Thanks everyone for the HHN tips. AP rate is $60 person. Sounds like it will be crowded and we won’t be able to do it all but still fun. Front of line is a lot more $$ can’t really justify thatLast year Stranger Things brought a ton more people than normal apparently. It was our first time. They are doing another ST house this year, so it will probably be the same.
You reminded me, I need to decide if/how much of this promo to use. After I use up my FFDs, we will have about $5k to pay still...
Other than cash advance issues, all of your math works out for me.
Thanks!Like others have mentioned, the lines for the haunted houses get super long. I've only gone once and we were able to get two houses in. The atmosphere was still very cool though walking around. We went mainly because my DS was a big Walking Dead fan and he wanted to go to that haunted house so that is what took up most of our time. My friend's 10 year old DD was with us and she was so scared they left early.
Me neither! I think I read every single post and then there will be quoted messages or talk about things that I never saw and I am like, how the heck did I miss that! lol
Front of line is over $100 eachI have not done it in Orlando since my UCF days however I did it 3 or 4 years in a row at Hollywood and honestly it was worth it there to buy the pass with the front of the line access....think it was like $50 or $60 more a ticket but was completely worth it instead of waiting an hour and a half to two hours for a house. We were always able to do every house and every ride and be gone before closing.
Me too! Paid down balances and spending. Not sure what to do!!!!Ugh, $2500 spend on dh's Amex in the last month or so and still in pop up jail!
Yes 2.8 ahead without any other incentivesOk, thanks! So you come out 2.8% ahead with CF 5x? I don't have any of these store I keep reading about lately...stop n shop and such.
More like Johnny WHO???!!!Uh... so I came home to a nice blue envelope from Amex with a complimentary $100 gift card to Johnny Was “in appreciation of [my] Card Membership.”
Thanks Amex?
Others have answered plenty of ways around it. Congrats on the move !!!I just realized I’m not sure how we would double dip on dh’s CSR travel credit because I don’t see us having any travel expenses coming up in July
Doing HRH in October did RPR n February. Have to say we did 3 nights and were barely at the resort. This trip will be more resort time I’m excited to compareSlide might not matter to the kids but it makes ME happy LOL! We might go with Hard Rock for that reason lol! Plus my younger daughter’s career goal right now is to be a Pop Star so she’d enjoy the hard rock vibe I bet!!
Can you downgrade now and then re up grade before the trip in November. Would you get the travel credit again????Could somebody else second this comment. I notice nobody else chimed in and I just want to make sure I’m not overlooking any details that might matter to people.
(Probably something related to trip insurance and rental car coverage which I don’t pay attention to)![]()
I wouldn't play too many games with Chase with upgrading and downgrading the same card. It could be asking for trouble, most people playing the CSR upgrade game are doing it with multiple different cards (i.e. like how my wife and I both have 2 Freedom cards). Can you downgrade now and then re up grade before the trip in November. Would you get the travel credit again????
I upgraded to the Priority last year....it’s the same 5/24 slot...not a new cardSo I have had the SW Premier card for 3 years. Can I call and upgrade it to the Priority? Would it be the same slot in my 5/24 or a new one? Any disadvantages to doing this? It seems like a no brainer as you get more anniversary miles and the $75 travel credit negates the difference in AF. Am I missing anything?
Thanks! This all makes good sense. I’m thinking there aren’t as many Hyatt’s in the vicinity of places he’ll be traveling to and so he won’t end up there often.I think program-wise, Hyatt has the best right now after Marriott Bonvoyed SPG.
But in terms of footprint, Hyatt has far fewer locations than Marriott or Hilton, which can really inconvenience DH if he has to travel and can’t find a suitable Hyatt nearby.
Comparing the two biggest chains, Marriott or Hilton, I’d probably go with Hilton’s program if I was paid/reimbursed for travel. Remember, @disneymagicgirl’s DH travels a lot for work and tends to stay at Hiltons. Maybe she could chime in? I guess the major thing is with Hilton and paid stays, it’s so easy to earn lots of points. Unfortunately, I think your DH needs to charge travel to the corporate card, right? So he wouldn’t get the additional earning power of charging a Hilton stay to the Hilton Biz, Ascend, or Aspire. But these cards could still boost him to automatic Gold or Diamond status, which would give him a bump in the points he earns for stays as an elite member regardless of what card it gets charged to, and would give him the perks of room upgrades and free breakfast.
NEW (Standard?) signup bonus of 80k RR pts / $5k MSR available via public link
Even without paying with a Hilton card, if you could get him to Gold status he gets an 80% bonus on base earnings, Diamond status is a 100% bonus; so you'd get double the points on someone else's dime. You get Gold with the $95 AF Hilton cards or the AmEx Plat, can get Diamond with the $450 Hilton Aspire. Can also do a status match challenge from another program if he's going to travel enough in a short window to meet the terms. Thanks! This all makes good sense. I’m thinking there aren’t as many Hyatt’s in the vicinity of places he’ll be traveling to and so he won’t end up there often.
I think Hilton could be his best option but no, he won’t build up as many points as @disneymagicgirl’s dh. Mine will have to pay with a corporate card. But good idea to look into a card for him that gives him some status!
I haven’t seen anything that said there was a company preferred chain but I know dh said that every time someone has come out from this company when his current work was going through the software implementation with them (and he was on the customer end), the person has stayed at HIE. These have been a few different people coming out over a year or so.So I was going to go against the grain and suggest either IHG or maybe Hilton, since you are looking for an exit from Bonblooey. Not that I traveled extensively, but IHG was our policy preferred hotel chain and there seemed to be good reason - everywhere I went and most everywhere I heard from co-workers had a brand available. This worked for me since I was going to look for them anyway having the most points in that account. They also usually had the most reasonable prices for comparative rooms so it was easy to justify (and again, probably why they become the preferred program).
In terms of just footprint, Hilton is also a good choice plus does he have a Plat that gives status? That could also make it nice on his trips and rack up the points faster. I found Hyatt limited and usually a touch higher in price, so while it would be nice to earn free Hyatt points, you may be splitting it with another chain anyway (depending on where he ends up travelling. Do y'all have any idea yet if it'll be the same areas over and over or could be anywhere? If it's the same regions or something you could do some research for what's available)
Isn’t that overkill? Why the bag if you already Clorox’d It?I do this too!! DH laughs at me for it, but the remotes are sooo yucky. On a recent trip I wiped our remote with a Clorox wipe just before putting it into the ziploc bag just so he could see why I do it. That wipe was so filthy and black. He doesn't laugh at me as much now.![]()
Now see this sleeves me out for some reason. Eating someone else’s food? Nope. Shower curtain? Nope. My biggest skeeve is toilet flushed with lid upWe’ve finally had some time to settle in a bit and made a frozen pizza (that they left in their freezer lol). So it almost feels like we bought a partially furnished house. They left so many cool decorations and even a whole patio set! All of the shower curtains were left, all of the bathroom accessories, they left the freezer full of unopened snacks, large area rugs, lamps. They had asked us if they could leave some decorations and we said yes but they left so much! We love it because now the walls aren’t bare. I’ll attach some picture so you can see some of it. The dining room furniture, kitchen table, bar stools, and living set we knew they were going to leave.
It reminds of a patient I had once, he was 96 or 97. He had two gentlemen visit every day, they were in their 30’s. They talked about how he lived with them and they took care of him. I assumed grandson, until one day on leaving One said “Bye Dad, see you tomorrow”@SouthFayetteFan - this is my normal life now. But, didn't start having those symptoms until 60plus. Are you sure you are NOT a little retired older man as I originally guessed (with a lovely young wife and kids - May - December you know - nothing to hide!).
I always have hand sanitizer. I have one attached to my purse. Drives me nuts that I have to remove when going thru airport security. The things that get me are door handles. You can't avoid them. They are everywhere. How do you all rationalize these? People touch them all the time and there is no hand sanitizer next to most of them for people to use. I just grab and open and try to have a place to wash up before eating. But, like most people, I constantly touch at my face, wipe at my eyes, have a ticklish nose, on and on.
I told my sister I would take niece to DL next year. I would pay (use points) air & hotel, she would buy park ticket. Nope. I would never charge family.Just had to comment on your generosity to family! I love it! A few days ago, I was reading one of those 'what to charge my family' posts somewhere on the disboards after plans were already made. They drive me nuts - if you need money, figure it out before you invite someone.
I need a 20-21 cp and plan on doing just as you described.Warning: Random strategy discussion to follow:
Boy this new SW card has thrown me for a bit of a loop. I really want to keep drinking from the cup while that loophole is open. BUT, I have a SW CP that expires on 12/31/19. AND I've earned 29k SW points this year so this ONE biz card and it's 85k points would earn me a CP for 2020... I don't have to decide now, but to ensure the points posted before the end of the year I probably need to make this move in the next 3-4 months. CIP2 for me is scheduled for August and if I pull the trigger on that, I'd probably want to wait until November to apply for another Chase biz card. That would be too late IMO to try this because I don't want to cut it too close and miss out.
Ok but then...what if I timed this for a 2020/2021 CP? Maybe self-support comes to this card. I could get 10k from self-support, 80k from the bonus, and 5k from the base. Now I'm just 15k away from a CP... I could upgrade my personal to a priority and do an advance on my 7,500 anniv points via a refundable SW fare...I could also do an advance on my 9k anniv points on the biz card again via a refundable SW fare...boom I have a 2020/2021 CP.
Hmmmmm...I have a lot to think about here. And this still comes back to, do I prefer having the CP over just drinking from the cup until it flips over.
I have a CP through the end of 2020 already, I just want more miles LOL!Warning: Random strategy discussion to follow:

Thank you! I think I'll call today.I upgraded to the Priority last year....it’s the same 5/24 slot...not a new card
Reasons were the same as yours
