I know about child swap but what about parent swap?

My DH cannot go on many rides due to medical reasons and my kids are getting older but not old enough ride alone like in the seat behind or in front of me. Is there a thing such as parent swap where I can ride like Barnstormer with one child and then again with the next child and my husband exits with the first child?

The program at Disney is called Rider Swap. If it is only a 2 seat ride, then you would go to the CM, explain your DH cannot medically ride, and I would think they would give you a Rider Swap pass. This will allow you to ride with child #1 (while child #2 waits with your DH), and then you would use the swap to return to the ride with child #2.

Usually speaking, RS is for when there's a child too short, but if Disney won't let child #2 ride alone, it's only a 2 seat across attraction, and your DH cannot medically ride, then I would think they would work with you. If all of you can fit in one car on a ride, I would expect that Disney would have you do that and then not offer the swap in those instances.

ETA: If child #2 is old enough to ride alone according to Disney, but it's the parent that is apprehensive about the child riding alone, I doubt Disney would offer a swap accommodation, as they would allow the child to ride alone.

I agree with the PP. The other option for you is to go ahead and get FP+'s for your husband, then simply use his band for you to ride with the second child.

How old are the children? Is it possible for the two of them to ride in one seat and you sit behind? I did that on a solo trip with my boys when they were about 4 and 8 - they sat together on Thunder Mtn and I sat directly behind. Also, they sat together for Toy Story Mania and I sat in the same car, back-to-back. We sat in the same row on Splash Mtn.

Looking at the ages of the kids in your signature, that trip was around 4 years ago. In the meantime they have tightened up kids riding without an adult right next to them. What you experienced doesn't really happen anymore.

I'm not sure. But they allowed us on several rides to use rider swap even though my 6 year old was tall enough to ride, but was afraid to. They were pretty sympathetic about it (probably because she was freaking out in line). But it wouldn't hurt to ask. It also probably wouldn't hurt to plan for worst-case scenario and do as a PP mentioned and make FP+ selections for all of you, but use your husband's band to go the second time. You'd have to go back through the line, but in most cases that doesn't really take that long.

I'm sure the CM would be ok with it, but I just want to add that most rides could fit an adult and two kids. SDMT can't of course, also RNR and EE. But hopefully it won't even be an issue most of the time!
