I Kicked it I Played it and now..Wheeling & Dealing at the WL final 9/9 p87/88

I love love LOVE your balloon pictures, they are very pretty. Good job!! :goodvibes

It always creeps me out when they have to close the pool.

Thanks LL. First good balloon pictures I have ever taken.

I hear you on the pool closure!

More beautiful pictures!

Thanks! :flower3:

Sounds like a trip to my liquor store is in my near future! :rolleyes1 I was looking for something different this summer for drinking around the pool; last summer was the bucket of margarita mix, but this sounds good!

tell me what you think. I'd be surprised if you don't like it!

Is the time different for "unformed" fecal matter??? :confused3 :lmao:

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww! :sad2::scared::sick: Now that is just a nasty thought.

Oh, how I adore your balloon shots, Mary Ellen! They are just fantastic!

Thanks! :)

I also really like your photos of the attraction posters! I always wish I could have those in my home!

Aren't they cool? I wish I had photographed all of them and I wish I had them at home, too. I would love a Disney room!

Your pool drink sounds lovely -- I may have to look for some of that UV blue when I am at the store next time -- our pool opens Friday, and I may be bringing something along to celebrate! ;)

Try it....you'll like it. Let me know what you think!

Finally wandered overe here and caught up.
Sounds like a blast so far.
And I like the pics of the MK attraction posters.
So where you off to next?

For those of you who have never had it, UV blue is actually a raspberry flavored vodka. It mixes really well with lemonade....3 parts lemonade....1 part UV blue. (Or for hard core lushes - 2 parts lemonade.... 1 part UV).

I have this drink a lot in the summertime - it's great when sitting by the pool, I mix mine with pink lemonade, so that it doesn't resemble toilet bowl cleaner :thumbsup2

I love the balloon pics! I never think of taking pictures of balloons! Next time! I never take creative pictures, I just take boring pictures of what everyone else takes! Next time I'm going to have to experiment a little more! :cool1:

And that blue vodka drink sounds good, except I don't think I could mix vodka and lemonade! Maybe Sprite would be good! :)

Love the pics!! the balloons are fab, the posters are way cool, the flowers and everything else is magical!!

Hum, i'm with the others, i see a trip to the Liquor store for me to try that. I also love Midori but haven't had it in a long time. May have to get adventurous this summer and try some things out.

Hey Mr Capell.....:welcome: Thanks for stopping over! We are off to Epcot for dinner and then we will be returning to Epcot in the am!

Pink Lemonade! I never thought of that!

I'll have to try that for a different color combo!

I've gotten better at taking creative pictures from seeing all the pictures that Disers take. It's made me look at things with a different eye. Now I feel like there are millions are great photo ops around every corner.

Hmmmmm...Sprite and UV blue ....that would work!

Thanks Tinks. Glad you like the pics!

I would like everyone to report back on how they like the UV blue. All creative cocktail recipes should be included!

I am so glad to hear SM is smoother now- I always felt like that ride was one bolt away from fallin' apart!! We never rode it that night- three of us felt SO FULL from the rich, rich food at Narcoossee's, I think we would have caused an explosion if we had gotten on. :scared1: :rotfl: So my first ride on the NEW! AND IMPROVED! Space Mountain will have to wait for MNSSHP in October with my boys...Pods & I probably won't make it there when we go in Sept, but...ya never know!

Your photos are GORGEOUS!! So glad you had fun playing with your camera! I have yet to do that when I'm in WDW- run around with the BIG camera and really take pictures! i will most likely be able to when I go in Sept. And can't wait to look for that vodka- sounds great!! I love infused vodka- I make mean Grapetinis with the grape one (that taste like grape popsicles- yummmmm) and ruby red absolute is :worship: :worship: :worship: for lots of concoctions. I use blueberry in Pama Sutras...funny, all my drinks come from vacations! :rotfl: Grapetinis from our friend's beach house in Conn, ruby reds and pama sutras from our trips to STJ, jalepeno ritas from the Ditch, blood orange ritas from Reds in NYC (I like their's better than the Ditch's)....ok, enough alcohol- it's only 8 am!! :rotfl:

Give me a call Friday morning when you're on your way- how long are you stopping? Trying to pick a place for lunch, but one that doesn't take too long- sound about right?

Hey Ellen -

I think I needed to ride it a few more times to figure out the nuances. But I did like it. And I agree - it DID feel like it was falling apart. It doesn't feel that way anymore. I didn't hear any screams, which I thought was a bit strange. I'm glad you get to ride it with your boys for the first time.

I have to try a jalepeno rita. They sound really good! I'm gonna get to the Ditch in September. I never made it there during this trip. I'll explain soon. Those grapetinis sound really good. You are giving me some great ideas for my OBX trip.

I am going to text you tomorrow to let you know how my departure time looks. My dad is in the hospital, so I am going to see him tomorrow. He's in Philly, so I'm taking the day off. I hope to spend the day there, so hopefully I will get everything done tomorrow night and still have an am departure.

Wow Ellen sure has a lot of cocktail making experience!! Must be all of those drink flights she takes :rotfl2:
Since you are on the subject of vodka....as far as the flavored ones go I adore Three Olives grape. YUM!! Perfect with sprite....tastes like grape koolaid.....and we all know that DVC members are known for drinking koolaid :rotfl:
OH MY GOSH I LOVE YOUR BALLOON PICTURES!!!!! They are awesome...you need to print them and put them in a frame....will make you smile every time you see it! :goodvibes
Hope your father is doing well

Oh and elwwwwww to the pool bio break :scared1: And I can't (yes I can) believer that Shocker found that chart!!!

I am watching American Idol now. I wonder who is going to win?????? I really think Crystal out performed Lee last night, but its anybody's win! I will be disappointed if a boy wins AGAIN this year, but I definitely think more girls vote for the male contestants. Well....by the time you read this the winner will have been announced. All I can say is that Carrie Underwood is the best idol winner ever. She is beautiful, her clothes are great, and she has really become a great performer. She was the best guest performance tonight.

Oh, well, I digress! Back to my TR.......

When I left off we had just gotten back to the villa after a lovely afternoon at the pool. As is tradition, I tried out the whirlpool tub. While the bathroom was not as cool as Kidani's, I still really enjoyed that relaxing soak. I figured we had plenty of time to get to our 7:25pm ADR, but as it turns out we barely made it there in time. Before we left the villa I got this brilliant idea. I decided that it might be a good idea to enter the World showcase through Christine's private entrance. That would mean parking at the Beach Club. I have never lied before when parking at a Disney resort. I've always had an ADR. But tonight I decided to stretch the truth a bit. I told Chuck to tell the guard that we were going to Beaches & Cream. It wasn't exactly a lie. We might have been going there, if we weren't going to R&C. :rolleyes1 Of course, when we got the guard Chuck announced, "We are going to Peaches & Cream". "Beaches, Chuck, beaches...", I whispered.

Phew...past the guard and into the parking lot. We powered walk through the beach club lobby and out to the sidewalk. I barely remember passing through the lobby, but I thought it would be cool to show Chuck and Cathy different resorts and you know I  the BC.

Before I knew it, we were through Christine's private entrance and on line to check in for R&C. There was a fairly decent check-in line and they were taking walk-ups. I asked for a seat on the back porch ("if at all possible".) The hostess reminded me that it was only a request and requests could not always be granted. No worries, I assured her. Then we went to wait along the water. I love how R&C has so many tables right outside the restaurant. With time to kill, I went to work taking pictures.....

Well - I interrupt this TR to report that, as I feared, Lee won! Not that I don't think Lee was good, but this is the third year in a row that a boy has won. I really wanted Crystal. I am bummed. I think I need to stop watching AI for a while!

Back to my regularly scheduled TR......There was a whole family (or two) of these little fellows.....

After about 15 minutes I turned around and didn't see Denny. I asked Chuck were he went. Chuck replied, "He went to check on our table. Other people that checked in after us have already been seated".

DOH!!!!!! Chuck and Denny ....did I NOT say we were requesting to sit OUTSIDE? Denny came back a few moments later and informed us that we could be seated immediately if we wanted to eat inside.

DOUBLE DOH!!!!!! How many times did I tell Denny...."We are eating at R&C on Monday night. We are going to ask for a patio table and watch Illuminations". Clearly I must have been talking into thin air when I made this announcement.

Chuck was actually ready to head to hostess for that indoor table, but I persuaded him to wait a few more minutes. "It will be worth it. I promise".

Not 5 minutes later we were being escorted to our patio seat. Not only were we on the patio, but we were dead center, 2nd level. Our waiter informed us the we had the BEST location for viewing Illuminations. SCORE!

This was my first time eating at R&C and I have heard mixed reviews about the food. It seems that a lot of people don't love this place. I think that's why it took me so long to make an ADR here. Well let me tell you - I LOVED IT! Our food was great, our waiter was great, and the ambience.....priceless.

So what was on the menu.....

Well, first it was drinks all around. I will admit, I really wanted to try that Welsh Dragon, but I was afraid it would kill my appetite. Denny informed me that they had Boddington's. I love Boddingtons. It is my all time favorite beer. So i ditched the Welsh Dragon for the Boddingtons in the souvenier glass.

IMG_3257JPG.jpg

My entree was the surf and turf and it was excellent. The fish was moist and flaky and the batter was a perfect consistency. The turf was also moist and flavor full. It was was entree that I could have easily shared with someone. It was a lot of food.

IMG_3258JPG.jpg

Surf and Turf - Grilled Steak and Fried Fish with Yorkshire Pudding, Irish Potato Gratin, seasonal Vegetables, and Shallot Gravy $24.99

IMG_3260JPG.jpg

This entree was Denny's seafood stew. I did not find a description for it in Allearsnet.com, but he said it was delicious and comprised of nice sized chunks of seafood and fish.

IMG_3259JPG.jpg

I'm not sure who had this, but it looks like a Shepherd's pie. This may have been Cathy's. I know that either Cathy or Chuck got the surf & turf.

I did not take pictures of dessert because it was actually served after Illuminations. But here is the menu and I had the Lemon Pie which was light, fluffy, and tasty. A good choice because I was stuffed.

Chocolate Scotch Cake - with Chocolate Filling and Scotch Ganache served with Creme Anglaise $5.99

Lemon Pie $5.49

Bakewell Tart $5.49

No Sugar Added Fruit Trifle $5.49

Sticky Toffee Pudding $4.99

Our waiter was superb. His name was John and he kept complaining about how hot he was. And it was really humid. I have had cooler evenings in June and August. It was one of those night where each strand of my hair did a 360 and no flat iron in the world had the strength to tame it. I didn't mind the John hated the heat. His service was perfect and he took our dishes away before Illuminations, gave us dessert menus, and waited until the show was over to take our order.

Disclaimer....I did not bring my tripod, so my pics aren't the best. I kept trying to balance my camera on the fence post, but it didn't work as well as the tripod. Despite the fact that the umbrellas were down, it was still pretty difficult to keep it out of the pictures. So here's what I got.....

Since Denny was on the other side of the table, I asked him to try to take some pictures from the "other side" of the umbrella. Here's what he got......

IMG_3295JPG.jpg

That's right. Every picture he took looked like that!!!!!! What the........? Oh well. He tried.

After Illuminations, dessert was served and we waddled away back to C's entrance and the beach club.

I'm going to break here cause this update took me longer than I thought (cause my pics are so out of order in photobucket), but I will return with a few more pictures from Day 2. Cathy and I did a little exploring around the Beach & Yacht Club.

So...up next.... A quiet tour of the Beach Club and Day 3.....Return of the Evil D!

Finally caught up.

How great that you got the "best" seats to watch illuminations. I hope Chuck thought it was worth the wait.

Your pictures are awesome. If this is just the beginning of you learning how to use your new camera I can't imagine what your pics will look like on your next trip. Which is when by the way? Did I miss that piece of information? You did say you were always planning your next trip.

She sure does, doesn't she. I am getting all kinds of great drink ideas from this TR. I am going to have to make a recipe book. Too bad my OBX traveling companions are not big drinkers. Oh - well - that could change over the week.;)
:rotfl2: to the DVC members drinking koolaid....now thats the truth.

OH MY GOSH I LOVE YOUR BALLOON PICTURES!!!!! They are awesome...you need to print them and put them in a frame....will make you smile every time you see it! :goodvibes
Hope your father is doing well

I still have a frame that I bought years ago which accepts multiple pictures. It's Disney themed. I think I need to get to work with my new pictures and my FP pics.

Thanks for the hug for dad!

Oh and elwwwwww to the pool bio break :scared1: And I can't (yes I can) believer that Shocker found that chart!!!

Tracy

Leave it to shocker to find that. I am certainly gonna miss him and Wigd when they leave this weekend!

Oh, Denny! Between almost getting you a table inside and his Illuminations pictures I am :rotfl:. I'm so glad you liked R&C. I really liked it too. Last time I left my souvenir cup on the table :headache: so I need a do-over.

Those seats were great and I think chuck did appreciate them once the food arrived! LOL!

Glad you like the pictures. I still have a long way to go in learning to use it correctly, but it is so much better than my old camera. I go back and look at some of those pics and cringe!

Oh C......It only got WORSE as the week went on. It's like he put his "airhead" cap on and never took it off. I'm really not making fun of him, rather I was starting to get concerned - like it was early Altzheimer's or something.

I really did love R&C. I would go there again in a heart beat. I almost left my cup on the table, too! I bet half the people who buy them, leave them. The CM's must each have their own personal collection. So - YES - you need a do-over!

Another great update! How awesome that you had such a perfect seat for Illuminations! Your pictures are wonderful but lack the simplicity of Denny's

As for AI...IMO..it's a popularity contest and I think although Crystal outperformed Lee, he was more likeable.

Oh Denny :lmao:

Sounds like a lovely evening. We waited a long time for our table at R&C and I'm glad we did for the view but we ended up with a very unfortunate timing for the arrival of our food :sad2:
