I've had pageplus forever and I'm ready to switch.... service is getting worse and I'm sick of it(runs on verizon towers supposedly too) I may try total
Our service is mostly bad in our house. T-Mobile actually sent us a signal booster that we placed in the window and now we get full bars in the house. There are some parts of town that I don’t get good signal

The 6am update was my wife is going. Luckily I had packed for her yesterday against her wishes so that we at least made sure we had space for her stuff. She said when she woke up she realized that she’d just miss the kids too much and that she can’t let the anxiety win.

Flight takes off at 1pm and we leave for the airport in 30 minutes. I’m running on 4 hours of sleep (plus a 45 min nap that I just had) and have a terrible headache. Thanks all for the prayers - hopefully the rest of the day goes smooth.
So happy to read this! I'm not as good with words as so many of our friends here but I hope the day goes smooth and you ALL have a fabulous trip!:grouphug:

I'm alternating between Citi AA and CIP for both P1 and P2, but I have room for more spend, and am sticking to 95 days between apps at the same bank. Any suggestions of other cards I should be hitting?

I plan to go for a CSR (or MDD) when it's time to redeem, or when the CIP loophole closes up. These UR and AA points are earmarked for a big vacation in late 2020, and I don't have any other specific goals--which is why I'm not sure what to pursue. Anyone see any obvious (or not-so-obvious) choices to add to the mix

Player One
5/2006-AmEx SPG/Bonvoy
1/2007-Chase Freedom
5/2017-Citi AA personal
2/2019-Citi Costco
3/2019-Chase CIP
4/2019-Citi Biz AA
5/2019-Barclays Aviator Biz AA
6/2019-Chase CIP 2

Player Two
5/2006-AmEx SPG/Bonvoy (AU)
7/2008-Chase Slate
5/2017-Citi AA personal (AU)
2/2019-Citi Costco (AU)
4/2019-CIP
5/2019-Citi Biz AA
5/2019-Barclays Aviator Biz AA

Looks like you could both do another amex biz of some sort. What hotel chain are you planning for your trip?

I used a mix of transfers from Amex Personal Savings (similar to Ally) and Fidelity Cash account (that I opened last year for a bonus and now it helps me earn bonuses!) and they triggered the WF $400.
So ach transfers from other savings accts works to fulfill direct deposit requirements. Do you have to schedule the electronic transfers in advance or can you just do it for that day however many times required? Does this work for other checking acct offers? I had avoided all direct deposit checking bonus offers

Make sure she takes her medication at the airport and then again on the olane. Good luck.

I just have no idea what to do. Part of me wanted to just pack up at 10pm when I finally gave in that this was official and start driving. But what do I do when I run out of energy at 4am and we have no hotel room. We could leave in the morning but do I really want to spend my day driving to Jacksonville...to wake up and drive 6 more hours then on Sunday. And of course, driving home would be tough too. But I don't want to leave her... Thanks for the kind words. I just cannot figure out what to do right now...and I'm not really in a coherent state of mind either, just sad, emotional, etc...

@SouthFayetteFan - I'm hoping that you are all in the car together heading for your vacation. I can sympathize with both you and your wife, and unless something else is going on, I'm sure she doesn't want to be left behind. I've learned to accommodate my irrational fears. Even to the point of a plan to fly when driving is impossible. That gave me a churning stomache and it was not even an immediate concern, but I have a certain determination to try to get me through for important things.

being left may make her feel guilty and she doesn't deserve to have guilt over having an illness. You may have flown out already and this is not meant to make you feel bad. It's a situation that you can't control and you are someone that works on making things as seamless as possible - not a bad thing but sometimes life gets in the way. If you did fly with just the girls, I'm sure you will keep in contact and show her your love.

Give it a go. It takes about 10 mins to get a phone switched over and set up and it is from the comfort of your own kitchen table. I bought the SIM and the refill cards at Best Buy for the points and they go on sale occasionally. Or you can set up auto renewal for a 5% discount on the total wireless website. There is no commitment. If you hate it the first month you can try something else the next month.

Yes. The one-SW card rule only applies to consumer cards. The 24-month restriction on the Performance biz card bonus is product-specific, i.e., only applies to the Performance card, so it doesn't make you ineligible for the Performance biz bonus if you've gotten the Premier biz bonus in the last 24 months. Standard rules and guidelines for Chase biz card apps apply.
I'm still pondering this new info, but I am sort of thinking the great thing about it is now you can go for CP one year with 2 cards (personal/biz OR Biz/biz) and the alternate year top off your points with the 3rd card (biz or personal, whichever you didn't use for CP). Another churning win for SW flyers!

There’s a lot of discussion about how to use them over on the Disney Gift Card Deals thread. Basically, they run as a credit card only at the specific brands listed. I’m not sure about Universal Studios, but a lot of folks buy the Happy Guy card to use at Home Depot as “credit” (don’t run it as a gift card, because it’s not coded as a gift card and Home Depot doesn’t accept GC>GC anyway) to buy Disney GCs, or you could pick up a gas card.

The Happy Lady card works the same way at Bed Bath & Beyond, which also sells third-party GCs, but BB&B probably has a smaller GC selection than HD.

Thanks @Lain ! I'll go see what cards Giant has available, and give this thing a try

If you look at the info for each bank bonus on DOC, there are comments as well as a link in the actual bonus info that will show you what has been working and what has failed.

ETA: Here is a link to the WF bonus page. I scroll to comments and filter by newest and skim those. Also click where I show here and it takes you to DPs

Remember with the Southwest consumer credit cards, there's a 24-month bonus restriction across all the consumer cards. You're not eligible for the bonus on any Southwest consumer card if:
  1. You are a current Southwest consumer credit cardholder; or
  2. You have earned a new cardmember bonus on any Southwest consumer credit card (Plus, Premier, or Priority) in the last 24 months.

Oh, thanks for posting this. I wouldn't have thought to look there. Is it still just availability out for one year, like it is through Xanterra?
I just looked at July 2020 for a few dates, not all. It says sold out which I think might just mean unavailable. Since Xanterra manages the properties, I would not see them opening up earlier on a different site than their own.

For information, I have seen other NP lodges on Chase - Paradise Inn in Mt Rainier, John Muir Lodge in Sequoia. I would definitely check there.

Thanks for this info. The direct deposit checking offers like this Wells one... I always assumed you had to mess with calling HR and filling out forms to get your check redirected. Can you ACH instead to fulfill the direct deposit requirements or maybe schedule the ach from another bank acct instead of doing it for that day? Sorry if this is a really dumb question- I never do these checking acct deals just the savings acct ones occasionally
Not a dumb question at all!! You can try to trick the system by pushing from another bank to your new bank, but you have no recourse if anything goes wrong and you don’t get the bonus because ACH transfers don’t meet the qualifications.

We cover this on the Bank Bonus 101 thread with ideas on finding the most up to date DPs on ACHs for different banks on DISchurners so check that out before trying.

Wow what a terrible night that has become... As many of you know, my wife has a fear of flying. She'd been managing it well all week but apparently today, this afternoon, when I got home from an enjoyable afternoon at parent's day at my daughter's golf camp, she decided this trip was the last straw. Planes make her ill and she isn't going. She was physically sick laying the bed...

She's said this on each of the last 2 trips and acted this way but ultimately ended up going. Major difference this time...she refused to pack. I packed for her but she has maintained she is not going. I'm so unbelievably sad and torn right now. I would drive but if that was the case I'd have left last night at 4pm... now I sit here at 11pm trying to figure out what to do. Jacksonville is 12 hours which we can do in one day. And we could be in Captiva by 10am Sunday then (and not really miss anything). My wife says I should just go and take the girls...but this incredibly sad to me because I work and churn for family vacations...not 75% of the family vacations.

I don't even know what the point of this comment is... I just skimmed the whole thread from today and sorry I didn't pass out my usual allotment of likes. I don't like much of anything right now. I'm sorry...just not really myself right now...very torn....

EDIT: for those just seeing this now, she is coming as of the next morning.
Sorry to hear about the uncertainty around your vacations. I'm sure the fact that you don't know what the future holds and the shock of the possible last minute change in plans is a large part of your emotional rollercoaster. If you can't fly in the future you guys will make the best of where ever you do plan to vacation either through driving, train or puttering around Pittsburgh.

I am sure once you both have some time to talk through all the issues you'll come up with a plan that works for your entire family.

Best wishes.

I think she actually just wants the three of us to go on the flight. We weren't prepared to drive, we didn't plan it the right way, and it wouldn't be fair to put my girls in car seats for 40 hours (round trip) over the next 8 days. I think that's really her desire and I love her and want to respect her wishes this time. We'll somehow have a great trip without her :)

I also have flight anxiety, but sending my family without me would be even worse for me. In my twisted mind, if we are going to die, I would rather all do it together. I can’t even imagine if I sent them off without me and something happened and I survived because I didn’t go. I would want to die anyway so might as well do it with them. I hope she decides to go with you.

If you received the bonus for the business card, you have to wait 24 months from time of bonus (not opening) for personal cards too?
