Hi everyone.

We leave next Wednesday:banana: I'm just looking for any little helpful hints and tips about SSR.

Have any of you had anything done at the spa there? I'm thinking about treating myself to something.

Haven't tried the spa, but I love :lovestruc Turf Club. If you have time, try it out. My favorite thing about SSR is walking to DTD. DH and I really enjoy getting a few drinks and catching some live music at Raglan Road or House of Blues. I also love the ability to resort hop via the DTD Marketplace Bus Station.

Make sure to skim through the "portable perks" booklet they give you at check-in,- you might be able to save a little money on something. Also, look at the "Horsin' Around" Newsletter to see what activities they have planned during your visit. They have things like flower arranging, baking, jewelry making... My best advice is to keep your resort map handy the 1st few days as it is a pretty big place and it may take a few days to get oriented. Also, (I am sure I don't even need to mention this as it is probably 1st on your 'must do' list) take some time to tour the models at the preview center.

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!

YAY thank you sooo much!!! I do have that planned to check out the preview center.

I really want to see the AKV because we bought over the phone so I can't wait to check out the room of our home resort! Were actually going to Boma one morning for breakfast so I can't wait to check out AKV.

Thank you for your advice :)

I am sure after you see the preview rooms and visit the AKL you will have no regrets. DH and I just stayed at AKV in Aug and the resort was SO excellent- it blew my mind. I had seen the preview rooms and liked them, but I was unprepared for how much I would love my actual room at AKV (it was warmer and cozier than I had remembered from the preview center). The whole resort overall is just exceptional. You made a great choice!

I can't wait to visit our new home resort too. We bought site unseen except for the models we toured last Nov. I have heard such wonderful and amazing things about AKV on these boards.

You will enjoy staying at SSR too. That is our other home resort. I just love how close you are to DTD. Artist Palette is very good too. So make sure you stop in there for a quick bite to eat. I have never tried anything at the spa but people do rave about it. The main pool is a lot of fun too. Just take somem time to walk around SSR. I love the grounds and it is a nice walk over to DTD too. ENJOY!!!!

I did the hydromasssage and it was very relaxing. Allow sometime either at the beginning or end of your treatment to soak in the hot tub. I was the only one in the hot tub and it was so nice. I also like the fact that after being in the water they has a place to dry your swimsuit in a high speed spinning machine!

We love to take the boat over to DTD grab a treat and do some shopping. There are tons of good restaurants over there. We use most of our counter service points at DTD. We love the Earl of Sandwich, Cookes of Dublin, and Wolfgang Puck Express. We like to pin trade at the Pin store over there. The girls love Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in the World of Disney store. We like to pick up a Christmas ornament at the Christmas shop. The kids also like the Lego store and Goofy's Candy shop.

The spa is to die for so don't miss it. You can rent bikes if you are so inclined. Pick up a schedule of activities when you check in. There is always something going on everyday at the community hall. You can pick up free DVD's and board games there. There will usually be a movie by the pool on select nights.:wizard:

http://www.relaxedyet.com is the website for the spa so you can peruse the "menu". I've done the Mystical Forest therapy which was half massage and half reflexology - I LOVED the refelxology! I've also had a manicure and pedicure, very nice but I'm not a "nail girl" really. Last time I had the Motherhood Massage (in my 2nd trimester) and it felt so good to lie on my tummy!

I agree with everyone here - try the Artist Pallette, I love thier flatbreads and soups - check out the grounds, they are gorgeous - see the models - and walk to DTD for the heck of it!

Thank you sooo much everybody!!!

I can't wait to try Earl of Sandwich...I have been wanting to the past couple times lol. We will try Artist Palette...I do want to pop into the spa...maybe for just a pedicure. I love them!!!

I will have a TR guys...I will have it in my siggy.

Thanks again :)

AP has some yummy sandwiches- and the spa at SSR is great!!! In my sig is a link to my SSR TR- we went to the spa the first day, and my friend went again 2 days later- she had 2 massages and a facial, also a body polish- she said all were fabulous. I had the Mystical therapies, one of the best massages I've ever had. SSR is a beautiful resort, make sure you take full advantage of being so close to DTD!

Can't wait to read all about your trip- don't forget to take pictures of EVERYTHING!!!!!:thumbsup2

OMG I so will...I take a billion pictures:rotfl:

I'm going to check out your TR now!!!

Thanks for reading my TR- I second the PP's rec of Turf Club- that was a really good meal, I would go back without hesitation. The crab cakes there were the BEST, better than the ones at Fulton's even, IMHO. AND....Turf Club is where we got glow Tink from!!!:tinker: Don't forget to clip her in your hair- Tink LOVES all the rides!!!:rotfl:

I read on another thread about SSR-- and one tip I thought was brilliant, is how SSR guests easily travel to other Disney resorts - they simply walk to DTD, and pick up the resort bus they want to visit - this technique might be a good one to use for your boma meal, although I dont know when resort buses start running to DTD

Have a great trip!

Lynn - I can't wait to read about your trip! We're making our first trip to SSR in three weeks, so I'll be waiting to see what you thought of it! :goodvibes

I was just wondering - does anyone know when you should book spa treatments? I want to try the Mystical Forest Therapies but I'm not sure if I should call now to make an appointment, or if there will be plenty available when we check in. Thanks!
