Something tells me that I already know how the crowd on this board will answer, but I need to ask.....here goes:

The choice: Hoop De Doo Review vs Medieval Times.
The Cast: DD8, DS6, DD4, DW and myself.

We're staying at HIFS offsite, so either way we'll have a short drive. (Bringing the minivan.) We do have PS for HDDR, so that's not a problem. Just not sure whether to keep it.

Medieval Times seems to be about half the cost, and they would enjoy the horses. Can anyone make a recomendation?

I've never been to Medieval Times, my teens have though. They went with their HS Band. Loved it! Claimed it was better than WWF. I think it's kinda on the violent side.

We went to HDD last Dec. Everyone enjoyed the show. We had a family with kids about the age of yours sitting next to us. The kids were laughing so hard they were holding their sides. They seemed to really enjoy it.

I have never been to either one but I will say I have heard many good things about both.

LOL -- hadn't thought about that, but I guess we'd be doing thaat at both places, wouldn't we? I know my son will love that!

eating with your hands was at the now defunct King Henrys Feast, my adult DD says they do indeed give you utensils at Medievel Times

There are no stupid questions here. :D
Ive never been to Medival Times, but have been to HDD and loved it. In fact we went in 2000 and booked it again in 2002. I was a bit leary of going back since we had such short park hours while we were there and I felt we were wasting a night. Well the food was as good as I remembered and the show was even funnier. At one point I literally coud not stop laughing and had tears running down my face... and this was after just seeing the same show 2 years prior. After the show I mentioned to the rest of our group how glad I was that we did this again. We really had a great time! I hope to do it again soon.

I don't know if this will influence your decision or not, but it looked like you were in PA? If so, there are MTs a lot closer to you than Orlando. One in Toronto, and one in Chicago. So if you travel to either of those destinations, you might want to save Medieval Times for then (I hear Toronto is lovely;)). I don't know if that makes a difference to you, but my thinking would be that HDDR is something I can only do at WDW. That's why we never do Rainforest Cafe in Florida. We can do that at home.

Kungaloosh!
Morticia.

I've been to both, MT in LA and numerous times to HDD. I loved them both!!! It's comedy routines verses historic "theatre". Funny verses dramatic. Do both, you won't be sorry. If you can only do one or the other I'd pick Hoop Dee Doo like the other poster already said. As you travel around the country you can see MT other places. Hoop Dee Doo is only at Ft. Wilderness. It also hasn't had consistent bookings for all these years for nothing.

Yeah, but to me eating fried chicken with your hands is different than eating, say, beef stew with your hands. The MT here doesn't give utensils. I do not know if the one if Fl does, I assumed that none of them did.

I have to say, in my experience with MT, the food sucked! At the NJ MT in 2001, you did not get utensils.

No utensils in Toronto when we were there, but all food was easily eaten with you hands.

The shows are both wonderful. Food at HDDR was better. I agree with SimonMunro - I'd do HDDR while in WDW because it is unique - MT can be done at several other major cities & your kids might enjoy it more when they are a little older anyways....
