I am so upset right now I could just scream. I normally don't ask my DH's advice about WDW, but for some silly reason I wanted his advice for this trip. Never again!!! We normally stay at WL, we both love WL so I figured that we would stay there this trip also. Wrong, my DH said how about we try and save some money and stay at CB. I gave in and booked CB for the dates my DH wanted 9/17-9/22, and I must say that I booked this the first day free dining was offered. I don't wanna say that I am a resort snob but CB was just not doing it for me. So in the meantime my DH has been looking up airfare and for the dates we picked, it is about 300.00 per person. Lets just say I am not going to stay at a mod. hotel to try and save money and then pay soo much for air.
So after playing on the web last night with DH we decided to change our dates so we could get a cheaper airfare. It worked, the only glitch is that now we are staying at POR, and I am very happy with that, except I could kill my DH. Out of nowhere late last night he realized that WL is only about 300.00 more than POR, and said why don't you try and get us a room at WL. I could just kill him. Lets just say I know what I'll be doing everyday, I'll be calling WDW to see if there are any openings for a standard or courtyard view at WL. !!!!!!!!!!!!!:confused3 :rolleyes1

Just keep trying...something will open up. I had been trying to upgrade our Poly stay for oct to concierge and it was booked....finally last friday morning, it was open and we upgraded. Good luck!

I'm sure that it is frustrating for you. But count your blessings...

1. You have a husband.
2. He wants to stay at WL.

I think that would be cool!

Try booking a stay at WL for 10 nights. Sometimes resorts have blocks of rooms available for 10 or more nights. Once you book for 10 nights, then you can modify it back down to the number of nights you want. I wanted 5 nights at POFQ with free dining, but it wasn't available. It was available for 10 nights, so I booked it and then modified it to a 5 night stay.

Hi Neighbor,
Ok breathe in, breathe out. Repeat after me "he's a wonderful guy, most of the time, he's a wonderful guy, most of the time."
You're not a resort snob, there is nothing wrong with having a favorite resort-every one does. Don't worry you'll have a good time at POR, it may not become your favorite but you'll enjoy it.

We also love WL. It holds a special place in our hearts because we stayed there on our first family Disney trip and we've returned there a few times. However, we've also stayed at POR and CBR when funds didn't permit a deluxe resort, and we were pleasantly surprised :thumbsup2 . We've learned to appreciate the different theming and atmosphere at other resorts. In fact, January 2006, we stayed at AKL and now that resort is our family favorite :woohoo: AKL has a considerable number of activities for the whole family to enjoy.

As long as your were able to take advantage of the free dining, you're saving a bundle :goodvibes no matter where you stay!

Happy planning ;)

Thanks for all the replies, as of now I am very excited about POR, back in 2000 DH and I stayed at POFQ, Back then there was no PORS it was Dixie Landings. That was our first time at WDW and we also got engaged on that trip, so I am very excited to try a new resort I just needed to vent alittle this morning. Now I also have to get on the ball and start to make some ADR's since I changed our dates. Wish me luckpixiedust:

At least he didn't say "let's not go at all!":sad2:
I would keep trying for WL!!

For 5 nights it would be $393.75 to upgrade from standard POR to standard WL and $550 for courtyard view.

:wizard: Hope you get the resort you really want!

If you can't get WL this time you'll just have to book another trip.;)

POR is still a really nice resort and $300 is still a savings (you could buy extra souvenirs). :)

I would probably hit my DH over the head with the phone, uh, I mean hand him the phone :rolleyes1 and tell him "Here you go! Have fun calling them to try and get WL":lmao:

If you're happy with POR, you should just leave it. Good luck with the ADRS.

Oh, to have such problems. I'd be glad to be going at all. Instead, I have to wait until next year.

:::shrug::: CBR and POR are fine with me. I'd prefer to save the money for another trip.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Believe me I did wanna hit/hand him the phone:rotfl: :rotfl:
For now I am not even trying to switch to WL, just gotta get my act together for those ADR's

We also love WL, but POR is a lovely resort and is always our second choice if funds don't permit WL. Try to get a room closer to the food court -- Alligator Bayou (?) so you're closer to that and also the busses (sp?). I think it's a beautiful resort and just "different". It's still Disney.

As for being a resort snob, I have been so tempted to try a value (Pop) after reading so many folks positive thoughts of them in this forum, but just can't quite bring myself to do it.....

Have a great time!!

My favorite resort is the Poly and I loved CR too BUT I really enjoy Pop too. It's a fun place. You should try it!

I am a total resort snob (can you say expense account boys and girls ;) ) and I really enjoy POP. I went back and forth with staying at POP again in Sept. I decided on POFQ ONLY because I really want to try and this might be my mom's last trip to WDW. I know that we will all really enjoy POFQ but I also know that we all really LOVE POP as well.

OP, I personally like trying different resorts. GO and do something different. Have a nice dinner or buy some extra stuff with the amount that you would be saving. I can completely understand the frustration with your DH. When it comes to WDW, I leave absoultely NOTHING up to my DH :lmao:

Course if you kill him the trip to Disney would be off. :lmao: If you can change it, great. If not, it will still be a trip to Disney. Though he does owe you big time. Mention that something special you've always wanted to do while at Disney. Heck, even leave him the info so he could make all the arrangements. Hey, it's better than killing him or smacking him with the phone. It's a win-win situation.

I say good for you... my DH desrves a few slaps sometimes. He will only stay at the POly. Has fun when were there but for the year before we go while I plan he just complains about our "very expensive vacation". Be gald your going and glad you got FD. I missed out on that one so I chose to keep dining and pay OOP. STAYING AT THE POLY AUGUST 19-27. No matter what the cost or where you stay its Dsney and its magic. Have a blast...we will.

If it helps, WL is my favorite but POR is a close second. So even if you don't get WL, you should still have a great time at POR. And the bottom line is, you'll be in DISNEYWORLD! :cool1:
