Giant has a max of 1.50 off per gallon and 20 gallon max purchase. The 20 gallon actually works okay as you can save your points for the next fill and not have to store gas. But, since I've never done this before, I was in the dark on the rules and was planning to fill my five gallon container if I needed to. I've pumped 27 gallons in the past but I do not want to hit actual empty on this vehicle.
We use Weis and they have a 20 gallon and $1 off max. Works well for filling up DH’s Pilot and he takes the gas container with him since the riding mower constantly needs filled too.

Am I missing any possible cheap car rentals? Between DH and I we have bonvoy visa, bonvoy amex (originally spg), bonvoy business Amex, CIP, CSP, CF, Disney visa, and all of the SW personal cards.
We really never rent cars on vacation but need one for a 5 day Myrtle beach trip. Besides booking on points, am I missing any ways to score a deal with any of these cards?
Figured I’d ask the experts before booking a not so hot (but best I can find) Hotwire deal.
Thanks in advance!

Got my $1,000 FFDs from Plastiq for referring my wife. And her $500 FFDs are showing too now :)

The most remarkable thing to me about the grAAvy train...we're going to go from 10k AA miles to 433k AA miles in < 6 months. (2 player mode of course - but it's still INSANE to me)...

Remind me - did you open a HELOC specifically to use for Plastiq to earn miles? I know you are very close to mortgage payoff.

I do not have a HELOC and will never be getting one. But I just wondered if you are so hardcore you got one just for your AA points! :)

Some few interesting notes posted from my other group.

Hilton Devaluation - seems like some properties went up by 10k. Source
AA gift card redemptions via Amex Plat credit may be working again. Source

I actually noticed this. I've been trying to figure out my extended stay in Charleston for next month. One hotel we stay at when we go had been 40k/night all summer. Suddenly it is 50K well into fall. :crazy2::headache:

Has anyone been to Charleston? The Amex platinum collection has a decent (but still astronomically expensive) rate at the Belmond. Any experiences? We were looking at the Governor's house inn also. This is our first time in Charleston. Any recommendations are welcome. Need to book soon.
It is possibly you've answered follow up questions on this thread already, since I'm behind as usual, but when are you planning to go?

I’m pretty sure he’s lucky enough to get a fee free HELOC through the bank he works for.

We’re using a HELOC as well. It’s been paid off for years but the line of credit is still open so we’re doing a quick withdrawal and paying back via Plastiq. It’s a nice avenue to have but I wouldn’t open one just to MS either.

We opened one a year ago and have yet to touch it. Might try to use it for this, but not even sure how to get the money. I think I have to email/call the guy to transfer it. It is through our small credit union. If I have to do that then not sure it will be worth it. Also, I am sure there was supposed to be a fee to open it and we were never charged. Not sure if they will charge us on first use or if they forgot??

Does anyone here have the barclays arrival plus? Or have opinions on it.... Does anyone know of their points will credit against a Disney AP charge.

Here's what I am trying to do....get enough cash back (through bank bonuses and cc sign ons) to buy APs for our family of 4. Open to any other cash back cards with high sign ups. Was about to pull the trigger on the savour, but saw bonus went down from 500 to 300. Hearing the arrival plus may get pulled soon and $700 is pretty good.

I am 4/24, but really have all the chase cards I want/need. Only thing I would really consider would be CIP #2, but i don't know if I'm really brave enough to try.
I just upgraded my boys' hoppers to APs last month on my Arrival+ and it says I have no eligible charges to redeem my points against...so I think it doesn't work.

Ours is through our local credit union (used to be small but has since grown pretty big). I wasn’t sure how to withdraw either but they told DH that we could do online transfers from the HELOC just like with any of our other accounts (from checking to savings for example). I’d definitely call and at least find out how you could transfer.

Sorry I can’t answer about fees. We opened ours when we got our original mortgage so any fees were part of that process.

I had a great experience with autoslash dot com .... Book the lowest thing that you can find and after you can track it on there and if anything lower opens they will email you and let you know with a link to the lower rate.

If you have a Costco membership check out Costcotravel dot com. We usually find a great price and it’s fully refundable, no payment info due until pickup. I usually book as soon as I know the dates we’re traveling and then check every week or so to see if the price has dropped. Easy to cancel and rebook as needed. Free second driver too.

I think the only way to get the upgrade to work is if you can charge it back to the room.

Uh oh... I don’t usually put much stock in horoscopes, but there are plenty of familiar characteristics here!

This post brought to you during a break in my museum work, after which I will go home & continue researching PhD programs :scared1: That’s a little too real.

And out of nowhere, the new Chase Marriott Bonvoy mass consumer card is up: https://creditcards.chase.com/travel-credit-cards/marriott-bold?CELL=6TKW
(H/T to r/churning)

From first pass they implemented a 1 Chase Marriott card rule, so you cannot get this card if you currently hold a Chase Marriott personal card or received the bonus for one in the last 24 months.

Eligibility for this product: The product is not available to either:

  • current cardmembers of the Marriott Bonvoy™ Premier credit card (also known as Marriott Rewards® Premier), Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ credit card (also known as Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus), Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ credit card, or
  • previous cardmembers of the Marriott Bonvoy™ Premier credit card (also known as Marriott Rewards® Premier), Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ credit card (also known as Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus), or Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ credit card, who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 24 months.
And then added the restrictions for the bonus on top for the other cards too

Eligibility for the new cardmember bonus: The bonus is not available to you if you:
  • are a current cardmember, or were a previous cardmember within the last 30 days, of Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express® Card (also known as The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express);
  • are a current or previous cardmember of either Marriott Bonvoy Business™American Express® Card (also known as The Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express) or Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® Card (also known as the Starwood Preferred Guest® American Express Luxury Card), and received a new cardmember bonus or upgrade bonus in the last 24 months; or
  • applied and were approved for Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express®Card (also known as The Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express) or Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express®Card (also known as the Starwood Preferred Guest® American Express Luxury Card) within the last 90 days.
No AF, earns 3x at Marriott, 2x on anything else that codes as travel. 50k sign up bonus after 2k in spend, no annual free night as you would expect from a no AF card, but does get the 15 elite night annually which will get you to Silver status.

Actually not a horrible card but not worthwhile for a churner I imagine.

Edit: Thinking about it, probably not a bad card to PC to if you don't want to pay for the free night for a year but could use the elite night credits?
