I just saw the epitome of self-centered

First I am so sorry for your loss; my thoughts are with you

I really can't imagine ANYONE bringing something up like that at such a time, other than maybe that they really don't know HOW to express grief, and were thinking that maybe they were distracting you from your own. Though how one can think to say such things at such a time... I just can't understand. :sad2:

I am so sorry for your loss.

And yes, if she is like this normally, I would have a hard time continuing the friendship.

So sorry for the loss of your son.

I think I might know why her husband is "estranged"

I am so sorry to hear about your son.

I can't think of any good reason why she would bring something up like that.....maybe she was trying to talk about "anything else" other than what was going on at the time. Maybe she was uncomfortable at the funeral. I know that I simply can't attend funerals because it is just too hard....

I am truely sorry for your loss. People and their rudeness used to surprise me but nothing surprises me anymore. When my grandmother (we were very close) died my MIL told me that it was too bad but she had real problems. I think many people are just rude. But again I am truely sorry for your loss.

I am very sorry for your loss. I think she was EXTREMELY insensitive. The only "explanation" is as others have said, Maybe she just didn't know what to say. I know I never know what to say in situations like that, but I would have just hugges you, told you I'm sorry, and that I'm here for anything you need. I can't imagine why anyone would start complaining about their ex at a time like that.:confused3

I am so very sorry for your loss.

People seem to lose their minds at funerals and say the strangest things. I would hope that that is all it is...

I counselled grief stricken women for years after losing my own son. When people tell me they don't know what to say to them I tell them to say NOTHING... just listen. The whole situation makes people nervous and nervous people say very inappropriate things if they don't stick to the script.

The stupid remarks I heard would make your skin crawl, even here on this board. You learn to expect them. :sad1:

I send you a big hug from Georgia, my dear friend. Your pain is one I wish NO mother or father should feel. Mine was almost 24 years ago and I still feel the pain.

Hugs...

I am so terribly sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss.

You should have knocked her lights out. ;) That's what I feel like I want to do to her for you. That was very rude of her. You are NOT being insensitive, she was. I'm sorry she acted that way to you.

Sending hugs and prayers on the heartbreaking loss of your sweet son . Seems some people haven't a clue, I'm sorry she was so inconsiderate. :sad2:

I am so sorry for the loss of your little boy.

"Rude & insensitive" doesn't even begin to cover that woman's behavior.

I am so sorry for your loss.

People handle grief in different ways. She was probably consumed with her own problems and did not know who to deal. Who knows? I never know what to say at a funeral. But it was pretty out of line what she said.

I ditto the things she said..

 to you Karen
