Holy guacamole! Well I can’t say I’ve ever felt like a peasant until now o_O I’m gonna have up my game here. Thank you for the incentive :teeth:

I’ve always felt like a peasant reading about how you and Plane Princess travel in such style. So it’s me who’s humbled that you find this stash anywhere near impressive, because that makes me think I can plan some pretty awesome trips with these points.

@Lain That MR stash is impressive! I only have 1/2 that amount, but that was almost all from organic spending over the past several years.

I hit Amex really hard last year, including calling in for the 100k MR Biz Plat and self-referrals when I could. The only MR-earning biz card I still don’t have is the BBP. That’s next, hopefully with a self-referral. The only MR-earning personal cards with any significant SUBs left are the Platinum flavors, i.e., the Ameriprise, Morgan Stanley, and Charles Schwab. Then there’s the Green, Blue, and Everyday cards that are small potatoes. However, I can’t touch any of those until I’m willing to give up being under 5/24, which I won’t be again until maybe next spring. I can’t go for the Blue or Everyday if I go for the BBP, because that’ll max out my 5 Amex credit cards limit, unless and until I can close another one. I can’t go for the Morgan Stanley Plat unless I’m willing to fund a $5k investment account. I won’t go for the Charles Schwab Plat until I’m about done and by then maybe tempted with a cash out.

Right now, I’ve been focusing on maximizing a lot of MR-earning Amex Offers. I had a streak of good luck a few months back when I got some of the same Amex Offers as MR and statement credit, making double dipping those a no brainer. Also, with the Amex Gold earning 4x MR now, and Meta MCGCs liquidating at only 1% on Plastiq, I find myself buying a lot of MCGCs from supermarkets these days to pay bills.

This is all in one player mode, so I’m about tapped out, but my wife doesn’t have any MRs to her name yet and has all these cards to look forward to (one’s she doesn’t have to call for, at least).

@speedyfishy and anyone else who had been following the AA biz with EIN situation...

I app’d 4/9 for AA Biz #2, was approved while #1 was still open; both of these with EIN. The EIN is legit and for a business we are both named on.

DH app’d for AA Biz #1 on 5/4, finally was able to talk to them today to answer questions and approved. He (ahem I) WAS going to app with his SS but in the end I got really nervous. Sometimes I’m just really not comfortable pushing boundaries and would rather apply overeagerly with the same EIN than lie and say he has a business of his own that he does not. So, instead his app was with the same EIN as mine had been.

It will be interesting to see how it goes. I personally wouldn’t abuse this but really I was just curious to see what would happen. I will follow all timeframe guidelines in the future if we try for more of these.

The whole thing is so silly because I asked on here towards the end of last year if there was any way to get around not being able to apply for the same card and same EIN with Citi for two different biz owners, as we are able to do with EVERY OTHER brand of biz card. I should have just tried this then and we could have all been doing this even longer ha ha!!

@Lain

Yikes. I think I get at least 10 calls a week from spam numbers. I don't answer anymore, but if I do it's always in Mandarin. They are spamming our area code big time. Scary that they used Chase's fraud number.

I’m sorry. The multi quotes are all wrong.
I can’t stand these spam calls and I can’t figure out how to stop them for good. Lately, I get 5-10 spam calls A DAY from places like Lithuania and Sierra Leone. I have a block list with a couple of hundred blocked numbers. That works until they start calling from a different country. Lol.[/QUOTE]

Yes - same questions...Was your business name “FIRSTNAME LASTNAME”? If not you won’t win this one unfortunately.
I think it was. DH filled it out. I'll have to double check. Ok. So now what? Wait and reapply?

Is the Arrival+ the only Barclay you have? I got my dh his Arrival+ on 1/16/19 and he can't seem to get approved for the Aviator biz card. That is his only Barclay but he'd gotten other cards around there (both SW plus and SW biz in 11/18 and 12/18). Barclay is super sensitive to inquiries on your CR.
I do think this card is a good start for you. If you don't have a lot of hits on your CR, you may be just fine.

Love your new avatar!!!

So, I just redeemed some AA miles and used my latest card's $250 travel credit for actual flight and car through the AAvacations site. I didn't want to do it because I need all that for WDW but it's a situation where better to do it than pay cash and actually better flight options on AA portal.

Long story short - my MIL went for a shot in her back about 6 weeks ago. To help with back pain. Doctor nicked a nerve and she immediately lost all feeling below the waist. Had to have emergency surgery to relieve a hematoma in her spine. Hasn't been able to move her legs or any feeling below waist since. Was in ICU for 3 weeks, then moved to a rehab facility and in a few days is moving to a different one. They are going to have to sell their 4000sqft 2-story and get a small ranch. My dh needs to go back to help his dad in about 10 days.

Was super thankful to have the miles and travel credit. SOOOO much cheaper than cash for flight and car!

Hey friend,
Sending prayers your way:hug:

Are you kidding me! That's enough MR to book a couple of RTW flights in first class on ANA. You could book business or first on ANA RT to Japan for up to 5 people with that stash. You can do Singapore Suites with those MR points. There are endless possibilities. Well done and yes, color me impressed! I see an Amex business charge in my near future LOL.

The ones I get actually have the same area code that I have. They aren't local, but they found a way to make it look like it's local so people answer it. I specifically don't answer local numbers unless I know who it is. Of course, this creates issues when doctors call, etc. So annoying.

Wow!! Sounds like the same shot! Some kind of epidural steroid thing is what she had too. My in-laws are celebrating 50 years of marriage next year. Wonder if my MIL could handle this book right now or if it’d be too much. I definitely want to read though. Thanks for sharing about it!

I thought it was interesting (I read a lot of memoirs) but I wasn't thinking about it from the perspective of someone who has experienced something similar. Parts of it were hopeful but parts were pretty darn scary.

My philosophy is---if it's important, they'll leave a message.

Yeah...so DH applied for LAST NAME CONSULTING. So what now?
