I know that it's not a big deal overall, but for me, it's very disappointing right now. I have planned my buns off. I have checked and rechecked everything at least twice. I decided to confirm some information on www.odpt.com which is the official Disney Pin Trading website. So, I went to a pin trading message board and found out that there is some bad information on ODPT. I want to see Scoop Sanderson's Pin Trader Talk. The site says that he does these talks Sunday through Wednesday at 1pm at the MK park. Ok, well, I chose to do it on Tuesday, 12/13 because it's a good day to tour MK. According to my unofficial sources who are in the know and quite reliable, Scoop will not be appearing on Tuesdays until after the holidays. This is a big disappointment. I had hopes of being awarded the Continuing The Tradition pin, which is awarded to those that promote and positively represent pin trading. After all the work that I have done over the last couple of years with collecting pins and lanyards for the kids going to WDW through the charity listed in my sig, I thought for sure that I had a good chance at being honored with that pin. To me, it's a big deal.

With the itinerary that I have planned with all the ADR's and stuff, it's next to impossible to change things around to allow us to attend the Pin Trader Talk on Monday or Wednesday. I am so mega bummed.

I'm so sorry you're disappointed. Please take a close look at your itinerary and see if you can't make it on Mon or Wed. It sounds like meeting him and having a chance at that coveted pin is more important to you than perhaps an ADR. I love Bert in the am. Those 4 are nuts and totally keep me awake. It is such a great charity! As a mom of 2 special needs kids, I know what a wonderful life-changing trip Bert provides for these families.

Hi Maggie! I readily admit I've never heard of a pin trader talk (just got into collecting pins this past trip), but from the way you sounded, I'd suggest going one of the days he is there. Even if you don't get to WDW often (like myself), the chances are the restaurant(s) you want to eat at will be there next time, waiting for you, whereas you could get a pin that clearly would mean a lot to you. Just my 2 cents, but I hope things work out for you.

Maggie, as said in "Alice" and what has to be your experience in the wonderful work you are doing .... nothing is impossible.

My gut reaction is that you would not have posted an emotional post like this one if you were unable to get an ADR at (Sci-Fi, Coral Reef, CRT, doesn't matter just fill in the blank). And you know what? I love food almost to obsession (I'm a chef) but it is just food (and forgive the immature silliness here, we all know where it ends up LOL)!

Of course you should do what's best for you and your family, but as an objective outsider I'd say: Switch your days!!!! Or park hop like a bunny!!! This event is so important to you! When you look back on your vacation, you may be hard pressed to remember what you ate but you'll always remember this event.

Please... don't give up on this!!! First... I have seen Scoop walking around on Main St (he is a character out there mingling with the crowd!) Second... my mother was awarded this pin one year ago (it'll be one year on the day before thanksgiving) and it wasn't from Scoop! There was a nice CM that my mother and I had asked to take a picture of us in front of the castle (with my camera)... after getting into a conversation with him about the pin trading event that we had attended and how much she liked to trade with people and talk with them while she did it - he awarded her that special pin...
At the time, we didn't know just how special that pin was... but I quickly learned about it after returning from the trip!!!
Good Luck and don't give up!!!

Thanks guys. I would have to do a major overhaul on our itinerary to make this happen. The flow of our itinerary as it stands is just right for us, with the exception of missing Scoop. In the light of day, it's not such a big deal, I guess. I just was really hoping to do this Pin Trader Talk again.....and of course get the coveted CTT pin. Who knows, pixie dust might happen when I least expect it. I will check at Exposition Hall that morning to see if by chance Scoop will be appearing. If he is fine, if not, it just was not meant to be. I guess this wouldn't be so hard for me to accept if I didn't know that it may take us another 2-3 years before we can return to WDW. Please don't give up. To make a long story short, we were starting our pin trading at the pin trading stop in downtown disney. Ran into a snag and to make it up to us the manager gave us a whole bunch of stuff including the continuing the tradition pin. I hope this is not frustrating to you(after reading how much this pin means to you I feel bad that we were given one), I just am letting you know that perhaps you can find this pin elsewhere if it is impossible to change your plans. You certainly sound very deserving of it.

Question-- is it possible for you to make a trip over to MK long enough to possibly get your pin and then meet up with the rest of your family/group wherever they'll be as soon as you're done? If you're staying onsite, the transportation should make it possible. Even if you miss a meal or ride or two, sounds like it'd be worth it to you. And if you all weren't getting Park Hoppers, you could get one at least. Just a thought.

Thanks for the thought, but it's just not going to fly.

On Monday, we have the only time scheduled for AK during the entire trip and we are shorting the park, because we are only giving it about 5 hours. We love AK park. We have an ADR for Kona at 10am that morning before we head to AK. The rest of the day is counter service. At AK park close, we are going over to MGM to finally see the Osborne Lights, which were not presented when we went in 2003 and are a must see.

Wednesday is one of our Epcot days. I promised Gabby that I would take her to R&C for the Potato Leek Soup and the ADR is for 12pm. I would feel like pond scum canceling it. We were lucky to get the 12pm seating as it is.

Anyway, I do appreciate your thoughts and concern, but I can and will deal. It just took me 24 hours to say that without feeling really bummed. Maggie

Oh Maggie- I'm so sorry for your disappointment. I also was going to suggest maybe you just skip out JUST for the pin trading talk and catch back up with your family. I know it doesn't always seem feasible to not only get away but to get over there quick and all that- but I actually did it once with my youngest just to go to MK to get her first haircut.
However, I see now your plans on Mon/Wed are exactly when you'd need to go to MK so it's not going to work unless you could possibly change those ADR's. I wouldn't give up just yet. Some people may cancel ADR's as they get closer to their vacation time (same as yours) and you may be able to switch later and work it out?? Here's pixie dust at you to try to help! *~*~*~*
