I Like Warm Hugs! - Mommy/Toddler Trip ~ Updated 6/20: New Trip Report Link!

Loved the Duffy meet and greet. I won't get it posted for a while on my trip report but the Mickey Meet and Greet at MK with Mom was priceless. Some of the characters can do a lot of interaction in just a few minutes and others seem like they don't know what to do.

Well that stinks that you have to wait in a long line to get the free print. It kind of defeats the purpose I think.

VERY impressed with your ability to keep your cronuts intact with that little covering.

Oh trust me, there is no picture limit on my Duffy love. That bear means a whole lot to me. That is such a precious meet with him. I'm so glad that more and more people are finally getting on the Duffy Train. Once you meet him once, you'll be hooked.

Awesome thank you so much for all the tips! :worship: And the mini marshmallow tip is brilliant too! When the bathtub is filling up with water and he's completely naked, we'll tell him to sit on his potty (which, BTW, does Izzy have her own potty or does she have a seat on top of the toilet? He has his own that sits on the floor) and he'll sit down for a few seconds and gets back up. But now i'm just wondering how different it is to train a boy than a girl. Not sure if we should start him sitting or standing...oh geez, off to do some research!:lmao: Thanks again!

we had it much quicker with Olivia than with Peter - actually still working with Peter as he regressed after Emma was born (which is typical). Definitely recommend underwear with characters he like on them just so the he wants to get to wear them. And we have a treat that he only gets for using the potty (we use m&ms but I am sure mini-marshmallows would work too - just whatever you use only have it available for when they use the potty)

One thing you can do at the beginning is use underwear and then a diaper over that. This way they still feel it when they go, but you still contain it without getting pants, etc dirty

Bummer about that line for photo prints - is it always like that? Hat when they advertise a perk but then make it challenging to actually get said perk.

BTW - are the Disney cronuts different than normal crounts?

Looks like a great meet with Duffy! I've kinda been anti-Duffy as it feels like something they invented just to sell all the outfits - but clearly I have been depriving my kids if happiness. :rotfl:Glad the CM did such a great job with the photos and video!

Umm cronuts are croissant donuts?? How did I miss that?!? Guess I'll add that to my future trip list! (In like a million years :( )

Cute Duffy meet! Love that she was so excited!

Ooooh, can't wait to hear about your Mom's meet with Mickey! You are totally right - sometimes the characters make so much magic in a short time and sometimes they fall flat. I think we had a lot of good luck on this trip with the characters - they were almost always excellent! :thumbsup2

It was annoying. And I doubt the line is always that long, but I just didn't have the luxury of coming back later - it was either then or never. And I wasn't willing to give up an attraction or a character meet for a photo. It was the right call.

Ha, me too. If only I'd thought to bring a to-go box. :rotfl: Luckily, I always bring a lot of zip locks when I have Izzy (they come in handy for a lot of stuff!), so that helped, once I remembered to put them in and pack them away. :rolleyes1

Nice, glad I didn't cause a Duffy overdose! :goodvibes Having a toddler that loves stuffed animals has really changed my opinion of Duffy. I actually was kind-of sad that they didn't have him available to meet at Aulani (you'd think they would, since he's so big in Japan and there are tons of tourists from Japan at Aulani. :confused3)

Thanks for chiming in! You are making me glad I have a girl. :rotfl: Thank you for saying that about doubling up the underwear and diaper, though. I had wondered if that was something people do, but I never saw any mention of it in my internet "research", so wondered if I was crazy to think that was the best of both worlds. I think that might be the next thing we go to, as Izzy has been doing an excellent job of going in the potty and keeping her diaper dry all day (except during sleep).

And, Alicia (@Leshaface ), I'd also throw in that my biggest tip is to keep bringing him to the potty every hour or so, to make sure he has some success. That is the main thing that the back-up daycare did and it really made a difference. Now our regular daycare person is trying to bring her more often and we are doing so at home. She's doing great using the potty and keeping her diapers dry. Before the last week, she would often tell us AFTER she went in her diaper, but just this weekend, we noticed that she seems to have caught on to the feeling of NEEDING to go and is starting to tell us before and ask to use the potty. What a difference a week makes!

I don't think it's always like that, but it has potential to get pretty long, since it's a fairly slow-moving Photopass counter line. Under normal circumstances, I'd just circle back later in the day or on the way out, but I just had a tiny window on this trip and missed out. We have gotten the photo on a couple other trips and my memory is that the line moved slow, but wasn't as long then.

BTW - are the Disney cronuts different than normal crounts?
I doubt it. Probably just more expensive, due to the pixie-dusting. :rotfl:

I clearly remember seeing Duffy plastered everywhere on a pre-kid trip and making fun of him. It seemed like a silly marketing ploy, like you mentioned. But what a fun character to meet. Who doesn't want to hug a giant teddy bear with a Mickey on him bottom? :rotfl: The funny thing is that Izzy has a Duffy and a Jedi outfit for him, but NEVER wants him dressed. So, marketing backfire, Disney! :lmao:She actually seldom plays with Duffy at all, but he hangs out in her crib, along with her 27 other "friends".

Ha, yeah, I felt that way after our June trip - that's why it was a must-do for August. But now it is on the May list because I think I need to try one fresh.

Cute Duffy meet! Love that she was so excited!
Thanks! So far, Duffy has been a big hit with her. She did her shy thing in June, but loved him back in Dec. 2013 too.

Great pictures of Izzy and Duffy! How super cute!

I tried the infamous cronut last May. I guess I am the exception here, but I didn't love it. And I still can't figure out why because I love croissants and I love donuts. It makes no sense. Now addicting ice cream to the mix does sound super yummy. I might have to try it again!

Oh that Duffy meet was so sweet! It's cute how excited she is, so excited she doesn't even want to turn around. Charlotte was like that when we met Olaf. So fun!
Bummer about that line for the pic. I guess something "free" has to be a pain.

That's interesting to hear. I have to say that I (spoiler alert) didn't finish them and couldn't help but wonder if they were more of a treat fresh. I'm assuming so, but interesting to hear that you didn't care for them fresh either. I think we both might need to try a fresh one with ice cream next time! :thumbsup2

I bet Izzy would just be over the moon if she could meet Olaf! :hyper: It's funny to think that we basically spent our afternoon hugging giant stuffed animals (well, and eating treats) - but what a perfect afternoon when you're two! :rotfl:

Yep, you pay for it in other ways. ::yes::

Great Duffy pics!! Jake really loved him too - what's not to love about a big teddy bear?? Plus we saw that story on the cartoon channel in the room at least 50 times during our trip!

And that cronut looks yummy! I think I lost track of all the treats you enjoyed in Epcot! In one day!

The Duffy pictures you got were great. It was defiantly worth the stop. That's too bad that your free printed pictures were not good.

I wanted to watch the Duffy Bedtime Story on this trip and just never got around to it! For some reason, we seldom turn on the TV in hotel rooms. It's like we forget it's there (and are generally too busy to think of it). I think Duffy has the advantage of not being intimidating, as he's such a huggable-looking teddy bear!

Ha, yeah, and that was after having the parade package treats and lunch at DHS too! So much yummy food, so little time... :rolleyes1 I actually skipped Karamell Kuche because I was so stuffed and I figured my dark chocolate sea salt caramel (that I would have gotten) would melt on an August day if I took it along for later. :sad2:

Thanks! I'm glad the CM really went all out taking Duffy pics for us! :thumbsup2 And, in a way, maybe it's best we didn't have any GREAT pics from the Disney Visa meet or else I'd be upset that I didn't get the free print. They were still on our Photopass and nice to have, but just not stellar mantle-worthy pics.

Sorry you had to pass on SE and the free print...but you got a very sweet M&G with Duffy instead, which seems like a fair trade!!

Cronuts - YUM! We split one last February, but I think next time Michael and I will each need our own! Good call getting an extra for Izzy, rather than sharing.

Cute pictures with Duffy!

Duffy AND a Cronut - seems fair! ::yes::

It seems like it would be a good call to get her an extra one, right? Yeah, you'll see how that pans out the next morning. :rolleyes1

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

What a great meet! How was the cronut? It looks so flaky and yummy!!
Pretty sure it would have been better fresh. :sad1:

What great pictures with Izzy and Duffy! She really did love interacting with the characters on this trip! :lovestruc

Mmmm.... cronuts. :mickeybar

That's a bummer about Spaceship Earth, but you'll just have to catch it in May. Hopefully the Visa picture line is nicer to you in May, too!

Absolutely adorable Duffy photos!! They are so cute. Glad you were able to get all the photopass pics :) The character photo print thingy is nice but at about $1 to print a 5x7 from CVS, not something I'd wait in line for either. Never have tried a cronut, interested to hear how it tasted. $10 seems pretty steep for 2 doughnut like things, they better be delish!

Wouldn't mind one right now (with ice cream)!

Very true. I need to make a lot of plans for May - so many ideas floating through my head on things to do, but no actual "plan" yet. :sad2:

Thank you! :goodvibes She was just eating up the Duffy hugs and attention that day.

Exactly - I figured that I'd at least have the Photopass pics available later if I desperately wanted a print. But I hate missing out on freebies! :rotfl:(Thanks for helping me get those PP pics, though! ;))

Yes, really steep, I think. Honestly, they were just okay by the time I got around to trying them. But I think I will give a fresh one with ice cream a shot in May - mine were cold and I think that makes a difference. :confused3
