I drove up! Just boring/bland/ugly. I’m sure it serves its purpose and the staff was friendly but no way would I recommend it for our conference. But the reviews are decent so it may just be me. Also I did have Hilton diamond internet access and couldn’t keep my iPhone on WiFi to save my life. No issue with the other properties.
