My daughter is in China teaching and we had talked about meeting in Hawaii next year. I thought her spring break was April 8th to the 23rd so I have been counting down the days to book for the 8th. Come to find out her dates are April 1st to the 16th. So while I was chatting with her this evening, I asked her what dates she'd like to go and she suggested 4/2-4/9. I went on the DVC website and booked it!! Neither one of us have been to Hawaii and it's been on my bucket list for awhile. I was going to book a garden view but then thought to myself your are 62 years old and you only live once so go for the ocean view. I am over the moon excited. My daughter will be home for Christmas so we will look over the excursions and things to do then and book our activities.

Nice! Be certain to leave time to spend at the resort! It's lovely - IMO the best DVC has done. Enjoy your trip!!!

Good for you! We went for the first time in May. Loved, loved the resort.
We also had an ocean view studio.
We loved spending time at the resort.......we did go to Pearl Harbor, the Dole Plantation and the flea market. Spent the rest of the time at the resort.

What a beautiful view. I want to go to the Pearl Harbor Memorial and of course the Dole plantation. Reading the information about the resort it does sound as though you can just stay put for most of your stay.

That sounds wonderful!!

Our view one morning from our 2 bedroom. Folks were doing yoga on the boards!

We loved our stay which was about a year ago, and have another stay booked in February! I thought the stay was definitely worth the long plane ride. I even convinced DH.

Aloha! What a great place to meet.

You might want to check out the Aulani Villas and View thread. It has lots of information on the resort and some great view photos.

AUL is definitively a great addition to DVC although my only stay was before I became a member. Out of pure curiosity, I checked availability for the 1st week of April in 2017 (that's my little ones' spring break) after I saw the OP and was surprised by the availability at 7 months for 1 bedrooms as even standard view was still around. I hope this wasn't an anomaly as I do plan on going back in future spring breaks.

Aulani is beautiful! We visited in June and really loved the theming, especially compared to the Marriott down the road where we were staying, which could have been anywhere. Staying at Aulani is now on our bucket list.

I think we'd spend two days at Pearl Harbor (too much to see there now for just one day) and another day to visit Dole Plantation, drive along the North Shore, and finish at the Polynesian Cultural Center (amazing show). The rest of the time we'd hang out at Aulani's beach & pool!

I just realized too that my daughter will turn 30 the end of January so I think this is a perfect 30th birthday present for her. Maybe I will treat her to a massage, I know she will like that. I was looking at airfare, just to get an idea of the cost and it will be cheaper for her to fly from Beijing than it will be for me to fly from Philly. But since I booked this trip on points, the airfare will not be too hard of a pill to swallow.

When I saw that my daughters break was earlier than I had thought I was really worried about booking I was online around midnight and figured I'd see what I could get. I had enough points from banking and borrowing to book a one bedroom garden view if no studios were available. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised when I could book the ocean view studio. I am taking my grandson to Disney World in May so I even had enough points to book us a savanah view studio. Really feeling the DVC love right now. To pay cash for the ocean view studio would have been $6800:scared:.

Your post prompted me to look at the availability of those dates next April to get an idea for the following April. I had meant to look on day one of the 7 months but forgot so I was glad to see your post OP! I am also very happy to see that there was 2 bdrm and 1 bdrm availability. Looking for first week of April 2018. We went during spring break 3 years ago and I booked about 5 months out and I was able to get a 2 bdrm and a studio. The studio was split between ocean view and standard view but it all worked out.
