I just took a step to fight spam

I have been reporting spam on AOL since I upgraded to 8.0, and I noticed something--50% of it comes from yahoo.com.
So I blocked the entire domain!
First I checked and no, my closest friends do not "yahoo". So hopefully this will help me get less junk.

I noticed when I was building a filter to block some of it that everything I received from a *.yahoo address was porn/adult related. I blocked all of it.

I use SpamCop to prevent most of my spam. I also use Yahoo as well. I like Spamcop because it tracks the Spam, most of it is from Asia.

I notice that I got a lot from the UK and a lot from hotmail too!

I manage the security and abuse team for a large ISP. Most of the yahoo spam is forged, on my personal mailserver at home, I use a combination of blacklists. I have 5 users total that get mail on that machine, and last week alone I blocked 1882 spam e-mails. Unfortunately congress is not coming up with any good anti-spam bills, the latest ones are opt-out, and also takes away the states authority. Not good, since states like Virginia and soon Texas will have jail time for people who violate the anti-spam law.

When I do get spam it is either from yahoo or hotmail. I have email on both but have my filter on hotmail set to exclusive, meaning I can only receive meesages if the sender is in my address book. Occasionally I get other emails from hotmail or msn. The yahoo account only gets mail from a few friends who have not updated their address book or sometime I get a few spams - mostly porn. Everything else is I have subscription.

DH gets a ton of spam. I think it's from all the on-line game playing he does. He signs up for different programs needed to play the game and gets infiltrated.

I RP on yahoo groups and must get about 75-100 bulks a day.I also only use that account for RPG's and e-mail from DBF
