Does anyone know of a good resort or hotel on the beach in St. Augustine? We are leaving from IL on Wed. (6/12) and are planning a couple of days in St. Augustine before we hit WDW for 10 days. I have alway been one of those people who picks the wrong hotel or resort (bad location, run-down, way overpriced...)
any help would greatly be appreciated.

Friends of ours have stayed at the Casabalanca B&B a few times and they love it.

It's a cute place. If you stay there, check out Harry's for dinner (New Orleans style food - great shrimp po' boy sandwich!) It's just down the street. They have a wonderful courtyard for open air dining and it's very romantic at twilight.

There is also the World Golf Village off I-95 - not too far from St. Augustine.

My in-laws stayed there once (time share) and their room was great. I've checked into pricing for it before and it seemed reasonbable. You do have to drive a bit to get into St. Augustine though.

Good luck! We were just up visiting St. Augustine for an afternoon last week. Had lunch at Barnacle Bills. Great clam chowder and awesome fried oysters.

I don't know of any, but just wanted to say have a great time!! We stayed at Daytona Beach on our way to Florida in May and it was so awesome! We stayed right on the oceanfront in a suite and it was so great to wake up to the sound of the waves crashing!!
