Hi all!! Why is it that I can never find what I'm looking for? LOL!! I am looking for info on purchasing a few points if I don't have enough for a reservation. I thought it was up to 25 points?? Or is it 50? We will be short a few points for out next trip (depending on the view), and just want to get an idea of what it might cost. TIA!:thumbsup2

You can purchase up to 24 one-time-use points for $15/point.

As a Disney Vacation Club Member, occasionally you may find yourself in need of just few extra vacation points in order to book that perfect dream vacation. Previously, this required borrowing vacation points from a future use year, but very recently a new alternative was introduced. They're called "one-time-use" vacation points and are available for a fee of $15 ($13.33 plus $1.67 tax) per vacation point. Availability of one-time-use vacation points may be limited or suspended from time to time, and the fee is subject to change.

Details:
  • One-time-use vacation points are vacation points available for Disney Vacation Club Members to use as an alternative to borrowing vacation points from the following use year's allotment.
  • You can obtain a maximum of 24 one-time-use vacation points once per use year per membership.
  • A maximum of 24 one-time-use vacation points are processed in a single transaction, not multiple transactions.
  • The fee for one-time-use vacation points is $15 (including tax) per vacation point, and is subject to change.
  • One-time-use vacation points expire according to the use year of the reservation booked and are non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be banked or borrowed.
  • One-time-use vacation points are not available for waitlist reservations.
  • One-time-use vacation points cannot be applied retroactively to existing reservations.
  • One-time-use vacation points are only available for Members whose contract is closed and in good standing.
  • One-time-use vacation points are available only for Disney Vacation Club Resorts, Disney Collection*, Adventurer Collection* and World Passport Collection reservations.
    * Available when you purchase directly from Disney.
  • One-time-use vacation points used for Disney Vacation Club resort reservations can only be used up to 7 months prior to arrival.
  • One-time-use vacation points for Disney Collection, Adventurer Collection and World Passport reservations can be used according to the booking guidelines for each individual collection.

You can only purchase those points at 7 months out. There are several other strategies to handle this situation depending on your situation and needs. You should make what reservations you can with what points you have. Then you can look for a transfer from someone else, do a rental and link it to your reservation, get a cash reservation through MS (? 25% discount) or go through CRO. You could also take the opportunity to stay off site, ? universal. Of course they are not exclusive of each other. You could make a cash reservation and later cancel if you were able to get the extra points AND the additional reservation on points.

Thanks guys!! Great information!! We will be at 7 months in September and hope to make our definitive plans then!! I will look into all the options that you have suggested! You are the BEST!!!!:thumbsup2

I just did a pts transfer with Timeshare Store @ $12.00 per point. I had the pts transeferred to me with in an hour of paying. I know it's cheaper through the rental boards but I just felt more comfortable with going through a business.

When you say TTS do you mean The Timeshare Store? If so, I wasn't aware that they transferred points. We will be short a few points for a grand villa for 2013 and I've been trying to figure out how to get those and still be able to keep the 11 month advantage. Could you please tell me more about your experience? Were you able to chose what resort to get the points from and then did they keep a particular use year? Were or are you able to keep the 11 month advantage? You don't need to wait until 7 months as you would if you borrowed vacation points from Disney?

Is there a link to that service that is offered by TTS?

That is great to know about the transfer from them! I was looking at one of my resort points and even with banking and borrowing, I would be just a few points short for reserving a GV at 11 months out.

Is there a limit that you must transfer from them? The cost is fine.

I wanted VB Beach points to use over Spring break 2012 (so we could have 11 month window) and they were able to get me points to accomidate it was really easy. After I paid they had the member transfer the points very quickly. There is no limit & it is $3.00 a point less than Disney

Well, had I know about this on Friday, I wouldn't have had to do all of the reassigning of HHI points. Being able to "buy" the points at 11 months out is a plus! Thanks!

Do you know if there is a minimum amount of points to buy? I am literally ONE point short for my upcoming reservation!

The are just brokering the points for someone. It's up to the person with the points if they want to do just 1 point. It never hurts to ask. 1 point you might be better off from Disney if you havent already used up that option with this reservation.

One has to wonder how long these type of options will last. No matter where one stands on the rental subject, these type of services are clearly outside what is allowed technically by the POS both by the commercial question and the pay for transfer question. I'm not criticizing and don't have a problem with it personally, just wondering out loud how long it'll last. And I don't think the brokering arrangement will offer much protection.

I am two points short for next year but I need 11 month to get my treehouse :(

That is great to know. I remember reading on here that TSS was going to be offering this and then I kind of just forgot about it. It is a great option and a very fair price! Thanks for the info!!!

I spoke to TSS yesterday about purchasing some transfer points. Because they are brokering for the actual owner, he said it is up to the owner the amount of points that will be transferred. He said the smallest amount of points he has seen transferred was 45. If you need just a few points, it's best to just go through Disney. But if you are in need of say anywhere from 50-100, TSS is the way to go. I'm looking for 25 points ( if I bought them from Disney, I can only buy 24, which puts me ONE point short). So frustrating. TSS said they would try to find an owner willing to transfer only 25 but he doubts it.

Woooo hooooo!!!! 25 points were just transferred into my account!
Jason @ TSS is the man!!!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:
