Hi,

What is the difference between Benihanas and Teppanakis? Is it worth the time spent at the restaurant for 2 27 year olds?

If you like Benihana, I wouldn't waste the time at Teppanyaki. You may get a lot of dissenting opinions on this, but we've done many different Japanese steakhouses (Benihana, Kobe, Arigato, Kan Pai) and we were incredibly disappointed in Teppanyaki.

The food was bland, the chef's "show" wasn't as good as others we've seen, and you get very little for your money.

We're both in our mid 20s, since you mentioned ages.

My dd's ages 18 and 22 love Benihana's. They also love Teppanyaki, the thing I was most dissappointed was that they don't have fried rice, I love Benihana's fried rice. I think the rest of the meal is fine. We are going there on this trip in 7 days :Pinkbounc

I agree with the above posters. Teppanyaki didn't compare to Bennihana, but since my 2 DD's had never been to Bennihana, they loved it.

Teppanyaki has been one of my family favorites since our first visit 10 years ago. I can't compare it to Bennihana but I can tell you that the shrimp on our last trip was so much more flavorful than anything you can get in Toledo.

We went to Tepenayaki a couple weeks ago and we were not impressed. Luckily we were on the free dining plan so it was not a huge concern - but had I paid the $143 out of our pocket for this dinner I would have been upset. There was myself, DH & DD6. The atmosphere was ok - but the food was just so-so -- several limitations for the dining plan. Desert was a single scoop of ice cream and drinks were limited to soda. Appetizers are very limited on the menu -- either sushi, salad or soybean soup....nothing for DD6...

Our family goes to Benihanas at least once a month (the kids love the place), and we also love going to Teppanyaki. Teppanyaki is more expensive as soup and salad are not included, and as a previous poster noted, doesn't serve fried rice. The chefs also only do plain grilling--no teriyakis.

However, the sushi is much better, and the iced green tea and saketini are great. I also like the mellow atmospher at Teppanyaki--Benihanas can get very noisy at times.

We ate at Teppanyaki last week, and I have now revised my opinion. With all the changes in their menu, it really isn't worth a visit, especially if you can go to Benihana's.

::MickeyMo DBF and I are early twenties. We go to Benihana's and Arirang's and we really like Teppanyaki. We've always gotten so much food that we can't even finish it. We love it there. It's always a must-do for us. ::MinnieMo

My DH & I are in our 30s and Benihana is probably our overall favorite restaurant. We were disappointed with teppanyaki- more expensive, not as much included with your meal. And no chicken fried rice. :guilty: I would probably go to a different WS restaurant OR do what we did- go to the Benihanas in the Downtown Disney Hilton & go to Epcot afterwards! :teeth:

Out of 12 days eating at WDW Teppanyaki was our WORST meal of the entire trip. I love Benihana and Teppanyaki wasn't even in the same league. Our waitress was rude, the portions were small (think 1 small steak split between 2 adults at full price), and no soup or salad included. I will never go there again, but I'll be at Benihana soon.

We ate at Teppanyaki in Sept on the Dining Plan and had an absolutely delightful meal. They did say it was the last day to order some of the specialities, DH had steak and shrimp, and I had lobster, shrimp, and scallops with sushi as an appetizer and ice cream for dessert. Our chef was entertaining, and Don loves the chef hat he got with "Happy Birthday" in characters. I would likely repeat this.

I have been reading all of the wonderful reviews of the place and now you guys are telling me it doesn't even compare to a BENNIHANA!!!!!!!!????????

I am used to eating in very fine Japanese and sushi (Not chain) restaurants and everryone on the board gushed about this place and now it is being compared to a chain restaurant!!!!!!!!!!!???

Now if someone goes and tells me LeCellier is much like an Outback Steakhouse (which i rank somewhere just above a Mickey D's) I'm cancelling the entire day at EPCOT)

Are the mexican restaurants like Taco Bell?

Is Nine Dragons like the chinese bar at Wegmans? - I'm getting scared.

Benihana is much better than Teppanyaki, at that. I've eaten in many Japanese restaurants as well, Teppanyaki just pales in comparison

Le Cellier is not like Outback, though. I can't stant Outback.

The CS Mexican place is no better than Taco Bell. The indoor one is very iffy.

And Nine Dragons is a very good Chinese restaurant. Definitely not like fast food or take out, it's the best I've been to.

Le Cellier and Chefs tend to be our favorites at Epcot. It's not all bad, the ethnic foods just tend to be Americanized.
