I know HHN is a LONG ways off but I still have a question.

We have 6 adults and 2 small children going in Oct of 19. We all plan to visit US/IoA with a 1 day park to park ticket. It is our first visit to US/IoA for all of us and we know we will not get to see everything.

4 adults would like to go to HHN. 2 adults and of course the 2 kids do not. Is IoA open during HHN? We were hoping the 2 adults and 2 kids could go have dinner and hang out in IoA until it closes and then head to City Walk while the other 4 are doing HHN.

Another option would be for all of us to go to US/IoA and then have the 4 adults do HHN as an add on for a different night.

Are parks more crowded on party days? At Disney, party days (nights), the parks are less crowded in the day time before the party starts but I have read the opposite about US/IoS.

So my questions in short....
1) Is IoA open normal hours when US is having HHN?
2) Are the US/IoA parks more crowded during the day when there will be parties that evening or are they more crowded on days when there are no parties scheduled.

We're going the 4th-11th of October.

IOA is usually open till 8 or 9pm during HHN.

Studios do fill up mid to late afternoon on HHN dates. IOA may get busier as some more over from Studios, but it`s never been obscenely busy whenever we have done it. Although as we are usually in The Studios for HHN`s we have only done this once or twice.

Citywalk can seem more crowded too we have noticed.

Note there is a lot of walking at HHN. You may be rather tired at the end of a full day at both parks, then tacking on HHN after. There isn't a discount for doing both the same day. If your schedule allows, I would be inclined towards doing a 2nd night for HHN so you aren't exhausted and unable to really enjoy it.

Heads up on your HHN dates... a lot of schools in the southeast have fall break around Columbus Day. Some schools have off that entire week leading up to Columbus day, and others have a long weekend around it. We actually head down to ORL every year at this time, as do thousands of others. Expect crowds. Buy express passes. ;-)

If you do HHN the same day, you can at least stay in the park in one of the corrals, which puts you ahead of the massive crowds waiting for the gates to open. It guarantees that you get into the most popular houses first, even without an express pass. (typically) Just be prepared to caffeinate!

If you want to avoid large day crowds, do UO on Wednesday Oct 9
Parks should not be packed during the day as it is a work day for many.

HHN in past years included Wednesdays.

Hopefully it would not be a heavy crowd that night for you.

Columbus day is Oct 14 this year.
Crowds would be building on Thursday Oct 10 going into that weekend.
