I Knew There Was A Reason Why I've Always Hated My Birthday - COMPLETE

Okay first off.... BAHAHAHAHAHA muppet chickens. :rotfl2:
And don't worry.... sometimes I sleep in till 10 when I'm in Disney :scared1: But only on family vacations haha. Kristen doesn't let me sleep past 7. :rotfl:
Thank you for all of the Ranchos pictures! I only saw Casitas when I was there and this is like a whole new view of the resort!
Oh Avatar. I don't know how I feel about that whole thing. But LOL the blue man group. :lmao: But really. They are.
LOL the dying dinosaurs. So attractive.
My freshman year when I went to Disney with my friend Jessie, we DEFINITELY quoted Stacey's "LOOK AT THOSE CHOMPAS!" line on our video while we were in Dinosaur. So classic. I miss that version of Stace.
Speaking of Stacey, Nat went to Disney with her family and she just texted me "I'M WATCHING STACEY!!" and I got really excited.
Oh Seeker. "YOU'RE NOT GONNA MAKE IT, YOU'RE NOT GONNA MAKE IT!" :sad2: hahaha thanks but we made it.. with NO THANKS TO YOU!

Anyways.... wonderful update :goodvibes You always update when I'm having a bad day and then my day instantly gets better. GOOD JOB! :thumbsup2

It’s an AMERICAN crocodile. That means it’s the best, most awesome kind of crocodile. I’m assuming his name is Gary and he enjoys NASCAR, cheap beer, and ‘You Might Be a Redneck If’ jokes. I’m also assuming he has a hunting license and is one KFC Double Down away from a heart attack.

U-S-A! U-S-A!

OMG ..... this had me laughing out LOUD !! :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2: Sadly, I know several people like this. I DO live in South Carolina !! So funny, girl !!

Okay, if I heard the Muppet chickens singing early in the morning, I would be weirded out too and wondering what was wrong. I fell asleep with the TV on during my February trip, and woke up to Heidi yelling at Spencer, and I wondered what on earth I was doing on the Hills....

I LOVED Carmen San Diego. I wanted to be on that show so badly. Never happened, sadly...

I've always loved your updates to your reports, you have a unique sense of humor that I just love.

But the American Crocodile bit? I was cracking up so much that my husband asked me what was so funny

And I :lovestruc Carmen Sandiego. I always wanted to be on that show!
Aw, thank you! :goodvibes

Me too! I heard a rumor that Hollywood's thinking about making a new movie staring Jennifer Lopez as Carmen Sandiego. I don't know how I feel about it. I guess I'm really just afraid they'll ask Justin Bieber to re-record the theme song or something. :sad2:

It was seriously one of the most surreal moments of my life. I couldn't see the TV because of how I was positioned and all I heard were chickens going "bawk bawk bawk bawk" to the tune of Forget You. I thought I had finally lost it.

It felt weird to not be at the park for Rope Drop. And *SPOILER ALERT* I missed every single one of them! This was easily the weirdest WDW vacation I've ever experienced for both good and bad reasons...

I have pictures of the Cabanas too so you'll be getting the full CSR experience by the time I finish this TR. :thumbsup2

"LOOK AT THOSE CHOMPAS!!!" is probably my most quoted Stacey line along with some variation of "WE'RE GONNA RIDE THIS PUPPY!!!"

I'm sorry you had a bad day, but I'm glad my TR could make it a little brighter.
OMG ..... this had me laughing out LOUD !! :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2: Sadly, I know several people like this. I DO live in South Carolina !! So funny, girl !!
I don't live in the south, but I also know several people like that. I guess you can find those patriots everywhere.

Did you feel the sudden urge to leap out of bed and give the camera a dramatic look while the "We're cutting to commercial now" music plays? LOL

I miss Laguna Beach/The Hills.

They really need to bring all of the awesome 80s/90s kids game shows back and let all of us "grown-ups" participate. I would cut off my left arm to be on Legends of the Hidden Temple. Except I'd need it to put the Silver Monkey together so maybe I should re-think that....

Coronado Springs is beautiful! Oh you're so right. I go CRAZY for a good abundance of cacti. I feel like I would get stuck in the 'snake' building too.

OH EVEREST. :lovestruc Love it so much.
Are Katie and Wade the ones in the front seat? I seriously can't tell.

Ugh... the Avatar thing. They better not add them to the entrance sign. They're way too creepy looking for that. I actually did see the movie but I was not a fan and am not crazy about the expansion idea. It just seems to steer to far from Disney-ness.

The AMERICAN crocodile. Of course they're the best. What a fitting description. Ugh... those double down things look sickening. Blehh.

I can't handle Dinosaur. The ONE time I rode it I had a really nice view... of my chest.

What a wonderful new friend... what is his name? I bet it's something WINNING. :thumbsup2

It's okay...once in a while that IS allowed.

Although it is true I never let Jess sleep past 7.

Hehee.

I didn't even know that existed!! WHY are the Muppets so brilliant?!?

Ahh Coronado is so pretty! I miss it. I WANT TO GO TO DISNEY NOW.

Okay, I'm sorry I'm just going through withdrawl.

Blue Man Group, definitely. But if they add an avatar guy to that sign then I am boycotting my annual RAWR picture in front of it.

That'll show 'em.

It probably was his real birthday. Disney wouldn't wanna make you feel like an idiot. They're generally very kind and sincere. :)

Ahh I just can't handle them in large quantities. The flags, the matching shirts, the screaming. -shudders-

Celebrate America. Gotta love it.

BAHAHAH Dora. AMEN!

Ew drool is gross. :P haha

Ahh Stace. :worship:

I totally get that! You just feel the adrenaline and the energy on that ride! I love it I love it.

Aw you and your new friend. How precious.

Haha the "Get at my level" dino. My fave. :thumbsup2

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has 'Oh. The snake building. Great.' kind of luck. The building itself was really pretty though and we didn't encounter any real snakes (THANK GOD) so it turned out OK.

Katie and Wade are toward the middle. She's wearing a white tanktop and he's wearing a blue shirt and is bent down kinda awkwardly.

I'm not thrilled about the Avatar thing either. I mean, maybe it'll turn out really cool and we'll be all "OH MY GOSH THIS WAS THE GREATEST IDEA EVER" but right now I'm just giving Disney my 'REALLY?' face.

See, the thing I don't understand about double downs is who wants a sandwich without a bun? Pieces of chicken are not adequate bun replacements. Chicken goes between the bun. I don't know what progressive sandwich philosophy these KFC hippies are trying to push on us, but it's not a sandwich without a bun. Period.

:rotfl: I pulled a muscle in my neck one time because I was curled up in such an awkward position. I don't know why I keep riding Dinosaur. I hate it. But I also love it. Except for Seeker. I hate him.

I think it's from the new movie. After they finished singing, the movie trailer announcer guy said something about it. We'll have to see...

I want to go to Disney now too!!! I feel like everyone's going soon and I was supposed to be going on Saturday but we had to cancel and now I'm not going back until the summer and it's just depressing. :sad1:

That's true. Disney wouldn't want to make me feel like an idiot. I make myself feel like an idiot. :rotfl:

After Kim Kardashian filed divorce papers, I read a joke about how her marriage was shorter than the pause after Dora asks a question and I've been laughing about it ever since. It's just so true!

Drool is gross, but when it's coming out of the mouths of diseased dinosaurs, it's hilarious. I have a strange sense of humor. ;)

Oh okay! I can't wait to see that movie!!

I know I hear ya! I'm not going till next July! :scared1: Too long!

Same here. We're frumps.

I read that too! On Twitter! So funny. :P

Hahaha yes you do. I suppose that's true haha.

You're the weird one here, Kara. I listen to that version of Forget You all the time. In fact, I didn't know that there was another version by someone named Cee Lo (?) Green until I read your TR, and I think everyone else probably had the same experience.

What beautiful pictures! CSR looks very... chill. It's oh so pretty.
You're right, that walk always does seem really far. That and the one at Epcot. I swear to God the Epcot buses are located at like Typhoon Lagoon or some ish.

Aww, America. I love our country but I don't like cheap beer, redneck jokes, hunters, or NASCAR. I do, on occasion, enjoy KFC. But not the Double Down. Never, ever the Double Down. Our local KFC is actually a KFC/Taco Bell, though, so I do have an awfully good time there.

"I’m a bit perplexed by the weird flappiness going on in his bottom area" LMAO omg thank you for pointing that out.

THAT MURAL HAHAHAHHAHA you are just my favorite. I don't remember ever noticing how hilarious that is before. I'm sorry but that triceratops is killing me. He just looks like he had too much whiskey. I've seen my friends look very similar to that before.

LOOK AT THOSE CHOMPAS! Omg, speaking of the Goddess Host Stacey J. Aswad, since getting a facebook I have LIKED her page and oh my god, every day she posts these really sweet, optimistic messages about life and like, they're actually really nice but of course I laugh at them because I imagine her saying it while skipping around Epcot or something and I'm a pessimist so I'm like NO I AM NOT MARVELING IN THE JOY OF THE EVERYDAY, STACEY J ASWAD. Sigh. I love her.

I miss Carmen Sandiego! That is one of the only childhood shows I haven't dug up on the internet as an adult yet, but I really need to. Also, remember when the Today Show tried to be cool by doing "Where In The World Is Matt Lauer?" Needless to say it was not the same.

You seem to be feeling up that dinosaur. I'm not making any assumptions I'm just saying you guys look pretty comfortable.

hahaha I don't know if you remember, but I took a picture almost exactly the same as yours as that bench and put in my TR. I thought it was so awesome too!

HAPPY FOOD COMA DAY EVERYONE! I hope you're recuperating nicely after a day of deliciousness. I slept until 2. It was much needed.

Oh okay! I can't wait to see that movie!!

I know I hear ya! I'm not going till next July! :scared1: Too long!

Same here. We're frumps.

Same. Well, either June or July. We haven't settled on a date yet. I wish we would so that I can start making ADRs at exactly the 180 day mark.

:rotfl:

CSR is very chill. It's quiet. The resort was full while we were there, but we never really saw that many people out and about. Even the pool (as you will see in a coming update) wasn't that crazy. It was nice.

A KFC/Taco Bell? How do you not eat there all the time? I commend your restraint.

OMG I've never noticed it either! For some reason, my eyes landed on the cartoonishly diseased dinosaurs and it was life-changing, man. I will never be able to walk through there without laughing hysterically again.

OH MY GOD I keep forgetting to "Like" Stacey. I've been meaning to do it for months! I guess that goes to show just how often I use my Facebook. But AH, I need to go do it now. My queen deserves to be loved. :worship:

Oh, Lia, you got me. I guess now's the time to announce that I am with (dinosaur) child. I'm not entirely sure how long the dino gestation process lasts, so it could be popping out any day now. My dinosaur friend and I have yet to settle on a name, so if you have any suggestions send them our way. :thumbsup2

So I stumbled upon this channel tonight called "the hub." It's pretty awesome, they have replays of Fraggle Rock and all these game shows based on games (Family Game Night, the Game of Life, Scrabble Showdown...) So I was scrolling through and seeing what they had on tomorrow because it's my new favorite network and they have "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" on at 8am tomorrow.

I don't know if it's a new show or the old one with Rockapella. So I'm recording just in case I'm lazy tomorrow. I'll report back.

JULY 5TH PART TWO: He Kinda Looks Like My Uncle Phil
After leaving our dinosaur friends (and that jerkface Seeker) behind, we headed to the magical land of Africa.

Where there won’t be snow this Christmas. The greatest gift they’ll get this year is life.

Lia, Jess, and anyone else headed down soon, I’m gonna need you to FEEEEEED THEEEE WOOOOOORRRRRRLLLLLLLLLD (LET THEM KNOW IT’S CHRISTMASTIME). Thanks.

See, it’s Africa:
429.jpg

I have an inordinate fondness for those big block letters. I am such a nerd.

430.jpg

I love this view. I mean, you’re in Florida and it’s 90 degrees and there’s enough sweat pouring out of your body to run Splash Mountain, but there’s a freaking snow-capped mountain in the distance. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

434.jpg

The architecture back here is AMAZING. It’s so detailed. My eyes get quite the workout jumping from awesome thing to even more awesome thing. I wish I had more time to fully absorb all the little details. As you may have heard, "There's far too much to take in here. More to find than could ever be found."

435.jpg

Hey, more cacti! I guess it was just a water-conserving plant kind of day.

Here’s our destination:
437.jpg

Kilimanjaro Safari!

The posted wait time was 45 minutes, so, instead of standing in line, we grabbed FPs that would be usable in an hour and did something we’ve never done before – The Pangani Trail.

As many of you know, I’m a recent Animal Kingdom convert. We had quite the love/hate relationship for some time. I’ve always loved Festival of the Lion King and all of the rides, but I never truly enjoyed the park like some people do. It was always ridiculous hot/crowded/claustrophobia-inducing and I just wanted to go back to the resort.

That all changed in 2010.

It was like I had some sort of awakening. The gardens were 10 times as beautiful. The foliage-lined paths weren’t nearly as stifling. Primeval Whirl made me laugh harder than ever. The paper straws didn’t turn into sopping wet messes. I didn’t feel like I was standing 3 feet away from the sun. Well, I did, but I didn’t let it bother me. I met the characters in their safari garb. I noticed just how fabulous the area music is. GIRAFFES CAME RIGHT UP TO OUR SAFARI VEHICLE AND I ALMOST CRIED BECAUSE IT WAS ONE OF THE COOLEST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE.

It was perfect.

So, going into this trip, I was really excited about our day at the Animal Kingdom. I mean, two years ago, I wouldn’t have even entertained the thought of spending my birthday there. I disliked it that much. But this year, I knew I wanted to do all of the things I was too ‘Ugh, can we just go back to the hotel now?’ to experience before, so that is what we did.

439.jpg

Gorillas! Hippos! Yay!

I’m sorry to say that the first half of our journey wasn’t very well documented. I guess I was just so into the experience that I ignored my camera. Whoops.

But first, a warning:
441.jpg

There are buffalo roaming free throughout this trip report. Be careful. I wouldn’t want to lose any of you in a stampede.

First up on the trail was the Endangered Animal Rehabilitation Center. According to AllEars, the Angolan Black and White Colobus Monkey live here. I wouldn’t know because we didn’t actually see them. They were all hiding. We did hear them, though, that’s for sure. Those babies are LOUD.

Up next, we saw the Okapi. These are the giraffe relatives with zebra-striped legs you practically always see on Kilimanjaro Safari. We didn’t stay and look for long for that very reason.

We moved onto the Research Center:
442.jpg

This building is home to several smaller animals – lizards, hedgehogs, and, for fans of Kim Possible, Naked Mole Rats. Boo-yah. There were a gazillion people bunched up in front of their exhibit, though, and we didn’t feel like waiting forever, so we moved on. I was really looking forward to busting out the “Naked Mole Rap”, too. Bummer.

What is that? That freaky thing?
Yes, that’s right, it’s a Naked Mole Rat.
Come on, y’all. Let the girls sing,
Listen to the Naked Mole Rap.

Moving on…

The aviary is attached to the Research Center. I wish I could tell you more about it, but I sprinted through and waited for my family at the other end. You know me, I don’t do birds.

The hippos were up next. We couldn’t see them very well because they were sleeping towards the back of their tank, but it was still cool to see them underwater.

Hippo artwork:
443.jpg

A Hippo skull:
444.jpg

Those teeth are HUGE.

The next viewing area housed some sort of antelope that could stand on its hind legs (cool) and meerkats! Mom and I are big meerkat fans. We watched Meerkat Manor religiously and we frequently burst out into that “Dig a Tunnel” song from The Lion King 1 ½.

QUICK BEFORE THE HYENNA COMMMMMMMMMMME.

Finally, the moment you’ve all been waiting for: we saw the gorillas. And we took lots of pictures. It was awesome.

We walked through the indoor viewing area first. There was only one gorilla in here and he or she was curled up in the hay.
447.jpg

It’s so fuzzy!

The “Aggression Stance” photo cracked me up:
446.jpg

We headed back outside and crossed a bridge to the outdoor viewing area:
448.jpg

As you can see, it was quite crowded and people were really loud.

Thankfully, that didn’t stop the gorillas from hanging out with us:
162.jpg

There were two. This guy was chomping away on some leaves. He was incredibly photogenic. There was another that was just chilling further into the woods. I joked that it was Big Foot. We should have taken a bunch of grainy photos and tried to sell them to the History Channel. I’m sure there will be an episode of Ancient Aliens all about how Big Foot is really the descendant of an ancient alien. I mean, we can’t prove that he isn’t so….

Anyway, here are a bunch of pictures of a gorilla eating. I’m sure y’all experienced something similar around the dinner table yesterday.

163-1.jpg

He was picking the leaves off the stem. It was rather adorable.

164.jpg

I was equal parts amazed and creeped out by just how human-like they are. I mean, I’m quite certain I make that exact face all the time.

165.jpg

Just chompin' away...

166-1.jpg

167-1.jpg

LOOK! He’s smiling! How freaking adorable is that?

168.jpg

Allow me to draw your attention to his foot. In case we ever need more proof that evolution is actually a thing, I have gorilla feet. They’re not exactly the same, of course, but when compared to other humans, I have a rather large gap separating my big toe from the rest of them. I mean, my big toe isn’t a foot-thumb like that of a gorilla, but the gap is noticeable. It creeps people out. Especially when I use my toes to grab stuff.

So, anyway…

The gorilla exhibit was beautiful. Even without the gorillas, I would have been happy to spend time taking everything in.

Being a gorilla at the Animal Kingdom really doesn’t seem like a bad gig. I know there are some strict anti-zoo people out there, but this kinda seems like paradise. Tons of food and room to move around, pretty views, no predators to worry about, and tons of stupid humans to make fun of. There’s no way real Africa is better than that. No way.

UP NEXT: We’re four-wheelin’ now, baby.

Yay we both updated on the same night!!

First of all..... LOVE the title. That just make the update x4387394857834765 times better.

Hahaha just because you asked so nicely... sure, why not? :thumbsup2 I would love to. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!

CIRCLE OF LIFE! I caught the reference. yay me. :yay:

Oh wow, that's awesome that you loved Animal Kingdom enough to go there on your birthday! That was an inspirational story.

Oh my God.... Kim Possible!!!! I used to watch that all the time. :rotfl: Why are all of the good TV shows not on anymore?! hahaha the naked mole rat rap is now stuck in my head.

You and Kristen with your bird phobia... LOL I swear it's bound to rub off on me at some point.

I need to watch Lion King 1 1/2. Oh my GOD I forgot about that movie. I used to watch it daily... back in the day when we had an awesome DVD player in our mini van. Those were the days. I also used to watch Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas, the Three Musketeers, and Aladdin on repeat. Such good times, really.

:rotfl2: I'm dying right now. YES. I'm like... it was me. hahaha just kidding. Only when the pie came around. :lmao:

That gorilla is really photogenic though! You got great pictures!

HE'S MAKING THE DEER FACE OH MY GOD!!!!!!

Wow those pictures are beautiful! I wouldn't mind being a gorilla at Animal Kingdom either! :thumbsup2

Ok so first of all, one of the many Disney-related people I follow on twitter posted a picture today of a new shirt dedicated to Seeker. You should get it since he's your BFF.

Oh no problem! I'll feed the world and let them know it's Christmas time. I was planning to anyway, so yeah.

I'm glad you love AK now! It was the first Disney park I ever visited. :lovestruc But I do STRONGLY dislike those straws... even though I know they're just being animal friendly. I mean how many of the animals that live at AK eat at Yak and Yeti? Anyways...

That gorilla is perfect. I love his facial expressions! They're seriously human-like. Although I must say that I often think my cat makes human-like facial expressions too... but that's really a different thing. :rotfl:
Seriously though, those gorillas have it made in the shade! :cool2: (I'm so glad I finally have an excuse to use that smiley.)

False alarm. It was actually "Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego" and was some stupid cartoon :sad2:

LOL, that Feed the World song...every time I hear that on the radio, I think of Pop Up Video, and how they pointed out how wrong that whole song is. Still, I like it because Bono is in it, with his crazy 80's hair. :thumbsup2

I'm with you on Animal Kingdom. I hated it until recently. Ok, hate is not the right world, I can't hate anything Disney, but I strongly disliked it, but I appreciate it now, it's really beautiful there. :lovestruc

I love your gorilla pics! I also love your evolution analysis! I agree, there's no way the real Africa is better than the Disney Africa. It's just not possible. :goodvibes

Not sure if you are a Friends fan... but can I just say that the image that came to mind when I was picturing you sprinting out of the bird exhibit was just like Phoebe when she goes running in the park with Rachel! :rotfl: It seems like an appropriate run for someone who isn't into birds going through a bird infested place :rolleyes1

OMG you updated again. When I commanded you to update at least 13 times before I left, I didn't think you would, but here we are with another update! 2 down, 11 more to go. I leave in 8 days. GO.

WOOOHOOO another shout out! I don't know about feeding the WORLD though. That's a lot of people, and I eat quite a lot myself.

Every time I see a view like that of EE I always think how weird it is that Epcot, MK, and MGM are minutes away. So many different worlds. I CAN'T BELIEVE I AM GOING IN 8 DAYS.

I love your trip report because I can always count on TV nostalgia. THE NAKED MOLE RAP!!! My friend has the Kim Possible beep as her text alert and every time I hear it I just get so happy.

OMG LMAO that first gorilla picture. He is like QUIET DOWN PLEASE I AM EATING. Uggghfhfkjsdhfsjk I love them so much.

"In case we ever need more proof that evolution is actually a thing, I have gorilla feet." HAHAHAHAHAjhskjhasdkasjh Please come with me to Disney World.

:thumbsup2
I do love inspiring people. I think my relationship with the Animal Kingdom has proven that we all can get along.

Disney really needs to take a lesson from TeenNick and start airing Kim Possible and the like on one of their zillion other channels. The Kim Possible movie was on the Disney Channel at like 3 AM last weekend and I full on freaked.

The Lion King 1 1/2 is the best because Timon and Pumbaa are the best. They need like 10 more movies.

Oh, I was totally the gorilla. I just love Thanksgiving food so much! The concept of manners goes out the window when copious amounts of turkey and stuffing are placed in front of me.

HAHAHAHAHA I didn't even notice. You guys are gonna have the whole world doing the deer face before long.

A Seeker-themed shirt? Does Disney think people are interested in buying such a thing? I wouldn't let anything referencing that jerk near my body.

Thank you! :santa:

HAHAHAHAHAHA I've got quite the mental image of giraffes, lions, zebras, etc. dining at Yak and Yeti after the park closes. I bet they're big fans of the Fried Wontons.

My dog used to make human-like expressions too. It was weird. He was quite good at expressing shame.
False alarm. It was actually "Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego" and was some stupid cartoon :sad2:
Bummer. I didn't even know there was a cartoon version.
