Hi. Something strange just popped up on my account on the Disney World website, and I'm concerned. I'm waiting to hear back from the owner, but since I'm nervous and can't think about anything else right now, I thought I'd post to see if what I've experienced is normal and nothing to be concerned about.

I rented points for a Sept 08 stay. I paid a deposit via PayPal, and once the owner sent me a copy of the confirmation, I paid the balance via PayPal. (Balance was paid yesterday.) Today, a new reservation showed up on my account at the Disney website. The details indicate the reservation was made today and there is a balance due of $1480-something. The reservation is for the exact same resort and dates that I booked through the DVC member and says that it is payable upon check in. The confirmation number for this reservation is not the same as the number on the DVC reservation that I received yesterday. Since I'm not a DVC member, I just called Disney Reservations to see if they could pull up the reservation. They said they could not pull it up, but that it seemed to be done by DVC. Anyone have a clue about what this might be about?

:thanks:

I haven't a clue. CRO and DVC computer reservations systems really don't interact with one another. Did you add the DDP to your DVC Reservation? Is the amount showing the amount of the DDP?

That was my thought as well. Could that be the amount of the DDP? That is due and payable at the front desk when you check in with DVC.

Hmmmm......a true mystery. I don't understand why this would just show up today. I did log on to Disney's site yesterday, and it was definitely not there then.

Well, I thought about that too. I did ask to have dining added BUT - there are only 2 adults and 1 jr. for 3 nights. This should not add up to $1480-something.

But, can't DVC units be booked through CRO if they are being booked for cash by the general public?

To the OP, I would contact the "landlord" and Paypal ASAP. I'd be worried that this person is trying to scam you by booking a DVC Villa as a regular Disney hotel ressie and pretending they have booked a unit with their DVC points.

Something does sound fishy, I would definately contact the owner.

I assume you took precautions when renting, like having full contact info for the owner?

Well, this is exactly why I was nervous. I have contacted the "landlord"....I'm still waiting to hear from him.

I know I cannot make any changes to anything done by the DVC owner, but can I just call member services to ask about the confirmation number I do have since my name is on the ressie as the actual guest?

Yes, I do have contact info. I have email, address & phone. If I do not hear back via email today, I'll call him tonight.

Unfortunately, no, Member Services will not confirm a reservation for a non-owner.

Was this owner just renting out a LOT of points with a very short history of threads, like maybe 10 at the middle of last month?

Why not ask an owner to please check the info for you?
An owner other than the owner that you rented the points from?

One owner can not call and check the reservation status of another owner.

I logged on to my DisneyWorld.com account and my DVC reservations are listed. When I click on 'My Disney Vacation' it tells me my next vacation is 200 days away. That's our VWL stay in Nov. It also has NYE listed in the itineraries. These are point reservations that I'm the first person listed on.

When I view the details, they also show a balance due.

DznyDreams:
You only have to pay for the DDP when you check in. Don't worry about the balance due when you view the reservation.

OK, this is weird, my December reservation is showing up on DisneyWorld.com with a purchase date of April 30, and balance due of $2885.58.

I'm thinking someone, somewhere, is trying to merge the DVC and CRO reservation systems as part of an upgrade. The OPs reservation may be fine, though it is odd that no one has heard of this before. It must be something new.

Maybe to better check our onsite spending habits?

Wow, mine does too. Disney's systems may be entering the 21st century.

I wonder if this is part of the system enhancements that's giving us free internet.

OH THANK GOD!!!!! (I mean it!!) You have no idea how much better I feel now!!!!!

BTW, the owner I'm renting from emailed me back. He assured me that he called DVC to double check my reservation and that I only owe 341.91 for dining, which sounds spot on. Now with this info you all are posting, I feel such relief! I was ready to have a heart attack!
