I Knew There Was A Reason Why I've Always Hated My Birthday - COMPLETE

This trip report was great. I think so many of us think of Disney as this perfect happy place that nothing can touch but sometimes the real life stuff is just so intense that there is no escaping it. I loved that you portrayed that accurately instead of just piling on the castle pictures and talking about how much you love Mickey Mouse, you know? There was a day on my most recent trip that was really hard for me and I don't know if I'm going to write about it 100% accurately because I really don't want to relive the negativity of it all but I also feel like I should? I know these are just silly TRs on a Disney info message board... but it matters. Anyway, you're the best and I can't wait for you to go on this trip and I'm so excited for you (as I've already said many times) and I just heart you, etc etc.

We laughed, we cried, we cried again, and then we stopped crying and just didn’t care about anything anymore. Ah, depression.

I laughed so hard at this. So painfully accurate. Again: I heart you.

I don’t host wild and crazy parties, I can cook without the smoke alarm going off, and I won’t, like, walk out on the balcony naked or anything. Call me, Disney!

Sigh. I do all of these things. Thankfully, I live in New Jersey, so no one even bats an eyelash. But I LOVE that little part of Adventureland and you'd better share that thing with me if you ever move in.

I don't think Dole Whips are life changing miracles either. I'm definitely a "few bites and pass to dad" girl too.

Thank god I’ll be back “home” soon. I have a lot of wrongs to right. And a lot of Mickey Rice Krispy Treats to eat. And a lot of behinds to kick on Toy Story Mania. And a lot of corny jokes to laugh at. And a lot of hot World Showcase CMs to lust over. And a lot of giraffes to befriend. And a lot of beautiful smells to smell. And a lot of grilled meat to devour at ‘Ohana. And a lot of fireworks to tear up over.

Slow clap. I JUST GOT EVEN MORE EXCITED FOR YOU. Aaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwww yeah! (and I'm not the kind of person who says AAAWWW YEAH so you know I mean business!!!!!!)

I am so happy that you get to go to WDW (in like what? A week?!) and have a better vacation than last year. I can’t wait for the new TR!

I think Disney should allow people to move into little apartments overlooking the spectacular view of the Magic Kingdom and all of the children whining because they want a Mickey bar. That would be the life. Or you know, moving into the suite in Cinderella’s Castle would be nice too, but that will never happen. A girl can dream…

I could so go for a Dole Whip right now. Only 46 more days until I can get one!

Like I said, I can’t wait for the next TR and for you to have a better trip. You should be proud of yourself that you got this TR done even if it was really hard for you.

I MISS YOU DISNEY WORLD!!!

I’m ready to be happy again. :upsidedow

I love this. I hope you have a fabulous trip. Thank you for being so honest in your TR...I really enjoyed it! :goodvibes

Hi, Kara...I've lurked on your TR for a long time but decided to step into the light at the finish to let you know how very much I've enjoyed it. You're quite a gifted writer, and I've laughed and cried along with you on the tumultuous journey you took us on. Thank you!

I hope your upcoming trip is full of magic, wonder, and pixie dust!

Ah, I got teary for you as i read your last update.

I am soooo excited for you to get back home. Can't wait to read your next TR! :thumbsup2

Aww Kara  You're so cute. It was an honor to follow along on your trip report! Even though it was sad, I always looked forward to hearing about it. You truly have the ability to write about Disney in a way that makes it enjoyable, no matter what you were doing. I'm so sorry that you had to go through so much sadness, but I wish you only the absolute best on your trip coming up! I have a feeling that it is going to be wonderful, and I am SO incredibly excited for you! I'm really looking forward to the tweets! :goodvibes

LOL how appropriate... my Adventureland Loop music is playing in the background right now and you have a picture of the beloved Adventureland sign. Perfect!

I wonder if that little apartment looking building actually has rooms in it! It's really pretty!

My favorite combo for dole whips is the vanilla and pineapple. The sweet balances out the acid. :thumbsup2

LOL "a whiff of the Stamos." :rotfl:

AWWW that was a beautiful ending. You have NO idea how happy I am for you! Let the happiness and fun times begin! Don't let anything get you down - you are starting fresh on this trip and you are going to have an AMAZING time! :wizard:
Thanks, Jess! I'm glad I was still able to make the trip report enjoyable even though the trip itself was rough. I will try my very best to document every single moment of this next trip with hilarious tweets.

Perfect. I love the Adventureland loop. It makes me wanna dance.

See, I'm not a huge pineapple fan, so I was hoping the orange would mask the pineapple a bit like it does in smoothies and stuff, but it didn't really work lol.

Thanks again! I sure hope I have an amazing time! I need it.
Believe me, it's been a pleasure to read about your trip and I feel like it was really brave of your to share it for all it was and was not. Your next trip will be epic JUST BECAUSE.

Is it weird that I immediately heard the Adventureland area music when I saw the picture of the bridge. Good grief. It wasn't even on purpose. It was just suddenly in my head.

Some of the songs they play in the Move It Shake It is annoying (ugh, Hannah Montana, I still don't know why it exists) but I love the hats and accessories the characters wear. I'm in love with Minnie's bow! It's too cute!

Happiness is just around the corner! :wizard:
Thank you, dear! I really hope the next trip is epic. I want fun stuff to write about!

Nope, that's not weird at all. That's just how our Disney-loving brains work. :thumbsup2

Have you ever seen the Magical Ribbons store on tumblr? She makes a Move It! Shake It! bow that looks just like the one Minnie wears. It's absolutely adorable!
Your last day was our first day in July. ;)

I loved reading along on your TR and can't wait to read along on your next one. :goodvibes
Thank you so much! :goodvibes
Kara, my dear, you were such a trooper with this whole trip report. I'm really very proud of you. I can't wait for you to go in like LESS THAN TWO WEEKS and get your ROTCOMS on. :lmao:

And yes, ice cream is acceptable at any time of day.

Love the Stamos whiff. <3
I can't wait to get my ROTCOMS on! I'll make sure to pack extra bandages because, while fun, rolling on concrete will probably tear my legs to shreds. ;)

Someone needs to invent breakfast ice cream. Like, waffle flavored or something. With chunks of fresh fruit and maple syrup drizzled over top. Mmmmm.

Thanks Lia! I <3 you, too! I know what you mean about not wanting to relive the negativity, but feeling like you should. I think it's definitely important for people to understand that WDW vacations aren't always 100% perfect. WDW isn't immune from the goings on of the real world. Bad stuff can happen there too. No one wants it to, of course, and more often than not, it doesn't, but it can. Plus, even if I wanted to try and "pixie dust" the heck outta the trip to make it sound more fun, I doubt I would've been able to. This will forever be the trip during which my dog died and no amount of pixie dust and positive thinking can change that.

Of course I'll share. I don't quite know what the interior's like, but if there's a second bedroom, it's yours. Or we could just get bunkbeds or something. ;)

Thank god I'm not the only one. I really want to like Dole Whips because everyone raves about them and I feel like I'm missing out, but I just don't like 'em that much. I'd rather just have regular ice cream on Main Street.
Sad the trip is over! I've enjoyed your pictures :thumbsup2
Thank you!

Thank you! I am so happy that I get to go back to WDW so soon, too! I'll be there next week! Crazy.

Living in the Cinderella Caste suite would be AMAZING. Heck, spending a night in the Cinderella Castle suite would be AMAZING. :rotfl:

Those days are gonna fly by! You'll be chowing down on a Dole Whip real soon!
I love this. I hope you have a fabulous trip. Thank you for being so honest in your TR...I really enjoyed it! :goodvibes
Thank you so much! I will definitely try to have as fabulous a trip as I can.

Aw, thanks so much! I can't wait to start working on the next TR.

Have you ever seen the Magical Ribbons store on tumblr? She makes a Move It! Shake It! bow that looks just like the one Minnie wears. It's absolutely adorable!

I have seen the tumblr, but I have NOT seen that bow. Omg, how adorable! I'm gonna need to look for that...

THE ONE-POST PTR!!!
As promised (Did I actually promise? I can't remember...) here's a little rundown of our trip plans.

On Saturday (Yes, this Saturday. June 30th. Tomorrow. :yay:), we're leaving for Florida! As usual, we're driving down, so YAY ROADTRIPS! We're splitting the drive over two days, so we'll be arriving in FL on Sunday. Then, as we've done almost every summer since I was born, we're staying with my grandmother for a bit. We don't really have any specific plans for the first leg of our trip, but my grandma's a bit of a cool grandma, so I can guarantee there will be hijinks and hilarity. My birthday is on the 5th, so we'll probably do something special for that. Actually, everyone else will be celebrating while I mope around because I'm SOOOO OLD (22). :upsidedow

But I won't be moping for too long because WE'RE OFF TO DISNEY WORLD THE NEXT MORNING!!!! :mickeyjum

We're staying at Port Orleans French Quarter from the 6th to the 13th. We have a rough plan for the first few days of the trip, but other than 3 ADRs and the fact that we're getting 8 Day Park Hoppers with Water Parks Fun and More or whatever it's called, I really don't have any definite plans to share. It'll be our first ever time trying the water parks, so that's fun. And our 3 ADRs are at Sci-Fi, Via Napoli, and, the greatest restaurant in the world, 'Ohana. THREE SKEWERS OF GRILLED MEATS ALL FOR ME, PLEASE. The rest of our meals will be of the 'whatever the heck we're craving at the time' variety.

So, um, that's basically it. It's super lame, I know, but there really aren't any elaborate plans to share. I mean, I could map out exactly how I plan to consume as many Mickey Rice Krispy Treats as possible, but who really wants to read that? You'll just have to settle for minimal details until I've returned from this minimally planned trip. If you're desperate for spoilers, you can follow along on Twitter. I'll try to bring the funny in my tweets. Maybe I'll even tweet a terrible cell phone pic or two. I know you're all just dying to see the Castle through the lens (if you can even call it that) of my dinosaur of a phone. :thumbsup2

Anyway, thanks again for sticking with me through all of this. It's been a rough year and I'm excited to finally put it all behind me. And I can't wait to come back and share all of our new Disney memories with you! Well, I can wait because starting a new trip report means this trip is over and I won't be back in WDW for a while, but you know what I mean. ;)

Hey Kara, I know I haven't commented in a while, but I've been reading! I know what a tough trip this was for you, and how weird it must have been to continue trying to have fun while mourning your poor dog. I'm so happy that you are going back so soon, I hope this is the best trip ever to make up for your last trip! :goodvibes

I can't wait to hear what you thought of POFQ, I'm thinking of staying there in November! And yay, 'Ohana! If I could just eat at 'Ohana and Le Cellier every other day on a Disney trip, life would be pretty perfect! :)

Have a magical trip, and I'm looking forward to your next TR! :goodvibes

I just wanted to say have a magical trip!

I know this trip will make up for last year’s.

I can’t wait to hear all about it!

I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE LEAVING TOMORROW  Even though you won't be in Disney for a few days... EEEEEEEP! I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU!

I just wanted to thank you again for writing this trip report. It may have been difficult to write, but I hope that it benefitted you. It was probably good to just get it all out so you don't have it bottled up inside of you. Now you can just take a deep breath and dive into this new adventure! WOOHOO  DISNEY, HERE YOU COME!

I like how your trip is barely planned! That's awesome. I hope you get to eat at a lot of fun places. Make sure you take food pictures!

YAYAYAYAY have fun watching Stacey, eating big skewers of meet, soaking up the atmosphere (and ROTCOMS-ing) on Main Street, living at French Quarter, going to the Water Parks, and EVERYTHING on your next trip! I can't wait for these tweets!

Have a magical time, my friend. :wizard:

Have a safe trip!

The weather is gorgeous this week! It's hot, but since Debby moved through, there hasn't been any rain. The mornings and evenings have been the kind that remind us why we moved to Florida. Enjoy!

AHHHH TOMORROW!!!! I can't believe it! It feels like we've all been counting down to your trip forever! This is way too exciting. You're gonna have an amazing trip, I just know it. I'll be excited to read all your tweets and probably respond to them to the point where it becomes obnoxious! :upsidedow

As I've said to you many many times, I could not be more excited for you! No one deserves a trip more!

It's good to hear you guys are taking it easy on the plans/ADRs. It's fun to not know exactly where you'll be or what you're doing. My mom and I end up doing a 180 from whatever I planned most of the time and I love it.

I expect Twitter updates every 45 seconds btw, but that's obvious.

I hope your upcoming trip is completely delightful (that's mine and my sister's favorite adjective to use for Disney)! I'm looking forward to your next TR, you're hilarious.

I wanna follow you on twitter. What is your twitter name?? Mine is cuatdisney.

Awwww... over already? :( Well, like they say, all good things must come to an end, so I'll just finish this comment then lol...

Haha @ your little anklet circle of life analogy. Fads, don't you just love 'em? ;) And yeah, I agree about the new bridge. I mean, it doesn't look awful, but I just miss the old one. Though I think after seeing so many pictures of the new one I've slowly grown to love the new one. Probably because of some Disney persuasive magic or something? :teeth:

Love all the random pictures around Adventureland! The little house things you wish to stay in look a lot like the Beach Club to me. Hmmm... I wonder if there's some connecting line or something between the architecture of those two buildings. Hmmm... :thumbsup2 to the Dole Whip Float! It looks really good even though the Pineapple is kind of a turn-off for me (the only food I will say that disgusts me, ECK!) Anyways... They still play Pumping Up The Party during the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! Parade! Uggghhh... why can't they just let Hannah Montana slowly crumble under the pressures of all the Miley Cyrus haters out there, please that song got old REAL fast, but I do enjoy the Newsies reference/lyric apparently in the parade (:

Leaving Disney... never fun, but at least you got through it better because I'm not sure I would like to see pictures of temper tantrums. I enjoy the Grand Flo and the Seven Seas Lagoon a lot better. Sorry you didn't get to see the Space Shuttle launch though :/

Wow, that is a lot of stuff in one small trunk! Now I understand why most DISers take the long drive to Disney. I wish I was able to buy that much stuff whilst in my favorite place. Well, I'm glad to hear this trip was still successful and fun even with your dogs passing :sad2: I hope you are having a much better time this time around. Can't wait to read all about that one! :mickeyjum
