we have gay people in our family whom we love. We would NEVER, EVER eat the DOG!
Podcasters- Come to Nashville for the GKTW event in Feb. and you will see that the majority of people here have all of their teeth, and do not spend their days drinkin' moonshine and pickin' their banjos! ;)

I only drink my moonshine at night.

I had Moonshine at the Swan / Dolphin Food and Wine Classic.

Thanks for making me laugh!

That is too funny! Maybe moonshine is going to be the next big thing! All of the celebrity chefs will be makin' 'shine!

I'm glad my post gave you a chuckle, Kevin. You're comments on the podcast never fail to tickle me, so I am glad I could return the favor.

We lived in MA for many years and now live in the Nashville area. Many, many people have relocated here from NY, NJ, FL, Chicago, and CA because their are jobs here and the cost of living is reasonable. Just like anywhere (even MA), if you stay in the metro areas there is diversity. Actually, Nashville and its southern 'burbs are becoming quite trendy!

I live in Memphis in the heart of Mid-Town, considered the 'heart of weird' in the city and can assure you that there are a LOT of enlightened folks in the great state of TN. My wife and I are in Nashville a few dozen times a year for Predators hockey games and visiting friends and completely agree with lodgelady in saying that the vast majority of the city embraces all walks of life. The East Nashville community might be one of the most embracing communities in the entire country! We're looking forward to the Dis Meet and will definitely be there!

When you say "counter culture" in East Tennessee, folks here think it means you support the Florida Gators, Alabama Crimson Tide or LSU Tigers instead of the Vols.:rolleyes1
