No it’s not. I was actually going to try them because I hear they have a peanut butter cupcake too. I went to Red Velvet. No line.

I have been to wise guys. It is ok pizza. I’d rather that than papa John’s. Super expensive though. I think it was like $3.50 a slice lol

Plus tax. I hate eating in DC because I hate paying their high tax.

Ok, now I'm debating the Busch Gardens/Sea World ticket deal... BG was on my radar for it originally but thinking now, I know DH would like to do SW Orlando. So do I do 1 day or 2 days? I mean, 2 day tickets would make for an okay weekend trip right? Especially during off season when parks close earlier anyways...
I nabbed ours for our June visit. We had been debating about doing Discovery Cove, without the dolphin swim since we have done those before in the Caribbean). I think I now have everything for our June vacation. Now to plan our July vacation. Thank goodness Aug is done, unless I can find inexpensive flights to Punta Cana to change to 7 nights instead of 5.

u/Gonzohawk

or can we blame DoC's ill-conceived tweet?

I wouldn't blame him. If he didn't publicize a lot of things most wouldn't pick up on it and that 'most' could easily be this group.

Also, he probably guessed it wouldn't last anyway.

meh, just get another CIP OR 5 :P

Or they all order the same "Chinese" sauces from the same food supplier, so it all just tastes the same...

I whine about living in a fairly high COL area, but I do appreciate that we have lots of great restaurant options (even if I mostly eat at home to save $$$, its nice to have the variety when we do eat out).

capped out of Chase currently... :(
As for Chinese food, it varies haha. I absolutely hate Panda Express...
if u see the same chinese sauces, it aint chinese food, it american food with a hint of chinese. lol

Back when I was working I used to have an employee who brought these to me (from his other job). He worked at some swanky salon that had these for their customers and I would end up with a dozen or so every few weeks. Of course I shared but they are very nice! And then, when another employee found out I liked them, I got ones that her daughter created with fillings etc that were also excellent - daughter did it professionally.

There was a pretty good cupcake place on King St in Alexandria (forget the name), and it's probably a year since I've had a cupcake there, but worth skipping dessert if your eating out and going for cupcakes and coffee.

Speaking of Alexandria and coffee, Misha's has some of the best fresh coffee in the area. It's on S Patrick St, off King St.

There's also a really bad Ethiopian restaurant on Queen St named Hawwi. I recommend anyone and everyone try Ethiopian. Just not Hawwi. Their injera is far too dense and dry, and their food is much less flavorful.

Ha, funnily enough we did our rehearsal dinner there! Wanted something lowkey and not fancy and we had a great time. My mom was FURIOUS about it at first. She was under the impression I was going to have some huge fancy wedding for some reason. I'm not sure why, since she wasn't paying and I was less than 8 months into my first job when I got married lol.

Oh man, I'm so glad you posted about this because I TOTALLY FORGOT!! Thankfully they aren't sold out and I just went and bought two tickets!
Where is that deal at?

@SouthFayetteFan I actually have all of those same spreadsheet categories on mine. I just didn't have screenshots. Now that may prove to be a 150,000 HHonors point problem for me. Ugh.

Regarding the CIP - I don't think there was a limit on the points. I spent over $6000 on one card with the 3x points last week and they all posted. I'm afraid it is probably dead.

Other DP for this thread---

Panera is just fine for us mid-westerners in smallish towns with no real bagel shops anywhere. I much prefer Panera over bagels in the bags at supermarkets. (YUCK!)
Papa Johns is delicious.
Chick-fil-A is superior to all other fast food restaurants due to their outstanding service, delicious breakfast, lemonade, and chicken sandwiches. :)

I like Panera but not for their bagels although I will certainly eat them, especially when I got free bagel for a month!

Chick fil a - grilled chicken sandwich and half tea half lemonade. No fries. But I still haven't forgiven them for discontinuing their lemon pie. Kids like their chicken soup.

I LOVE Chicfila. I get the nuggets with fries. Their nuggets are soooo good

I get the point, and agree that fit is important. However, saying that "fit" it the primary criteria can breed pretty homogeneous employee groups. "Fit" was important to a former boss of mine, and I wound up working in an office entirely populated by white guys who played golf. They fit in great, and were very comfortable with each other, but it didn't offer a lot of opportunity for women or minorities to get hired. He would have said that he wanted to hire a woman or a minority, but that the candidates just wouldn't fit into the team. (Not sure what it says about me that I was pretty much the only girl he hired, and I don't even like sports!)

Not to say that people can't be aware of their own biases and expand their definition of "fit" to accommodate a wider range of candidates, but there is a lot of temptation to say that the right "fit" is someone who is culturally similar to me, or a lot like the last couple of people I hired, rather than someone who can be coached to deliver the kind of service you're trying to deliver. Hiring is really tough - I've gotten it right, and I've gotten it really wrong, which can be a giant pain.
So agree with you. I remember the first time I had to terminate someone and it was an awful feeling. (Pretty sure I went home and cried afterwards.) I had to go through 3 EEO complaints from terminations. Given in the federal government, it really hard to terminate after the 1st year, I had to make the tough decision or else we would have that person for the next couple of decades.

No kidding. I don't mind Americanized Chinese, if its good (nothing wrong with good old Chicken & Broccoli). We have a good takeout place that is fresh, tasty and well prepared. Authentic? No, but all the cooks are from China (the guy who owns it is second generation, grew up in town and knows his audience!) We do have a really good szechuan place not too far away that is the real deal- most of the customers are from China ::yes::

There used to be (ages and ages ago) a really good Ethiopian place down by Dupont Circle. Only one Ethiopian place anywhere near me now, and it isn't very good. Bad Ethiopian is really bad, which is funny because good Ethiopian is so amazing.

I'm looking into using URs for a ski trip to Jay Peak (staying onsite) 2/16-2/20. It says they are sold out. Am I too late or is is possible that they haven't been released. Wondering how far in advance they would normally book up. Last month they were "sold out" too. Would anyone at Chase travel have any idea?

My kids love CFA and I like it but try not to eat fast food (I have other vices like sweets and diet soda). But our Chick Fil A is the worst. The people aren't very friendly, it's always packed, and they seem to be incredibly slow. It's the only CFA I've ever been in like this.

We were coming up 95 through the Richmond area a few months back and pulled off to go to a Sam's Club, to get gas and we noticed a CFA. It was extremely slow, busy but so slow! I'm used to getting into CFA lines and not worrying because they usually move. This one was sorry.

So now I'm actively looking for this offending thread, and I can't find it. Am I just super clueless? Or is it buried?

I think it was winked out of existence. It was on first page as someone responded to it this morning, and now I don't see it. The poster's response was somewhat ironic in that it said they were surprised the thread was still up since it's a banned topic/agency and any threads mentioning it are usually removed. Wonder if they hit the buzz words to put it on someone's radar and it poofed finally.

Omg I tell my DH this all the time when he wants to go out to eat because we have “nothing” at home. I really hate going out to eat. He knows better than to suggest going out as a treat for my birthday or Mother’s Day. I’m always telling him I’d rather eat peanut butter and jelly than go out. But that said, when we travel you can’t avoid it and Pittsburgh is one of those places we go fairly often and always struggling where to eat. So what’s the name of the place, maybe I will like it. Lol. We usually end up at Church Brew Works or Penn Brewery (hmm, I guess you can tell what’s we really after, and I know you are no help there) but im getting tired of those two. And we don’t like Primanti’s.

ETA just saw more of your comments, so maybe just tell me the places you don’t like. Lol. I think maybe those are the places I would like. Only on travel.
Haha - trust me, you don't want any of my recommendations on places to eat in Pittsburgh...this is not my area of expertise. And in truth, I'd honestly prefer to go to Arby's over anything else from a price meets quality standpoint.
