I know other brands are cheaper, but I MUST HAVE _________!

i buy a lot of store brand products. fortunately, i get the brand name stuff i buy on sale with coupons almost all the time, so it costs less than the store brand. my brands are:

all f&c laundry detergent (due to allergies)
downy fabric softener (get it cheaper at sam's club)
pantene shampoo (with coupons and sales, it's almost free!)
head & shoulders shampoo for DH (coupons and sales)
always pads and tampax pearl tampons (coupons & sales)
crest toothpaste (either use coupons or buy in bulk at sam's)
oreos (ok, no sales on these, lol, but they're DH's favorite)
kellogg's frosted flakes & corn pops cereal (again, DH's favorites, so i get them, sale/coupon or not)
pillsbury cinnamon rolls (the store brand rolls just aren't as good, according to DH)

Pantene Shampoo and Dove Conditioner
Tide/Wisk Detergent (we won't die if we don't have it though ... well maybe :rolleyes1 :rotfl:
Multi-Grain Cheerios

Most of the other time just buy whats on sale with a coupon (normally the name brand) and it's cheaper then the store brand anyway!

Glad ForceFlex garbage bags - my boyfriend brought home a store brand the other day, and they rip so much, we have to double bag each trashbag. Never again!

Other than that, I'm usually happy with generic/store brand everything else.

I was going to say, "nothing", then the lists started jogging my memory:
Scot original 'bath tissue' (when did 'toilet paper' become offensive?)
Kellogg's Raisin Bran
Pop Tarts - rarely, but after trying store brands, back to the real thing ;)
Diet Dr Pepper
Weight Watchers Amaretto Cheesecake yogurt
Garnier Fructis shampoo & conditioner - even if the store brand is bottled by Garnier, it's not the same :)

Pedigree dog food

TOTALLY not trying to start a debate - to each his own, and all that good stuff - but I am very surprised to read how many people are brand loyal to Yoplait yogurt. Is there a reason for it, or is it just an advertising habit?

Have you ever read the ingredient list/nutrition label on one of those suckers???

Main ingredient (after the milk, of course) is high fructose corn syrup, and even if that doesn't bother you, its got added sugars to boot!! The sugars in Yoplait are outrageously high. Granted you can buy the Diet version of Yoplait, but then you have to contend with the artificial sweetners.

There are many other yogurts on the market that are sweetened with all natural sugars and/or all-natural fruit bases. The sugar content still may be higher than our hips would like it to be, but at least its all natural!
