I Knew There Was A Reason Why I've Always Hated My Birthday - COMPLETE

I don't know if you listen to any podcasts, but WDWToday has their Reunion scheduled for the beginning of December, so you could always meet up with other Disney nuts. And All Ears is doing stuff that same weekend for their 15th anniversary. I wanna say it's something like December 8-12.

It sounds like your first day was a success. We usually do Downtown Disney on our first day too. It's always Rain Forest Cafe for dinner but last trip we tried T-Rex and really loved it.

Aww I don't think you have a problem! That happens to me too, but usually with Illuminations or school bread or somehing.

I have no idea how to tell if a clam is happy...but then again that question applies to a lot of expressions. :p

I love the new Lego displays! I think the dragon is still my favorite, but the Toy Story one is adorable too! :goodvibes

Hopefully you can go in December! You would love all the decorations!

Aww I like your Mickey ornament! We got a similar one last summer that says 2011 on it. It's my favorite. :)

NSYNC and Disney = brilliance.

Aww I love TOMS! I really want a pair! I found a sparkly gold pair and I'm in love with them. :lovestruc

We usually always spend our first night at Disney in Downtown Disney. It's nice and relaxing before the craziness of the parks. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about T-REX!!!

One time, I almost started crying after using a Disney napkin for the first time that trip. A napkin…I cried over a stinkin’ napkin. Clearly, I have a problem.

Hahahaha I feel as if I would do the same thing :rotfl: We really are freaks. But at least we all understand eachother. Disney just touches the heart :goodvibes

I thought about showering to get all of the ‘I was just sitting in a car for 7 hours’ off of me, but I went for the ‘Eh, why bother?’ route and just changed into something a little less road trip-y.

HAHAHAHAHA and this is why you are my favorite trip report writer EVER. :rotfl2: I feel as if I do stuff like this ALL the time. It's one of me and Kristen's biggest inside jokes that is brought up probably every time we are together... the fact that we always find ourselves too lazy to shower :lmao: So funny.

I can't wait wait WAIT to hear about your experience at T-Rex! I'm sad because I can't fit it into my next trip :( ugh I tried and I tried but of course I can't do everything I want to do  I guess I'll just have to do it on the next trip!

And I LOVE the toy story legos. LOVEEE toy story :lovestruc I can't wait to see those in person!

And I really really hope you get to go in December! That would be just lovely :)

Hi I'm subbing! I stumbled upon your last TR and loved it. It sounds like your off to a great start!

HAHAHA it really is. I was reluctant to mention because I don't want people to think we're frumps or something...oh wait. :rotfl:

Can you say "You know you're a DISer when you cry over a napkin (in Disney)"? Hahahaha I find it pretty awesome you cried over a napkin. It shows your die-hard Disney fan-ness (:confused3) :goodvibes

Oh my gosh! I love seeing those signs and yeah, now that I think about it, how is it that a Clam is happy? Maybe because they look content with just sitting there at the bottom of the sea (?)

Oh my gosh! I love those Lego Sculptures! They just never fail to amaze me. I can only imagine how long it would take to make those... where you come to the point where you only finish a quarter of the work than someone else finishes the rest :p Hehehehe

I hope you get to go in Christmas. I've heard really good things about MVMCP. There is a lot to do, I think almost more than MNSSHP, like they have the Candlelight Processional, MVMCP, of course, and the Osbourne Festival of Lights. Try your best to go! :thumbsup2 And I love the customized ornament with your name on it. Maybe, if I go again, I should get one, since I'm the Disney Freak in the family and that would show very well on our Christmas tree ::yes::

Oh, I love looking at all the pieces at Art of Disney. I went through that store while my friends were pin trading. I was going to pin trade, but was just to mesmerized by the Art. My friends zoomed ahead of me, as I looked at everything. So pretty! :goodvibes And I think it would look great next to the *NYSNC posters hahaha

Wow, that's very rare it wasn't too crowded. I've been there at night (late at night) and though there wasn't a whole lot of people, it was a lot of pushy people in there so it seemed crazier than it was. You were pretty lucky. Awesome hat, btw! Always nice to get actual use out of the souvenirs you buy in Disney (:

Awww... slushies in DTD! Definitely a great way to cool down and then some impromptu music, very nice. (:

Can't wait to read about your ADR at T-Rex! :mickeyjum

Downtown Disney is always a first for us too. I love starting the trip off there.
The new lego statues are awesome. Glad they kept the loch ness monster guy still though, he'll always be my favorite!

I love the ornaments you got, very cute. And I so want a pair of TOMS! I love how they donate a pair of shoes to children in need for every pair bought.

Can't wait to hear about your dinner at T-Rex!

I usually don't spend too much time at DTD (sometimes not at all during some trips), but always regret that when I read other TRs! The atmosphere can be fun, especially if it's not too crowded!

OMG! You must go to Disney during Christmas! Many, many years ago my family and I went and it was just extra magical (if that's even possible!). And especially for someone like you who loves Christmas anyway... there's just no better place to immerse yourself completely in the magic that is Disney + Christmas!!! :goodvibes I'll keep my fingers crossed that you're able to go!!!

That could be a lot of fun. I'll definitely keep that in mind. :)

T-Rex was a lot of fun. I've never been to Rainforest Cafe before. How does it compare to T-Rex? I'm assuming they're very similar.
Aww I don't think you have a problem! That happens to me too, but usually with Illuminations or school bread or somehing.

First of all, OH MY GOSH YOU LEAVE SO SOON! I'm so excited for you! We might stay at POFQ in Dec (if we go) so I'm expecting a full write-up and tons of pictures. :upsidedow

Can you believe I've never had school bread before? I really need to get on that. The list of things to do on my (possible) re-do trip is getting quite long.

You should totally buy the sparkly gold TOMS. I've found that they're pretty much the most comfortable shoes in existence. That makes them great for the parks. They're a bit uncomfortable when wet, but other than that, they're perfect. :thumbsup2
Hahahaha I feel as if I would do the same thing :rotfl: We really are freaks. But at least we all understand eachother. Disney just touches the heart :goodvibes

Exactly. At least we're not alone in our Disney freakishness. :rotfl:

I often find myself too lazy to shower. I mean, it's such a process. I will tell you this though, one of the greatest things about college is that not showering is a totally acceptable practice. You can go days between showers and no one questions it at all. It's a wonderful thing. :upsidedow

Don't you hate when you just can't manage to squeeze a restaurant in? I feel like I need to go to WDW for a month just so I can FINALLY dine everywhere I've always wanted to.
Hi I'm subbing! I stumbled upon your last TR and loved it. It sounds like your off to a great start!
Welcome! And thank you! :goodvibes

Thank goodness! There may not be a lot of us, but it's good enough for me!
It really is!! And the after process is SO much work. Having to do the make up and my hair never drying... it's not worth it if i don't have anyone to impress  As long as it's only been a day or 2 or 3 I think it's acceptable to be a frump. After that... I tell myself to get in the dang shower :rotfl: And oh lovely. I am going to fit right in :lmao: I really am a clean person, I swear!!
And umm YEAH! One of my biggest dilemmas. I mean, I'm going for like 9 days in December and I STILL can't fit everything! :( Which is a good thing because then it means I have to go back. But STILL! I wanted to do T-Rex and Chef Mickey's for dinner and there's just no possible way of squeezing those in haha. Oh well!

Love the ornaments you got!
Thanks! :goodvibes

Having to put together those LEGO sculptures would suck. I mean, putting together the base alone would probably take days. Putting together the actual character would probably be fun...but tedious.

Going to MVMCP and seeing it "snow" on Main Street has always been a dream of mine. I REAALLLLY hope we get to go. :santa:

Yeah, I was SHOCKED that World of Disney wasn't too crowded. The area outside of the store was packed, so I assumed the inside would be as well. I'm glad it wasn't.
Downtown Disney is always a first for us too. I love starting the trip off there.

I will be so depressed if they ever take the sea monster away. He's like a Disney icon!

I definitely recommend buying a pair of TOMS. You won't regret it. :thumbsup2

DTD is one of those things where I wouldn't be completely crushed if we skipped it, but I always have fun when I'm there.

Thanks! I REALLY hope that we're able to go. After the sadness we experienced during this trip, that extra dose of Disney + Christmas magic is much needed. :)

Yeah, I don't know how people take quick showers. It takes me FOREVER.

Are you gonna be there ON Christmas day? If so, are you planning a special Christmas dinner. I've spent many hours (this is what I do when I'm bored in class) debating where I'd want to eat if I were in WDW on Christmas. I still haven't reached a final answer. :rotfl:

LOL I totally agree. 20 minutes minimum :rotfl: Maybe 15 if I have to be somewhere important!!

And YES I AM :) This is like our crazy "Let's Go Nuts and go for Christmas AND New Years" trip! I don't even remember when we decided we wanted to do this. But my Mom wanted to book Bay Lake 11 months out.. so we did! It'll be a nice magical christmas.. my first one home after college begins!

And I will tell you my plans:

On Christmas Eve we're going to Narcoossee's for dinner.

Then on Christmas Day we're going to Kona for breakfast and California Grill for dinner.

Skip forward to New Years Eve and we're going to Grand Floridian Cafe for breakfast and O'hana for dinner.

And GUESS WHAT? I was thinking about it and I just decided that it is completely necessary for me to squeeze T-Rex in. So on New Year's Day I am going to T-Rex for lunch! (I cancelled Coral Reef. Oh well! haha) And then we're going to The Wave for dinner.

There are so many ways you could go about doing dinner on these nights. We took the "not going into any parks" route. Which is the safe way to go ;) LOL if you ever come to a conclusion on what you would choose... let me know! haha it's interesting to me to see where people would pick!

You are going to have the most amazing time! I mean, Christmas, New Years, Bay Lake Tower, delicious food...Perfection.

Those plans sound excellent. :thumbsup2 Staying at BLT over the holidays is great because there are so many AMAZING restaurants on the monorail loop. Avoiding the crowded parks is definitely the way to go.

Have you ever eaten at Narcoosee's before? I'm dying to go there. It's at the top of my "Places I NEED to Try" list. I bet 'Ohana will be a riot on New Year's Eve. Forget champagne, I wanna ring in the new year with a lapu lapu.

You're gonna love T-Rex. I know I did. :upsidedow
So glad I found your report!!!

Your hat and ornaments are super cute! :thumbsup2
Thanks for joining in! :goodvibes

Love the DTD update! TrenD is so cute, but I agree, it's so small and disorganized, as soon as I walk in, I get so overwhelmed that I run out into Team Mickey! :rotfl: Someday I'll hopefully buy something there!

The Christmas store at DTD is my favorite store in all of WDW. Christmas and Disney are my 2 favorite things in life, which is why a majority of my souvenir money is spent in that store! I love your personalized ornament!

I like Curl, but again, it's so small! :sad2: I'm going to have to check out those shoes you were talking about! :)

Can't wait to read about TRex! We have a lunch ADR there for our October trip, but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it!

Still enjoying the report.
I am excited to see the new lego sculptures at DTD.
Several recent posts talked about the lego "lock Ness" monster guy that has remained at DTD for so long. Did someone mention his name? If they did I missed it. So, I am thinking you didn't know that his name is ................ BRICKLEY!
I learned this crucial information (where else) right here on the DIS. Perhaps you already knew, but if not, it is fun to be able to greet him on a more personal level.
I wish I could be at DTD and spend a little quality time with Brickley today. But, alas, I must wait.

YAY, a new update!! Kara, are you following all this TVD coverage from Comic Con? Comicon? ComicOn?????? Whatever. The only thing I know is that there is a scene where Damon is wet and soapy, and that is really all I need to know, but hopefully you got some Evil!Stefan spoilers out of it.

I know almost nothing of use, but I do know things like what "happy as a clam" means. The REAL phrase is "as happy as a clam in high water" because clams are healthiest when they are totally submerged in the ocean, to keep themselves as cool as possible. Also, people only go digging for clams in low tide, so that's when they get caught and eaten which does not make them very happy!!!

I am frustrated just reading about these crowds, I really don't know how you do it! Every time we go to DTD there's like 4 people there so I would die.

Those "Let the Memories Begin!" posters remind me of the 50's for some reason. Maybe the font? They just look old fashioned and I love it!

I love your hat and ornaments! Odd that WoD was the only non-crowded place. Maybe so many people gave up on trying to just be whelmed (as opposed to being totally overwhelmed by it) like me.

What instrument did you play in the orchestra?

I totally agree with you. We also did DTD on our first day last trip and it was a really good way to get the trip started. Just ENOUGH excitement, but not Magic Kingdom level of madness, you know?
