Apparently he was portrayed as a soldier and hero fighting for Americas cause but after his mother was interviewed it has been brought to light that he informed her that he thought the war was illegal and he hated being involved in it what a shock especially after all teh immediate reports about him and his involvement kinda makes you think doesn't it. This was just reported on The Score in Canada.

I wonder if this is something she is saying because he was killed in the line of duty? Maybe shes hurt? upset.. feels betrayed?? Just a thought..

add that to the fact that he was killed by friendly fire, members of his own unit to boot makes the whole thing just very said.

Didn't he leave the NFL after 9/11 to serve? I'm surprised that he was against being part of it. No matter his feeling he still went, did his duty and gave his life. Hero enough for me.

That was one big run-on sentence. Do you have a link?
Robin M.

If the show has a link to the story it would be on www.thescore.ca but they don't often post that stuff just box scores and the like. You are free to look for it as I haven't looked I just saw it on the show tonight. Apparently he told her how he felt or so it was reported anyway.

He did not think the war in Afghanistan was illegal, rather the Iraq war.

I've heard that the DoD lied about what really happened/twisted the events to make him look more like a hero. America love heros and heros can lead to more people supporting the war.

Don't know if it's true or not, but I remember hearing that somewhere.

Whatever the case, I don't trust the DoD. The fact that they fail to just TELL the family what happened is ridiculous!

I don't like all this blackened out stuff...how is one soldier's death have that much "confidential" information??

Exactly F4L11 why couldn't they tell his family or the rest of the country did they figure it would hurt them even more? Regardless of the politics in it the family has a right to know what happened to their son and loved one witout all the blacked out portions of the documents it makes it look even more like they are hiding something and that isn't right the family should know exactly what happened no matter who hangs for it so to speak.

haven't the blacked out portions come to light? Weren't they hiding that he was killed by his own unit not the enemy.

They blacked it out because it made the military look incompetent not to protect Tillman or his family.

Wasn't his brother in the same unit. So his family would have known the truth w/or w/out the official documents.

Not according to his family or the press release there are other things apparently blacked out but does anyone really know what they are covering up or not telling his family I guess no one will know for sure.
